IMO expecting another 5 years of his best footy is ridiculous.
Everyone, and I mean everyone, all thought Dusty would have years as a dominant permanent forward at the end, given his one on one ability.
That didn’t exactly work out.
It will be extremely disappointing if we lose out to coach-less Weagles for services of James Peatling. Let’s put our best foot forward on the trade front and get him. He’s exactly what we need.

IMO the comparison is fair. One had a huge gambling debt, got himself hooked on Oxy, manipulated friends and teammates to score gear and deliberately put his car into a pole. The other sometimes like to show people how to cook rigatoni.

What is it with these clubs wanting first rounders for fringe players and old blokes who can’t even get on the park? Yet according to oppo supporters Noble is worth a 3rd rounder. I don’t get it.

A comparison to Dusty after the injury is fair. He never returned to the same level he was, and his injury occurred when he was around 28/29 as well. I don't think paying what the Demons would want is worth the risk, particularly with his contract.

Beams didn’t have mental health problems until he suddenly did. The year before we got him, he was a gun. Nobody knows what will happen with Petracca. But right now he’s bunkered down, hiding from an intense media circus, battling back from a big injury and clearly has some emotional baggage to work out of his system. I too hope he returns fully to his magnificent best but it’s far from certain and we should not be paying a trade cost as though he’s a shiny new Ferrari because he simply is not. A risk discount needs to be built into whatever price we’re willing to pay.
As an aside, if turning-29 Petracca is worth say two first rounders and $1.2m salary, what is Harley Reid worth? Or Nick Daicos? Must be 4 or 5 first rounders by the same yardstick?

Richmond will have heaps of cap space, no players, and will want heaps of picks.
Normally someone of Lynch’s age and recent spate of injuries, will be a nothing pick and we can pay his wage.
This year, it’s the opposite. Someone on here described it as a reverse salary dump.

It’s probably an unpopular opinion, but I’m happy to trade Richards for a good draft pick.
Doesn't matter if it's unpopular - all good.
Is it because you don't rate Richards?
What pick would be acceptable? And would you take that pick to the draft or used it as part of another deal?

Yep. I’d probably back Petracca to play good footy for those 5 years as his preparation etc is more Pendles like than Dusty like, but expecting him to have Pendles or even Steele like longevity is still very optimistic.

Beams had mental health issues the year before we got him. They were well known in footy circles and were often talked about on the Lions board.
From what I’ve been told, Brisbane were absolutely flabbergasted when we caved in and gave them two firsts (albeit late ones) for him.
Still a pick above 35. Richards obviously 40s. Maynard is teens. Moore single figures.

For example, pick 58 in the 2001 draft was a good one. So was pick 5 in the 2005 draft.
