If we’re only taking two at the draft, we don’t really need that flexibility.

To think he could’ve been playing QAFL or worse, for Carlton.

So true, It's come out once Dew was off you, you were done up there. They've let players like Leggy, will brodie and jarryd lyons leave and been exposed when they've flourished at other clubs in better enviroments. No sympathy for Dew or GC from me

I try not to think about GC and all their consessions because it makes me want to shake the shit out of the AFL.

This year is crazy getting the 3 top 10 boys through their academy. GC picking players from up there is a good idea and good for the afl though. We don't pick too many QLD boys, Dayne beams, josh thomas, lachie keefe are the only ones I can think of. But the big boy Walter could be pretty handy for us

Don't remind me bruv. The only competition in the world who does this. It's very frustrating for the average supporter. Now Norf is getting the crown jewels for being just plain crapo

Nobody picks many Qld boys because 90% of them are tied to northern academies. The only reason we got Beams was because he refused to align himself with GC when they were establishing themselves in preparation to enter the AFL, and Hine had his work cut out convincing him to do that.

If I was to guess we could go one of 2 ways?
1. We give away our pick 19 for maybe a pick 50 and a FR1 then use 33 and 50 in the draft. elevate 2 rookies, possibly very likely rookie Kelly. Keep one list spot free for a desisted free agent or maybe another kid similar too Steene.
2. Most likely outcome we use 19 & 33 upgrade 2 rookies , give Kelly or even Riuscoe a rookie spor. Keep a spot free.
I think we would even be open too using 19 and maybe trading 33 for a future round 2

Don't understand why another team would go for senario 1.

Pick 19, the last 1st round pick of 2023 for their 1st next year, which is likely much better than 19, plus a pick 50. How does that work?

It’s really not good for the AFL to have two sides granted access to the sweep of talent across QLD and then into NT in the case of GC. You want it spread throughout the league.

IMO, the AFL and ALL clubs should run the northern academies with players supported to realise their dreams rather than gifted to clubs.
