Watching Teakle last week made me wince. He is just what we need at the moment. He looked far tougher in the contest than some watchers on this forum had implied.

He looked very handy in the ruck although he was pitted against Krueger most of the time, he rag dolled him and drove it forward almost at will.

Ned Long had better show something at some stage to make me feel we didn't blow it. Smith is too far away from a senior debut to have any impact for 2 or 3 years but I do like the look of him.

But our needs in the big man department are for the present. I wonder why we were so interested in Teakle for so long. Even before the preseason Hind had said we had been keen on him.
Long has nothing to do with Teakle. It was Smit or Teakle

In our system and at the right price he could be back playing great footy.

IF he is still using then it's obviously a big NO.
Agree to disagree. I don't want him. He's a shit bloke & a shit kick.

And he's on ridiculous money he wasn't worth to start with.

It would be a Beams disaster all over again.

If Petracca is as unhappy as you suggest & they'd be a risk to lose him, I can't imagine they'd let Oliver go as well. Makes no sense to lose both.

While it's nice to dream about petracca or Oliver just how would we go about getting either?
We don't have the picks. You'd have to trade a de goey or j daicos as a starting point.
They aren't letting either go

Reef and our first get Oliver?

Agree with Trac he isn't going anywhere.

Freo have our first.
Dees would want either 2 firsts and a first and an established player.

The next year's first.

Depends how much Dees are over him.

They need a culture shift badly.

If we can't get bailey smith, or even more unlikely Petracca, we should be all in on LDU next year as a RFA (if he is one as I am led to believe). We should have the cash to attract him with any retirements over the next 2 seasons and we wouldn't have to trade anything for him.

2 of Smith, Trac or LDU would be the dream but unlikely.

Why would Dee's be over Oliver? And he's their culture problem?

If he's still got his issues, why would anyone else be interested in him?

And it would appear Dee's 'culture' problems don't start & end with Oliver anyway.

Yes forget Smith, huge risk to take after his injury given his playing style. Chase Trac instead. Sign LDU next off season. Draft McGuane. We might never lose a game again.
Don't know if we have that draft capital for Trac. Especially if we need to pick up McGuane. We would need to trade a player to get him. Maybe Bruz? ;)

His kicking makes Tay Adams look like Darren Jarman
Agree but Melbourne gave him a million a year for like 7 years. They rated him mostly for his inside handball game.
I agree that he looks overweight and his skills have gotten bad. Maybe with a bit more time Melbourne might do what we did to Grundy.

Moyle to extend with GC… can’t understand why he would do that??

Would play weekly and earn more elsewhere

My disappointment is tempered by the fact I think the pies have a future primary ruck in Smit, who is impressive for his age ✅

I'm disappointed because we had Moyle right under our noses playing for our VFL side a few years ago....

I know you’re winking but never, if he was hiding duel ACL’s and taking one for the team and never had any intention of donning an opposition jumper, even then no. :straining:

If he played for us he'd only be allowed to extract and handball, and he's the best in comp at that when fit.
Would not let him kick or do any thinking on the field though.
If he's too far off the rails (or a flog) he's a no go, but I do think environment is a big factor, particularly if someone has shown they can get it together for periods of time.

Oliver is damaged goods and a culture killer Don’t need the risk of what his rehabilitation would have on the club. Along similar lines of the tarryn Thomas talk. Why upset the balance when it is going so smoothly
