Good option as he would be cheaper in regards to our draft hand.Him and Titch in and under would be cool to watch.
Rubbish - this is absurd delusion.Well you'd hope something changes cause it's not a once off. We keep making the same mistake with our first round pick trades. Our trades for "elite" players that we overpay for like Treloar, Beams, Schultz have all been thoroughly underwhelming. We're still yet to attract a genuine elite FA.
Our best trades have been from spotting unproven talents that we trade for with very little like Crisp, Cameron, Hill.
You can’t plan for the serendipity of injuries.A very handy short term fix in our current situation. Ruck/forward who has kicked 2 goals today.
Good names, are they realistic targets though?Cumming or Perryman maybe
You only need to look around the league to see 30, is no longer as close to the cliff as in the past.Other than Nick, we don’t have a single other developing young player on our list in a key position or midfield spot that projects as elite.
That’s pretty dire straights right there.
Particularly when at the start of next year we’ve got guys like Pendles (37yrs old), Mitchell (31), Mihochek (32), McStay (29), Moore (29), DeGoey (29).
That just reinforces the lottery of the draft - otherwise you’d be offering 10 “Harvey Reid’s”, to make your point.Harley Reid says hi
NM, HAW and Carlton (over the years),How is Colby going? Is he top 22 this year in a top 5 team? When do you think he will be?
You are being silly with the draft comments.
So answer this….how many 1st or 2nd year players (18-19) make a difference for a top 8 team?
So stop quoting players in bottom 6.
And stop quoting players that are top 10.
It’s a rubbish argument.
I wouldn’t describe the draft as a lottery. Obviously the top 20 picks are more likely to make it, but getting decent players beyond that is not just down to luck. That just reinforces the lottery of the draft - otherwise you’d be offering 10 “Harvey Reid’s”, to make your point.
Hindsight is wonderful but at the time I said I thought we should’ve traded Grundy when his contract demands were so excessive. We could’ve easily got 2 first round picks and maybe strengthened our 2nd round and even though he was a proven player there was a big history of second string ruckman who change clubs and become good players so replacing him on the money he was on shouldn’t have been a huge concern. Cameron for us, Nankervis, McEvoy, Boyd have all played in flags after changing clubs.
He said we have failed to attract a decent FA. You shift the goal posts and ask him to show you a club that has attracted 3 FA's at low costRubbish - this is absurd delusion.
Apart from Geel who have the advantage of offering lifestyle, name me 3 Clubs who’ve continually excelled in attracting elite FA, at a low cost.

Only Daniel Wells and his body couldn't hold up.Below is a quote from his post - I haven’t shifted any goal posts.
“We're still yet to attract a genuine elite FA.”
It’s quite amusing the bagging of hine. In the last 15 years we’ve won 2 flags, played in multiple finals, prelims and grand finals. And yet still we suck at drafting and recruiting. We haven’t had the luxury of low draft picks often for many reasons. Compare us to clubs like Carlton or the bombers who despite having low picks for decades have achieved SFA
An AFL club doctor told me that at the time we recruited Wells it was pretty well known in AFL circles that his body was finishedOnly Daniel Wells and his body couldn't hold up.
If only. The few games he played you could see, he was on another level to most. Pity
I realise you can't know what would happen in the future. You can’t plan for the serendipity of injuries.
If the recruiters could have predicted the future - then I’m sure their choices would have been different.
Couldn't predict Freeman's injuryYou can’t plan for the serendipity of injuries.

Cumming is still OOC. Perryman to hawthorn looks very likely. Cumming is a beast, would love to get himGood names, are they realistic targets though?
Well we have no choice but to trust them, but Bytel playing in the VFL isn't currently helping us much at the moment.I think this year Teakle would have been a better opinion than Bytel for us. But I'm no recruiter so I trust the people who do the job and got us a premiership last year.
Furthermore, it is not as if Hine has gone rogue. The match committee outline the types of roles we are after and Hine tries to find the players. The problem with winning in 2010 we have tried to find a Leigh Brown that could play multiple roles. We ruined Dawes. He was a good 2nd forward. We tried to have him play chop out in the ruck and when that didn't work we moved him on. Tried it with the Big Q. That failed. Tried it with Jesse White. That didn't work. We couldn't go after big names as our salary cap was reportedly under strain from 2011 Furthermore as you highlighted we haven't had the endless supply of draft picks Carlton, Essendon and Melbourne have enjoyedIt’s quite amusing the bagging of hine. Not having access to top talent is a repercussion of being up there for a few years and winning a flag. Can’t do much about it without FA. You have rises and falls.
Chad Rintoul could have been a force in our midfield back in the day, had he been able to play longer.Only Daniel Wells and his body couldn't hold up.
If only. The few games he played you could see, he was on another level to most. Pity
