Nice work Chris. Its great to see some different opinions out there. Its certainly massively different to where mine is looking like ending up and I love that.

Care to give us a bolter pick?

Were you tempted to boost Prestia up given how much Emma Q is pumping up his tyres? I have to admit I have him currently about where you do but it has caused me to look again.

Having watched Prestia at TAC GF, I must say that he shouldn't need too many people pumping his tyres. Will be a very good player, reads the play exceptionally, skilled on both sides and certainly seems to have a tank. Height may be a restriction in some minds, but Harvey, Ablett, Murphy etc prove you don't need to be tall to be dominant

Would be stoked if the draft fell that way for the Tiges, been wanting Heppel but when gc and bris traded picks i felt all was lost. fingers crossed it goes down this way

Im crossing every part of my body that we can get Heppell in the draft..... I can see Polec & Gaff going 4 & 5.
Hoping like hell that Brisbane decide not to pick him up because they got numerous half backs eg Drummond, Patfull!

All Richmond supporters start praying!!!

Polec would fit our needs perfectly. But Heppell would be great as well.

Polec or Heppell for pick 6 please. I know from a source we rate Polec very very highly. I think higher than Heppell.

Lycett and Jacobs it really surprises me to see both down so low in this draft. Jacobs I feel will have a really immediate impact at AFL level and I get the feeling he might go top 20.
Lycett also pretty surprising to see him slide so far, again would be pretty surprised to see him slide so far because I think with time he will develop into a very good ruckman.

Don't think there is any doubt that Lycett will be a quality ruckman, but I don't think any club really needs a ruck that badly that they will go in the first round. Especially with the new sub rule (which will be lucky to see out the season though).

If Gold Coast miss out on Gorringe, they may take him early. But otherwise I don't think he'll go until Essendon, Port or West Coast in the second round. They all might need a ruckman, but it isn't their most pressing need.

The Prestia love coming from her was interesting, and I probably did have him going a little earlier in this one than in previous attempts. Although history suggests her favourites are not always the favourites of recruiters. Just for some reason I don't quite see him as a first rounder, will be a handy player wherever he goes though.

The bolters in my draft were probably Guthrie and Steinberg. One who could go earlier is Reece Conca. Impressed at the draft combine, and I don't see him getting past Fremantle and Sydney. Could do a Gysberts and get picked up in the middle of the first.

Good work mate. Love a phantom draft that doesn't concede to the usual orders everyone chucks up. You clearly know your players and which ones could become bolters.

The only one that sticks out to me is Prestia...get the feeling he'll go earlier, regardless of the fact he's a midget. Too much talent there and is one of the best genuine mids in the comp. Once Heppell, Gaff, Smith and Polec are gone, Prestia is probably the next best. Rate him higher than Caddy, Harper and Parker - has more influence and class.

44. Collingwood - George Horlin-Smith - 186cm midfielder

As much as I hate to say it, Collingwood just don't have any real needs. So in Horlin-Smith they get a creative midfielder, who is just as strong at both ends of the ground. He might not be the quickest player going around, but you wouldn't know it when he has the ball in his hands.

I have heard from a Few Sources that the Pies are Really Intrested in Horlin Smith

45. Collingwood - Tim Milera - 170cm forward

Small forward from Port Adelaide, Milera is the classic crumbing forward unlike the midfielders cum forwards. On the AFL website he compares himself to Eddie Betts, and that pretty much says it all. Very skilled player who with Dick, would offer something different at the feet of the talls

Well we still have Davis and Traded in Krakouer so do we really need a Small Forward?

60. Collingwood - Jamie Solly - 190cm forward

Continuing on with the SA theme, Collingwood pick up a Port Adelaide friend for Milera. Solly has gradually fallen down the order, due to nothing but the fact that he is solid rather than spectacular. A bit Anthony like in that he can play at either end. With Collingwood's strong position at the moment, grabbing another tall to develop wont hurt.

I actually like this pick and would be a Real Steal at Pick 60. Has good Versatility

Does Collingwood need another small forward? Maybe not, but it would give them options. Krakouer and Davis aren't exactly the crumbing types, and both are probably better suited up the ground a bit. Dick is promising, but always seems to be injured.

Milera is different in that he is a genuine crumbing forward, with speed and skills.

It's just a case of building depth.

Would Carlton really overlook Watson and Darling for another midfielder ??? I know we generally go for best available, but those 2 would be perfect for us at either end of the field ............
After trading for Laidler and moving up in the second round, I think we're well positioned to take a tall at 18. We're in a similar situation and position as we were in 2006 when we drafted Hampson to get a ruck. I would like to grab a hard inside and outside mid (a Grigg, but with better skills & attitude) and a taller forward with picks 33 and 41. Karnezis could be a good fit if Walker is planning on leaving as an uncontracted player next year.

An interesting read and I enjoyed the departure from group-think.

