i think someone overlooked the sarcasm emoji .... :p !
Yeah but if someone is sarcastic in their post, you've got to assume that they might be sarastic in their emojis. And a sarcastic emoji used sarcastically would signify that it's not sarcastic at all. It's too hard.

P.S- With Tasmania now a go it's important we keep one eye on our future and make sure we invest in enough draft capital in the coming years so we aren't left short for quality young talent when draft concessions inevitably begin.
I actually think this helps us. It means heavy draft concessions for one team, scooping up the cream of the talent. Meaning it'll be harder for the other teams in the bottom half to bounce back through topline picks. Plus Tassie will be a fertile poaching ground.

I think GC and GWS entry into the comp was a factor in the Cats being able to stay up for so long - bottoming out didn't come with a bounce when you didn't get top picks for doing so. So the stronger teams that were better placed to develop their recruits didn't get overtaken by the sheer talent that the other teams - excpet the expansion teams -were able to bring in.

Ollie Lord dropped by Port Adelaide.

As much as I like Himmelberg at that price it’s pretty prohibitive.

Lord is big, aggressive and would come a lot cheaper. He’s speculative but if we retain Johnson he’d be a good complement and if Ash wants to go back to SA he’d be one I’d be asking for in return.

We are definitely talking to HH, I have a slight connection there.

I like him as a defender, that’s where he plays his best imo.
The talk about Himmelberg being expensive presupposes he will go to the highest bidder.
If he decides to come to Collingwood, it will be on less money than he could get elsewhere.
Then it would just be a case of whether GWS matches.
I they do, it would be about what we would be prepared to give up in a trade.
First round pick - yes.
Two first rounders - no.

Isn't he a FA?
I wouldn't be entering any trade discussions.

Having lunch with his old man in the next 2 weeks - any questions :)

Himmelberg the swingman is no selling point for me. If you fork out what he's going to cost you'd damn sure wanna know where you intend on playing him.

I don't see a role up forward for him. He's only marginally better than McStay by that position.

Defence is where we could use more tall players but I would have expected cheap depth rather than top price.

It makes for an interesting rumour and not sure how I feel about it one-way or another.

This is exactly how I feel about him tbh.

Played a good game against Richmond a couple weeks back. Competes well. Good hands. Definitely something to work with

It's the 22 to 26 demographic we're seriously lacking. We're pretty lucky Sidebottom and Pendlebury have stuck around playing good footy for so long

This.

There’s still a gap in our list in the 22-26 range.

Daicos, IQ, Lippa, Murphy, Hill.

Good, but not an inspiring list.

We need to regenerate over the next two off seasons and target players in this range. Hence why I wouldn’t be against giving up our first for someone like Bergman.

Our worst 5 players are the best of any AFL side.
This is how teams get judged as the best.
Add a Parish or Himmelberg and we are cooking.

Carlton for example have 10 to fifteen stars. The rest are ordinary.
Simple

This is our 22-26 players

Beau
Bianco
Kelly
Murphy
Richards
IQ
Carmichael
Kreuger
Josh Daicos
Lippa
Johnson
Wilson
Noble
Frampton
Maynard

There's a 20 year old who is quite handy. It's a shame he's not a couple of years older. We'll have to wait a couple of years for him to improve the 22-26 year old player list.

Daicos, Daicos, McCreery, IQ, Lippa, Hill, AJ, Murphy, Noble, Ginni, Frampton. All 26 or under who are best 22.

Then we have Macrae, Allan, Carmichael, HH, Reef and Kreuger who fit that bill too who all look like they are on the cusp of taking the next step.

Not as bad as you’re making out in terms of our age demographic.
