If you're right it means North will take Aish with 17 in the draft. Both North and Bears screw us over that way.

Then again hopefully he still comes to us via trade.
Not sure that Brisbane would do that. After that trade is done it would make sense to then get our 2nd rounder and future 2nd rounder (freeman) rather than nothing for him in the psd.
I'm sure that ALL outstanding trades will get sorted in the next 2 days with any uncontracted players.
Better to get something in return than nothing....its a business.

The Adam Treloar to Collingwood saga continues to drag on.

The Magpies are prepared to hand over two first-round picks for Treloar and a second-round pick. However AFL.com.au understands the delay is related to whether the Giants hand over pick No.27, which they hold, or pick No.28, which is likely to come in from Carlton.

I'm calling bulltish on that one.

The Age had something this morning about Carlton forking over 20 AND 21 for the 'GWS Four', now suddenly they're getting them for just pick 28?

Haggling over pick 27 vs pick 28 doesn't pass the smell test. We're only waiting if it's pick 20/21, otherwise it'd be done by now.

Does anybody else feel that we are going to be without a seat at the table when the music stops?

"CARLTON is set to lose another gun goalkicker after Troy Menzel completed a medical examination with Adelaide. The Herald Sun on Tuesday revealed Menzel could depart Ikon Park in exchange for Crow Sam Kerridge and pick 28.

The shock move would continue the Blues’ goalkicking exodus after farewelling Jarrad Waite (North Melbourne), Jeff Garlett (Melbourne), Eddie Betts (Adelaide), Lachie Henderson (Geelong) and Tom Bell (Brisbane Lions).

Menzel, 21, is contracted for next year and widely rated as the Blues’ second-most prized youngster, behind best-and-fairest winner Patrick Cripps.
The Blues would try to send pick 28 to GWS for Jed Lamb, Lachie Plowman, Andrew Phillips and Liam Sumner — a rare four-for-one trade.

Carlton would effectively secure five players for Menzel, accelerating the wooden-spooner’s list overhaul. Pick 28 could then be sent from the Giants to Collingwood to help finalise the Adam Treloar trade.

But the Blues hold a strong draft hand, set to go to the talent pool armed with picks 1, 20 and 21. They have also secured two first-round picks next season.

NORTH Melbourne midfielder Ryan Bastinac is set to join Brisbane in a move that could land the Roos pick No.17 in return. The Lions have tabled a four-year offer for Bastinac, 24, and are eyeing him as a replacement for wannabe Collingwood midfielder James Aish.

The deal for Bastinac would see Brisbane give North Melbourne No.17, the selection the Lions received from West Coast for Jack Redden. In return, the Roos would potentially give Brisbane a trio of later picks, including No.34, No.38 and No. 40, boosting the Lions’ points balance to bring in their two academy players."

We deserve Pick 27 with the deal that they are getting.

Cmon Dekka... the threat to walk should have been made today.
Why should he. They know we want him and they know we want him before Aish.
GWS and Bris got the choice, either deal with us or lose their prized player to the draft. Both Aish and Treloar are doing a magnificent job in holding off the suitors and forcing their clubs to deal with us, whether they like it or not ( 99% guaranteed the latter option ).
Carltoon is the laughing third, the longer they delay, the better it gets for them. All fun and games.

Could those draft spots 26-28 actually have MAJOR difference in value?
Couldn't be much, just wondering Coz of these silly f$&@"@g academy players.
Equivalent to pick 71, 26 points. I'd doubt it for gws re adjacent players for those amount of points.
It may well be that we are waiting for the pick 20 or 21 for the 4 Carlton players. Hine may have someone in mind for that pick that won't be there at 26/27/28.
Still a fair bit of time to go in the trade period.

Carlton are ******* insane, that Menzal deal is one of the dumbest I have seen in years.

The only way I can see it going down is if Carlton think his knees are cooked, and Adelaide, understanding that he needs a knee-reco soon on the knee he had LARS surgery on is willing to give up Kerridge who wants to leave anyway to take a punt.

No I don't think we will be left without a seat when the music stops.

Do you believe GWS will want to cost themselves a deal that involves 2 first round draft choices?
Do you also believe Brisbane will want to cost themselves a future 2nd round next year plus more this year when they have another highly rated academy kid next year?

No, we will be sitting on the table.

Would surely go before 7

To who?

1. Carlton - Weitering
2. Brisbane - Schache
3. GC - wouldn't take him
4 & 5 Essendon could be a danger now with two high picks
6. Demons - possible but can't see it.
7. Us

Any chance we can work out something with GC to trade 7 and future 1st for 3 and maybe a steak knife (Matera). Take Treloar at 3. Cost is still 2 x firsts but GWS get nothing for being campaigners.

Agree. Collingwood would not hold out for 1 pick difference in the twenties.

Deranged journo methinks.

You forgot one thing - Bowen is guessing and got this one horribly wrong.

This deal has gone on for over a week and we still don't look like getting a result, so forgive me if I actually believe it.

I get what you are feeling about the Seats and Tables
