Harry Himmelberg, while a good player, wouldn’t seem to make sense for us as a deal, imo. He wants $800k + per year, no? We have too many similar sorts (particularly AJ, who’s showing heaps of promise himself) to be spunking that sort of money up for him.

HH would be on the same money as De Goey. If we recruit a key position player on that sort of cashola, they just have to be an elite level specialist key forward (not many of them available) or it’s not really worth it.
Don't know bro. Who is saying Himmelberg wants $800k ?

He’s just throwing out numbers but it’s pretty evident there’s interest and there’s likely to be a bit of a bidding war. Perhaps not 800k but I still think his price will be inflated a bit to much for my liking
He can stay at GWS for that amount. $600k Max.

I was under the impression it had been reported he was seeking at least around $800k. My bad if that number was wrong, sorry. Regardless, he won’t come cheap if there’s a bidding war.
Some teams will offer that or close too.
Not worth it.
Around $600k ok

too slow, cant jump

Yeah not hat's not as thing - has a good leap and is strong overhead, every single bit of tape of him I've seen shows that for the record.

Also appears to have enough speed off the mark and ability to read the play to burn off defenders pretty handily so that would be useful at either end. I also didn't think he did too badly for the bunch of games they tried him as a defender when GWS had injuries to their other key backs a while ago either.

Definitely something to work with imo and the price will be low, 2-3 years on a low end contract to see how he goes assuming GWS let him go this time, at worst he'd be serviceable depth if he doesn't make it to best 22 level.

I guarantee a number of clubs will be into him over the off season and we should be one of them.

There won't be a bidding war if he chooses a club. It would then be a matter for negotiation between the 2 clubs.
If Himmelberg wants to leave, GWS could choose to match as they did for Jeremy Cameron to get a better result than the compensation pick

He’ll likely choose a club based on who’s tabled him the best offer though. That is what I was referring to.

Harsh? think Riccardi and Georgiades types at the right price are the type of players ( like AJ) that could thrive in the right environment

I’m not expecting a HH or a Naughton to land with us, we just dont do those deals and not in a position to.

Agreed, although if Port are smart they wont let Georgiades go because after Dixon hangs up the boots in a year or two they only have Finlayson (who'll be relied on to do more second ruck work as time passes by), Marshall and Georgiades left with maybe Ollie Lord as a very speculative depth option.

They won’t match if he chooses us, because we sure as hell aren’t able to give them better than what they’d receive from compo, assuming they qualify for tier 1.

If Himmelberg is a RFA and he agrees to come to us on an affordable deal, because Fly/culture/crowds/MCG/juggernaut, then the Giants will be able to match the $ anyway. So it would presumably come down to whether they like the prospective compo or trade.

I been thinking could we potentially see some Borderline 22 Players that would Leave to worser Teams/Lists for Better Chance at Playing AFL Level or Players shipping themselves around?

Players I can see this might happen too are:

  • Ruscoe
  • Bianco
  • Macrare
  • Carmicheal
