What was Judd's disposal efficiency?

You poor thiNg you just don't get it do you. You do not understand footy, of course his d.e. would be down, look at the way he accumulated his possessions. So you have never played the game obviously. Please just shut up now.

I just find it sad how people try and pick flaws in his game as many people do with the other superstars of the AFL.

whether it is Judd, Pendles, Watson, Franklin etc.....i would just rather watch and marvel at their ability rather than try and prove that they are not good players.

These guys won't be around forever so just enjoy watching them strut their stuff while they are still out there.

Yeah people just need to realise that players like Judd & Ablett Jr don't come around that often, they're the players we'll be telling our grandkids about and how privileged we were to see them play. Just enjoy them and let go of your petty grudge just because he wears a Carlton jumper.

he just turns games with his skill and sheer will, you would love to have him in your side. I think he has probably gotten better and better, probably not carrying and niggles anymore and getting more support as carlton develop.

Hate being beaten, but you cant help but sit in awe of the talent as he carves your team to bits

What's with the psuedo-backhanded compliments from Swans fans in this thread?

Just about every post in this thread from a Swans supporter feels the need to include a reference to Adam Goodes in it?

Who cares about Adam Goodes?

Listen Carlos, have you got a problem with somebody from another club admiring Judd. There was no psuedo-backhanded compliment. I as much as anybody have a right to comment on any player I wish whether I am a Swans supporter or not. I have posted here before about Judd and yes Adam Goodes who I also feel is a champion.

Go back to your hole and knock the chip off your shoulder, geez I would hate have said something negative. Grow up and read things as they are not as you think they are written.

Re: Chris Judda$

He's not even the best midfielder at Carlton, Murphy is their best mid. Still is more of a seagull type midfielder relying on others to help feed the ball out to where he is. Very good fitness and bursts of speed masks his deficiencies elsewhere such as defensive game, poor mark overhead and his disposal efficiency isn't that flash. I'm happy to have him out on the field whenever we play Carlton.

Overrated protected species best describes him at this stage.

I've spent alot of time on this forum and your post is by far the ridiculous.

Chris Judd is a gun, plain and simple.

He is the best player I've seen in my 25 years of watching football.

I suggest you watch the last 2 games he has play against Sydney and come back to us.

Are you saying Judd is a good kick?

Pavlich and Pendelbury get a lot contested ball but can still manage good disposal efficiency, particularly by foot.

Is this a new thing? Because I didn't know they did that in their stats. Then again, I never usually bother with the AFL website in general, beyond looking at the odd linked news article.

Whether it's 48% or 58%, it's poor, but as you said, others in the side were far worse and got a lot less contested footy. Probably wasn't the ideal night/conditions to expect perfectly clean disposal to begin with.
Wow! Exceptional attempt at cheapening one of the better individual performances you'll see in trying conditions.

Kudos!

I don't know what the hype was all about re: Judd's game against the Swans. It was good but he's played many better and more important games. Watch all his finals games for WC. Never played any better than then.

I dunno he's gone to another level in terms of turning games since joining Carlton I reckon. I know he was great in those finals but he has continued to develop and I think it's a bit of a myth at times that he was way better at the eagles

He is a different player now.

He was damaging then, and now, in different ways.

At the Eagles, he killed teams on the burst from the outside, with inside 50s and goals

At the Blues, he kills it in contested possessions, under packs, insider, with clearances.

With the way the game is being played now, and contested possessions more important than any thing else, he is phenomenal.

Do yourself a favour & watch the last quarter of Friday night's game again (assuming you actually watched it the first time & weren't glued to the Will & Kate show). There were 36 players busting their guts in the last quarter, but one player in particular, who was a class above, absolutely grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck & made sure Carlton won.

It may not have been the best game of Judd's career, but it was certainly better than a lot of his West Coast Eagles games & that is not to downplay his efforts for the Eagles.

i was very surprised he wwon the brownlow but this year judd has shown how good he really is and will probably do that through the year and win another brownlow.

Judd's DE is 67%, Pavlich 68%, Pendles 73%.

Judd has 55% contested possessions, Pavlich 52%, Pendles 43%.

How often does Judd handball compared to Pavlich and Pendels? You don't think a 5 meter handball is easier than a long kick?

Pavlich and Pendles can cut the game open with kicking alone.

Both Judd & Pavlich have handballed marginally above 50% of their disposals (Judd 84 handballs out of 167 disposals, Pavlich 70 handballs out of 138 disposals).

As for a comparison between Judd & Pendles, I think it would be safe to say, on the basis of the contested possession stats, that Judd plays a significantly greater inside role than what Pendles does. You are therefore comparing apples & oranges.

Haters gonna hate.

Posters biast towards Judd just can make them same some stupid things.

He is a champ, has been since the moment he entered this league and will be when he gets chaired off in his last.

You know he is a great, when you can see yourself telling your kids or grandkids you saw him play in the flesh.

There have been many legends of the years, dont let the team you support deprive you of another.

Yes, I just checked the stats honestly though Pavlich kicked it more. Pendels, kicks it a lot. He has an amazing ability to find space were there isn't none. At the same time he is probably in the best users of the ball in the AFL. Don't take this wrong way I take Pendels right now over Judd.

With Pavlich, Judd is in better form this year but Pavlich can dominate all over the ground, his marking gives him the edge.

Judd can cut the game open without even disposing of the ball.

Did I say he couldn't? What's your point?

It helps to play in the best team in the league which has a well recognised team ethos that enforces things like shepparding. Not to mention not being the no.1 ball winner (contested balls/clearances) in your side, actually Pendles is probably after Ball/Swan/Wellingham in that regard. His value is as the final link in the chain through the middle, a job Judd used to play with much greater effect