Having said that, I'd be a little surprised if the Lions took another ruck this year. IMO they've got greater needs across the park (a variety of mids, KPF, KPD) that they'll attend to this year, before maybe looking at topping up their ruck stocks next year.

Next year, even if Charman retires (I would've thought a near certainty) and Clark moves on (a possibility), we're still left with Leuie, McCulloch & McCauley (developing nicely as a mature-age rookie).

Excellent read.

North have pick 30 from the compensation pick they received from Hawthorn for David Hale.

Only if they choose to activate it - and none of the clubs have so far done so. Actually, it could be as high as pick #27 if nobody else activates their compo picks.

Nice work, a good read, although 2 of our 3 pics KP after 2 out of 3 trades in were also talls? Could end up being but I hope it's not the case.

Regardless of what happened in trade week, Fremantle still need talls. They've said we'll be looking to strengthen our forward line, and that means more than just one kid in my opinion. We already have a strong midfield group, with plenty of players capable of rotating through it.

We lost Tarrant, Dodd, Thornton, Solomon and Murphy. While Headland, Hasleby and Bucovaz are all (or have been playing as) medium/tall types. Griffin is just a ruckman, and while Faulks helps out of the defence, nothing has really been done about the forward line.

Johnson and Bradley aren't genuine key forwards, and really neither are anything more than a potential third tall. I don't understand why so many want Silvagni at full forward, he showed promise but the guy is a defender. Just because someone is tall and can do it, doesn't mean they are best suited to playing forward. I really like Houghton, but he is more a mobile CHF than a real target up front.

Darling and Hamp would be great selections for Fremantle, and the best thing is they are both local boys. So there is no risk of them wanting to head home.

If I was to continue onto a fourth round, I'm sure these names would feature...

Kirk Ugle - 173cm forward/midfielder
Alex Browne - 188cm midfielder/defender
Jake Batchelor - 187cm defender
Adam Marcon - 180cm midfielder
Kyle Hartigan - 192cm defender
Josh Walker - 194cm forward
Charlie Riewoldt - 183cm forward
Cameron Johnston - 181cm midfielder/forward

Some guys that I like, and would be options for the rookie draft...

Haydn Busher - 191cm defender
Chris Luff - 190cm defender
Archie Longbottom - 180cm midfielder

And the rest...

Matthew Jones - 199cm ruckman
Darcy Barden - 192cm forward
Jacob Gilbee - 183cm forward
Alex Elisseou - 174cm forward/midfielder
Ben Brown - 197cm ruckman
Luke Dalhaus - 177cm midfielder
Ben Casley - 189cm defender
Joseph Groenewegen - 198cm ruckman
Andrew McInnes - 189cm defender
Arryn Sippos - 188cm forward
Zac Fitzgerald - 192cm forward
Alex McLeod - 182cm midfielder
Myles Sewell - 185cm midfielder
Ryan Brabazon - 183cm midfielder
Ozgur Uysal - 181cm forward
Rowan Garlett - 181cm forward
Isiah Stevens - 188cm forward
Graham Jetta - 175cm defender

Certainly if Caddy is there at 15 he seems a likely pick for us, albeit that we are a tall defender short list wise so Watson and McCarthy might also be possibles for 15. I suspect one of our first round picks will be a mid, and the other a defender, it's just which way round Wells wants to do it.

I think I mentioned it before, but I don't particularly think the quality of talls compares to the quality of midfielders. I'm a big fan of McCarthy, not so much Watson, but I feel it's probably better for Geelong to leave the talls for later. They don't have an immediate need for a tall defender, whereas getting some fresh legs into the midfield is pretty important.

And getting Wilson and Delaney in the third round would pretty much be an ideal draft.

Do you think there's a good chance Andreoli will slide beyond the first round? I definitely think we'll look for quick mids again with one or two of our picks so it would be interesting to know who might be there for our later picks.

Probably a better chance of Andreoli going in the second round than the first round, although I did have him rounding out the first. A bit like Christensen last year, who was rated by some on here as being a first rounder but ended up lasting until 40. Can't see him lasting until the third round though.

Do you rate Newton higher than Cripps and Fasolo?

Don't know if I necessarily rate Newton higher than those two, but I do like him although he hasn't gotten a lot of attention so far.

I think Fasolo has the highest ceiling of the three, what with being able to play both in the middle and up forward with success. Newton might not ever be a genuine star, but he'll be a solid midfielder and I have see him having the more immediate impact. Cripps would be pretty close to the top of his range at 31, and I'm not sure he will be more than a half back so he could be picked up later on in the draft.

Being a Sharks supporter, I may be biased, but I really think he looks good roaming around the forward 50m. I think he is way more than just a half back player. His speed and marking for his size is very good. (Have not seen his testing results), he has very good goal sense and a little x factor.

I always worry that my Sharks bias is on, but I think late first round, early second round is massively on the cards.
