Cogs will be fine guys, he has had so many injuries and getting games under his belt still, of course he is slower and some strength lost but that will all come back over time.. Everyone is quick to write him off.. Wait till he has a proper pre season..

Let me tell you this he can still extract the ball in a contest as good as anyone in the afl or are people not seeing that..

From watching the first half Putt although getting beaten looks like a good prospect.. And people are right about Carnell should be on our list..

Bowden has done well 2day put his body on the line.. He is a good player and if he keeps that up he should come back in the team..

Totally Agree:thumbsu:

I don't know how Putt is on an AFL list. 202cm ruckman and he's playing at CHB.
I don't know how some people can't see that someone who is 200+cm isn't necessarily a Ruckman.

He was recruited as a potential key forward, with a very late and speculative pick, because he's big, agile, can take a contested grab. He's being played around the ground a lot for Coburg, and has done some pretty good things, but still needs development, but hey, this is Richmond, if he's not a gun within 6 months, then it must be time to hang, draw and quarter him.
Yeah, that.

what the hell is wrong with Connors...he has gone backwards that kid.
He has no trouble getting the ball, just makes trouble for himself. One of those blokes who plays up to the level he's playing in too. Shown he can handle AFL no worries.

Phil Egan - "Do you think you can win?"
Phil Cleary?

liking a few things that Post and Putt are doing in this quarter. Nothing spectacular, but just the way the are putting themselves into the contests. Something to work with.
Post is a good size. Definitely something to work with. Putt has a few more years of growing into himself, and the confidence he seems to lack a touch of will come.

This oval can be a nitemare the longer you hang on to the ball the more you turn it over, must dispose of it quickley, must play in front into the wind and behind with it, if coburg are trying to play possession footy they'll get smashed

every richmond listed player out there today was woeful except those who had a crack such as bowden and post i thought. post looks good and knows how to find the ball but needs to improve his disposal and marking. bowden was great all day and showed some good hardness which he needed to show. players like conners, JON, king mcmahon and thomson to a lesser degree were all shocking and shudnet be at the RFC next year.

also wannted to say that thge coburg full back keogh is an absolute turkey and is the worst player ive ever seen IMO

Its the only real reason I watch these games. Couldn't really give a stuff about the result, its more about looking at things that the kids do that gives you that little glimpse that they can be a player at a higher level or not.

There are a few things I saw today watching Post and Putt that out a tiny smile on the face thinking about the future.

Absolute shocking game to watch. Horrible. That's not because Port Melbourne were playing a bad style of football either, was all us. They didn't want to kick it and when they did they turned it over every single time. Also constant handballing until they run themselves into trouble. So basically they played the Richmond game plan with even worse players.

Scoreboard flattered us, we were at least 12 goals worse. Craig McRae first up performance was not good. That comment about not liking the word win was stupid. Looking disinterested in the coaches box, obviously was out of his depth and didn't know what to do with his own team, didn't make any changes, just stared on as we got flogged.

I'm not even going to a best 3 as there wasn't 3 players that were good enough. Bowden tried and obviously he wants to get back in the seniors, still did good things but then has his 'Bowden brain lapse' moment and does something shocking. Sylvester was solid. You're in a sad state when your best player is a 30 year old who will be gone at the end of year more than likely. Carnell was probably BOG along with other Coburg players, Richmond players let them down.

I could do a worst 10 to be honest. McMahon is ****ing useless as usual. Doesn't chase, doesn't tackle, turns it over with every second kick. Just a shocking AFL player and still looks out of his depth at VFL level. Ward could be good right about now. King was his horrible self. Constant free kicks given away, constant turnovers. Offers nothing, should of been gone last year. This may be a bit harsh for an 18 year old but Browne was pretty bad. Horrible field kicking, didn't hit one target all day. For a 205 cm giant he didn't win a hitout all day. Should be sent back to the Coburg reserves.

