The real question is what round does Buckley get sacked?
Problem is, IMO, if Buckley goes, Eddie would have to go too, as he is inextricably linked to Buckley's appointment. Not sure if Eddie is ready to abdicate.

Quality post and fully agree.

Thoughts on this spine -

Brown
Keeffe
Pendlebury
Cloke
Reid

?
Cloke definitely needs Reid up with him. Goldsack would be peripheral to the spine, but should be Keefe's wingman at all times.

best 22 of something like -

frost brown williams
toovey keefe langdon
sidebottom swan thomas
fasolo reid varcoe
elliott cloke white
witts pendlebury greenwood
int: goldsack broomhead seedsman adams

plus experienced fringe players - blair young grundy kennedy sinclair karnezis armstrong crisp dwyer macaffer (when fit)
plus 4 top 10 untried draftees - freeman, scharenberg (when fit), moore and a yet to be identified pick 5 in 2014 draft

they will be no pushovers in 2015 with a reasonable run with injury. most importantly, they will (touch wood) have reid and brown avail to play, blokes like seedsman and thomas will improve out of sight with a pre season under their belt given they basically didn't have one pre-2014, frost will take over maxwell's role as the 3rd mobile tall defender and will benefit immeasurably from playing every game in 2014, swan will hopefully be over his injury worries, williams won't spend the pre season worrying about whether he's headed for the big house, fasolo is hopefully over his foot issues, white will benefit from reid being back in the side and can play the 3rd tall/2nd ruck role which is where he played his best footy for swans, and even blokes like goldsack toovey and elliott missed 4 plus weeks of 2014 with injury so can hopefully get more continuity into their footy

can easily play finals. certainly won't be the implosion that that some seem to be predicting

Yet they were pretty much injured all year and we still went 83 in the first half of the year without them

Please tell part of the truth at least. You can sugar coat it as much as you like but Collingwoods losses going into 2015 are huge. No list can afford to lose 3 of there top 5 and improve.

Mate Ball, Maxy, and Lumumba are not top 5 players. Last year our top 5 was Pendlebury, Beams, Sidebottom, Cloke and Reid. We lost one of them stop being a troll mate

Best and Fairest results had Beam's McCaffer and Lumumba in your top 5.

You are so dumb, Reid is in our 5 best players but the fact he played only 3 games for us makes it rather hard for him to pole well in the BnF. Same with Cloke he battled injury all year and was the lone ranger in the forward line without Reid. Lumumba just gets votes because he gets on the park each and every week and is an alright player.

Still finished top five and thats the lamest excuse Ive heard for Cloke so far.

Lumumba is no loss for us. Beams is a massive loss but still I think on the grand scheme of things we can improve on 9th for next year. BnF results mean squat when the list was riddled with injury.

Yep played every week which means he was better than what you had in reserve. Lumumba will be a loss.

Just stop trolling he had knee tendinitis all year and did his ankle with a month to go. He had no help in the forward line we moved the ball slow and indirect so we never gave him a chance one out.

Riewoldt won the Best and Fairest and was AA VC and CHF.

so by finishing out the 8 we will get a easier fixture then last season and surely we dont get the injury list we had in 2014.... surely.
Lose a couple important players in Beams and Maxy, Prince even though finished top 5 can be covered and Ball has been done for the past year or so.
Get in Greenwood, Varcoe and hopefully get guys like Freeman into the side who will be like a new recruit.
I think we can just make the 8 but we are making up the numbers.

Pies will be knocking on the door of the bottom 4 next year. Lost most of their top end quality, other top end talent either injured or on the wane. Kids not coming through that well which looks like poor development, and Buckley has yet to show the world that he can coach. Bit of pain for Collingwood in the next couple of years.

Good to see Varcoe in the best 22 and not a fringe player. Was much a maligned player by supporters when at Geelong, had some great games mixed in with long spurts of average. Hope he fits in and is serviceable...

Center half forward in the bottom side with crook knees and injury depleted rebuilding side.
Different players, different positions. One less kick to get it to Riewoldt. Gets up the ground and then gets a few kicks looping back into the forward line. All adds up to a higher possession game in a side thats struggling and hence more attention from the footy world. Had a very good year, no doubt but difficult to compare the two.
Who else played the CHF role from other clubs who could have competed with Roo for AA selection?
