I’m pretty sure Bucks didn’t let players drink before a game.
This snagbreac imposter is a bit weird.
I stated I got that info from Dane Swan's biography, hence the reference in the original post (Swan, 2016).

How am I weird? I am not an imposter for old snag, despite what everyone seems to think. I get attacked by an army of militant people who are anti-difference and aren't interested in ideas which dare go against the eight ball. Sorry, for being me.

Just as a by the way, as I have said before: I chose my user because it means magpie in Irish (Gaelic). For anyone wishing to check this, you can use Google Translate. The old 'snag' wasn't a 'breac' and I have been using this name on Reddit for quite some time, long before my BigFooty account came into existence.

Which big money players are changing teams? So far it's literally just been Cerra. It's not as if big money players are being exchanged a lot this season, so I would like to know how you're gauging our cap to be bursting.
Do you listen to any GW interviews?... Every bloody interview he states how tight our cap is

so is the valuation of draft picks, it’s the proven product v the unknown quantity.
Agree. Maybe I'm overrating him due to the occasional electrifying moment , but I think Bobby Hill is tracking to be above par for a late teens pick. But a late teens pick would be seen as an outrageous price.

Does he mean “tight” as in we’re spending close to 100% whereas a list that just finished 17th really should be closer to 95%?

Or does he mean “tight” as in we’re actually in decent shape, but need to build a war chest for next year to cover players who are coming out of contract?

Or does he mean “tight” as in code for “player agents, don’t hassle us for big pay rises, we’re banking money for the future”

Don’t forget the club officials said that we didn’t have to offload our players last year - we chose to because it was better for our long term benefit

(As bad as things were, imagine if we had to pay a club a pick 19 to take a player and his salary off our list like GCS are doing this year!)

Absolutely. No way known they now don't pick JHF 1st. This is good news for us.
That little former Saints player turned TV head has done us a favour.
Makes wonder who's pocket he is in?

Tight as we need enough to contract JDG, Moore , Maynard and King next year.😀

I wouldn't be dead against trading our future first (if we somehow end up reactivating that option). If a good value proposition comes up we have to consider it.

Even last year, I was happy with how our future first trade turned out. Gave us the chance to bring in some young talent and start to build that base we need. Getting these in a year before Daicos arrives was useful as well.

Finishing 17th was the problem (though I say, still not major). If we were going to do that, we could have kept the pick and then tanked a bit to ensure we had pick 1. Sack Buckley earlier and there's pick 1 right there.

The thing is we weren't a bottom 4 side this year. Fewer injuries and no coaching change and we would certainly have been higher than that. Next year we should be even better. Definitely not a bottom 4 side in my opinion. Only way we finish bottom 4 is injuries or if the new coaching staff take a while to get going.
In hindsight you're still happy? Gee most of us aren't

Do you seriously think we had the choice to keep Stephenson Phillips and Treloar (combined salaries of nearly 2 million) on our list for 2021?

We clearly are at 100% of what we are able to pay for this year, we're getting rid of a few depth players and replacing them with depth players, and have another massive salary cap squeeze coming next year with our most crucial players coming out of contracyt.

Where have I been? I must have missed Hill’s 97 goal season last year when he equalised Daic’s record for the most goals in a season for a non key position forward.

Yeah... I don't get the Hill feeding frenzy either.. I think I've seen him play 2-3 times and he seemed pretty invisible... if you can see something that is invisible..

I have no idea.

But people who did know our salary cap position are claiming we could have.

Melbourne's Afterpay strategy will come undone one day. Essendon's moneyball isn't guaranteed (buyer beware if the price is as low as you think). And Hawthorn's blind fire sale is just stupid. This trade period we've made smart trades. We haven't done anything stupid. We've done intelligent moves which benefit us. We're not trying to cheat the system, we're working with it for players who can't get games but are good enough.

Granted I don't grasp all the nuances of Afterpay... but it seems suss.. smacks of using one credit card to pay off another...

Totally right mate , some of us say the funniest things!
why would a team in rebuild mode pick up Gunston? waste of draft picks .
Why would Gunston leave Hawthorn at his age and go to Collingwood? his only motivation would be money.
we have enough experience in the forward line with Elliot and Mihocek makes no sence to add another 32 year old.
In regards to giving away our future first rounder? i think not! possibly only for a top 3 pick would only consider current first rounders from nth gws, suns .
29 actually turning 30 soon

The problem is that those who really know, have daicos way ahead of JHF, norf know that daicos is clearly number one and will take him at 1. We would do the same thing, if you want the best player in the draft then you have to earn it. Happy to be wrong but I am sure they take daicos at one

I posted on this thread 3 weeks ago and nothing has changed.

There is nothing surer than North picking JHF at number 1. They will not bid on Daicos just to spite Collingwood.

Have you watched this kid play in the finals against men.

As good as Daicos is and will be, right now JHF is ahead of him.

I’ve watched Daicos play against men WITH Horne, guess who had the better game?

Having said that I’d take Horne No.1, only because Nick’s development has been stifled by Covid. When next year rolls around though don’t take it too hard when Daics puts up 25 disposals and 2 goals against your mob.

I agree North will pick JHF at 1 for a few reasons
and he is a very good prospect
One point I will make though is that the standard of SANFL seniors is not what it was.
I spotted 2 guys in the GF who made Mick Nolan look anorexic
