It’s interesting that JDG got a better deal including dropped behavioral clauses because the Saints were lurking.I think it’s easier for Pies fans to deal with losing Grundy if they can turn him into a villain. I don’t subscribe to that. Good luck Brodes, every week except vs Collingwood.
The previous admin were stealing a living but that doesn’t make feel sorry for Grundy.BS.... The previous admin could have said no but they didn't. They could have said no to Beams but they didn't. They could have said no to Phillips, Stephenson and Cox too but didn't. Stop taking the easy option because it suits your narrative. Treloar does the right thing to help the club out and they screwed him over. This is all on the club.

IIRC Grundy played the "return to Adelaide" card & Collingwood caved in.Not a villain or dud sr just a limited tap ruckman who isn't an marking threat.
The contract was as much the clubs fault as his and his manager.
Any way you look at it we mismanaged Grundy. Being too stingy to pay out for a fulltime ruck coach stinks and certainly led to him being a limited tap ruckman.IIRC Grundy played the "return to Adelaide" card & Collingwood caved in.
If GW had been there at the time and was doing the negotiations, he would have said "there's 5 years, take it or leave it" & on more manageable coin.
Be an idiot to boo someone who wanted to stay
Collingwood typed up several other far more reasonable contracts which he flat out rejected before they caved in to his demands and offered him that one. If he really loved the club that much, he wouldn’t have held out for the ludicrous terms he wanted.
Not a question of minimizing the pain.Grundy may be a ‘limited’ tap ruckman but he is a standout as one of the best rucks we have had in eons strictly in tap numbers and tap to advantage numbers and he also got a crazy amount of possessions for a ruckman. Even in his worst games he was still way better than anything we have now or have had for a while. We can talk him down to minimise the pain but the guy is a very good footballer.
Think it was a part bad luck, part bad club management, part bad list management and part inflexibility from Grundy + agent.Consequences of his own actions? You're speaking as if he murdered someone.
Before he could sign that contract, Collingwood are the ones who typed it up and put it infront of him. Both parties played a part in what happened in the end. Both had some suffering as a result of it.
Move on.
I agree with Jen and your sentiment. It’s just business and the mess was ultimately our making, but I will boo Brody when he runs out on Kings birthday. It’s part of the Collingwood pantomime. If you’re not with us, you’re against us. I love it.

And bringing in Beams. Great stuffMostly Eddies Making as he would of Given Grundy what ever he wanted at that Time as he was Top 10 Player in the AFL
It is quite funny. On another note.....can you believe this shite, he's no where near these champs...
“He might be better than them”: Russell’s massive call on Ollie Henry’s potential
“I probably shouldn’t put him in this bracket...”www.sen.com.au
They were strange players to compare him to. If you're looking for a star to compare his absolute, develops extraordinarily, highest possible level - it's James Hird.On another note.....can you believe this shite, he's no where near these champs...

I'm a fan of his talent, but geez, saying he could be better than de goey haha. Until he fixes up defensive and contest stuff, he aint gonna play midfield. big call indeed.

James Hird was extraordinary to say the least. Absolute Star. Could also play anywhere. He was as good as it gets at AFL level. They were strange players to compare him to. If you're looking for a star to compare his absolute, develops extraordinarily, highest possible level - it's James Hird.
Agree Not even close. Just saying that Hirdy is much more the player type that Ollie would aspire to, rather than Dusty Martin.James Hird was extraordinary to say the least. Absolute Star. Could also play anywhere. He was as good as it gets at AFL level.
Haven't seen anything too special from Ollie yet.