Unlucky WOG's: Schulz (Got dominated by a VFL defender playing out of his normal position:eek:), Coughlan (Soooooooo slow, caught with ball by my count about 5 times, bad kicking), Thomson (hardly sighted), Connors, JON. **** it, they were all shit. One of the worst games I've ever seen in my life, some Auskick games have been better to watch than that shit. That was the depth running around out there showing us their talents ladies and gentlemen, future looks bright.

oh god it was aweful.

My take:

Bowden: only one who really looked above the level. Didnt seem in a good frame of mind as he was arguing with the umpires constantly

McMuffin: Better 2nd half but still gave up 2 goals directly from indecision in the first half. Woeful and should be delisted. Weak and useless in contested possesions.

JON: Not up to scratch. Wasnt hard enough and is too slow when he gets the ball.

Connors: finds the ball but he is clearly not professional enough to be a league footballer.

Post: did some alright thing but is still a long way off.

Putt: Got beaten early by Deluca but did a bit better in the 2nd half. A worry in my eyes as I dont really see what we are developing him into.

Browne: Wasnt helped in the ruck by the ball going into orbit all the time. At times in the last quarter he looked dangerous as a big man in packs. Should be allowed to kick.

Coughlan: not really seen much today.

Schulz: ONe of our better players as he took a few chances from limited opportunity. While I dont want him at Richmond I give him credit for his efforts at Coburg and his courage.

Sylvester: played on a big fella and seemed serviceable although I dont really concentrate to hard on how he goes. Hes just a VFL footballer.

King:learnt nothing new. He is gutsy and a mongrel but has poor skills and decision making

Thommson: hardly sighted and when he got the ball he butchered it. May be lucky to retain his spot for Coburg.

Can't think immediately of anyone else

Pretty bad game especially from Coburg. Bowden our best easily. McMahon did nothing special turned it over a few times. King had a crack and was ok but his kicking let him down on a few occasions. Post showed some good signs, Putt was not to bad but I think was played out of postion. Thomson went in hard but didn't enough to suggest a call up. Schulz kicked 3 but was beaten by his man, although the delivery was quite poor so I guess he did ok, considering.

The only player worthy of coming back up is Bowden. Other then that, the rest will have another week at Coburg

really like Putt, put him in a team with better disposals and he will be very good. played down back most of the day. was always were the ball was reads the play very very good. decent mark. not the worst kick, but often feeds the ball out so once again if he has better players around him it will make him look much better. runs and moves very good. but would have liked to see him up forward a bit more.

I went to the game today... it was freeeeeeezing!

Browne was so, so bad.

JON's decisions weren't great sometimes, but he did get ignored on the lead a lot.

Bowden did some good things and Schulz didn't get a huge amount of opportunities.

Post was good, I though. Nice size.

I like the look of Horne though. How old is he exactly? I'd have a look at him for next year.

I personally thought JON was one of our better when it was in his area I dont remember them streaming away, his attack on the ball imo is very good its still just that decision making. Also playing as a half forward would like to see him get the ball closer to goal on occasion.

10kg more on Putt will make a huge difference. By the end of his career it'll be closer to 20.

Ward could be good right about now.
He's not a great kick either and anyway, we would have taken Scott Selwood.

This may be a bit harsh for an 18 year old but Browne was pretty bad. Horrible field kicking, didn't hit one target all day. For a 205 cm giant he didn't win a hitout all day. Should be sent back to the Coburg reserves.
I like Browne. Sure he's raw but show me an 205cm 18y/o who isn't. His marks stick and he did hit one target - the goals. he was also up against one of the leading VFL rucks, an AFL-exerienced, mature-bodied one.

Thomson (hardly sighted)
I seriously wonder why we recruited him. Short, slow, not especially skilled.

Connors: finds the ball but he is clearly not professional enough to be a league footballer.
It's the club's job to make him professional, which I would suggest is why he finds himself playing twos when he clearly has the talent to be an AFL regular, and a good one at that.

Post: did some alright thing but is still a long way off.
I'd give him a run before the end of the year.

Putt: Got beaten early by Deluca but did a bit better in the 2nd half. A worry in my eyes as I dont really see what we are developing him into.
Potentially: anything.

Tim Clarke was best? And is assistant coach? Now there's a bloke who butchers the ball every time.
