Great announcement, and important the Club comes out on this.
Agreed. I have a feeling the people saying that politics and football shouldn't mix are people who wouldn't be saying it if the Board came out against a Voice to Parliament.

I also wonder if they'd be happy to have the club not making a huge deal about Anzac Day?

Sports clubs are an intrinsic part of local culture and society, it's important they be involved in issues involving the community.

The Club's statement makes it clear they are not urging people to vote one way or the other. But in a free society and democracy, it is well within its rights to have a view.

If you look at the club's history, there's been a "White Australia" factor in it's dealings going back for a century or more.
A hundred years ago that was the status quo, as racism was an inherent part of the "British Empire".
Other clubs took the lead in recruiting indigenous players - Carlton, Richmond, Essendon, North Melbourne, Geelong.
Think players like Polly Farmer, Barry Cable, Syd Jackson, Maurice Rioli, Michael Long, the Krakouer brothers, etc.
We mostly didn't to our detriment.
The ones we did recruit have stories of being subjected to racism, though stories like that are undoubtedly not unique to Collingwood.
At least Neon & Krak have forgiven and moved on, in part due to the Do Better report, though some will never forgive.
If the club wants to take a position of inclusion & tolerance, I'm all for it.
I was the target of plenty of racism growing up in Australia - it's still out there.

All clubs brother not just ours. They only highlight Collingwood.
Syd Jackson, Robbie Muir had horror stories from their own teammates.
Saints players would urinate on Robbie in the showers after a game.
The only thing we hear is Nicky Winmar lifting his jumper to show the colour of his skin.

All clubs guilty of this sort of crap.

Absolutely! I hope Bobby, Ash & Freddy never have to put up with this garbage.
Jamarra Ugle-Hagan was the latest player to have to put up with this crap just last week from some knuckle dragging troglodyte.

What happened mate. Can you share?
Pretty sure our club is past all this shite. Probably most clubs are.
Makes me mad and sad.

My mother was Japanese. I've had innumerable derogatory Asian epithets & bullying.
I've been told to "go back to where you came from" more times than I can remember.
My answer has generally been "What? Frankston?"

I’d like to know where we stand on the Russian invasion, transgender rights and the UN sustainable development goals to make sure my club and I are 100% aligned
I think they should release a statement on Dan Andrews' visit to China and whether the National Curriculum meets future workforce needs

Why Fox dont get Whateley to call games is crazy. * SEN
This. Whateley on play by play with Cometti doing special comments would be awesome. We didn’t realise what we were missing back before Cometti became more prominent in the Channel 9 days and we’ve never had an entertaining commentator since. Taylor and Hudson screaming down the microphone constantly is just annoying and if I hear Dwayne Russell talk about the “footy gods” any more I’m going to go nuts.

Look at the club’s website header. Isn’t it typical that it took like 5 minutes for an actual group Collingwood has historically treated poorly in indidenous peoples and who actually play for the team to be overlooked in favour of the TikToker generation’s favourite trendy friends.

Bruce: Good caller of the game until he fell into self-parody.

Gerard: Really good.

Hudson: Gets a bit shrill, but quite okay.

Dennis: One of a kind in football commentary. Good at the in-and-under stuff, avoided cliche, some spectacular lines.

BT: Absolute trash. Self-indulgent, chronically unfunny, and often struggles to keep up with the play.

Significance of Results: No volume when BT is calling. Footballers in general are hard to listen to, especially people like Buckley who are hellbent on making the simple sound complicated.

We never get him but Jason Bennett is excellent- hope he climbs up to the bigger games.

I know this was rife in the 70’s and 80’s, but have you come across this in the last 20 years?

Trying to plan a family holiday, loosely around being able to go to the Gold Coast vs Collingwood game. And despite it being in the school holidays, it's one of the TBC rounds. Have they given a deadline as to when they'll announce the dates/times for Round 16?

What a crock of shit.

Im assuning it'll be the Saturday night or something but I'd hate to find out it's on the Thursday night if booking to arrive after that.

Cannot agree more. This floating fixture bullshit is a big up yours from the AFL to regional and interstate fans
