Definitely see this coming season as the last dance for the pies, a lot going to depend on injuries and the form of the pensioners on our list. Fading stars that they are, and we do have a lot of them in the 30+ category.

If we fall short, we are going to have to go to the well, trade ourselves into the next couple of drafts and rebuild the list.
Wouldn't say "definitely", it is a strong possibility.

Literally makes ZERO sense to not get Tomlinson, the cupboard is absolutely bare currently for KPD.
If someone picks up AJ or Markov then sure. But we need to make 3 draft selections and everyone else has a contract. I think we are going to take 2-3 tall KPP in the draft and hope that between Moore, Dean, Frampton, Howe, Maynard, McInnes and the new players, we can cover a couple tall opposition forwards.

The moment we re-signed reef and long was the moment we washed our hands of Tomlinson. Unless we put HH on inactive list and trial him through pre-season.
I like the idea. With HH injured until late in the season the only reason why you wouldn't add Tomlinson imo would be because of cap space. Let's get it done.

I think Pendles might retire. The others will go when they're pushed (unless it's a significant injury) - it'll be called retirement though.

I'm betting on Howe and Sidey to be allowed to roll on and Titch to be pushed but it'll depend on next year's form. Cox might depend on Smit and Steene.
Also if Condon comes in and performs close to AFL standard then Cox probably won't be offered a contract unless he has an outstanding season.

That could be a reason too. Maybe cap is tight given we decided to use all the rookie list spots and less on the seniors, and are paying big dollars to houston and perryman.
But I'm not sure if or when they'll pull the trigger on HH, they may see his recovery goes and could open up a spot even preseason, or.. MSD.

We'll wait and see.

Reefs last 3 games as a defender

Stats look good but it is VFL so who knows.

For someone that hadnt trained there until late in the season, I'd say he went pretty well. As well as to be expected.
The would also give him spells in the middle as well as down back.

It's such a shame that HH did his knee - I thought he was just about to explode.
He has strength, speed and footy smarts.
Can't wait to see him back.

Yeah, really sucks for him. I was just watching part of that swans vfl game earlier and you feared the worst at the time. Poor kid.

Will be gutted if we lost Markov despite the intention to re-rookie him.

I love oleg's personality and the way he goes about it. However there is a reason he is at his 3rd club, he isn't that good:cry:

With houston coming in he is just injury depth now. Assuming parker has a really solid pre season and gets the chance to nail down a spot. Need Quaynor back at his best too, and for the love of god leave frampton back, no throwing him around to fill holes. Dean needs another pre season or two under his belt, like the look of him though.

Do we know what we're paying Houston? Becuase he was on a contract that was favourable for Port, so have we restructured the contract with him coming over? If it's the same then he's not getting paid near what Perryman is.

If Moore goes down you really want both Dean and Frampton holding down both spots?
Think we are going to have to draft 2 tall defenders. We can't take Moore's availability for granted. Drafting a kpf isn't a priority as we can always swing Howe forward and also now have the added benefit of having membrey as fwd cover.

This side can function with a decimated fwd line, especially when it is our kpf's who are out with injuries, but we will struggle mightily if our kpd stocks are struck with injuries.

Not totally sure, but I assume its upwards of 800k, but I assume its decent, but don't think there is any word to back that up. But we're paying perryman decent coin.

I like some of the things he did when he spent time in the midfield. Also did some nice things down back, but my biggest memory is this great moment were he busted though a pack with great acceleration, dished it off, followed up with the handball recieve, then after his disposal stopped dead becaused the double effort left him absolutely cooked. Was pretty eye opening how far he still is off the fitness standard.

Hopefully this is the ore-season where he takes the next step with that fitness issue.

Basically, we're going to have to see Dean go up a level next year. It's not out of the question but it is a concern, especially if Moore gets injured at any stage
Moore is actually nearly the most important player in the team now
Unless we can find another solid tall defender we can’t afford for him to go down
Hopefully his form also rebounds from 24

Really hope so. I went to some really early training sessions this year and he was doing a mountain of extra running. I fear he may run out of time, but fingers crossed.
Yeah, pre-season I felt he took a step forward. Hopefully his pre-season is twice the amount. It's time and he would know that.
Hopefully was doing lots of mountain hill running while in europe with his gf.

I’m hoping the following…

1. We use 2 picks for a key defender and key forward.
2. We save our third pick for the yearly SSP fatal four way where Tomlinson is chosen.
3. HH is put on ice and we can get some much needed ruck/forward cover in Hayes.

Flawless Victory - Fatality - 2025.
