Slighty off topic:

Spoke to a local lad who has played quite a few games for an interstate club, even won their B'n'f a few years ago. He's back home staying away from the club due to his name being possibly up for trade. Slightly confronting when you witness this up close, the lad clearly wants to stay but he may be forced to go to get the a deal done for his club that drafted him.

Reckon Jordy is overrated on this board compared to what Riewoldt would do on our forward line with Moore.

Think it was Hine who said Jordy won't be traded. He is not the puppet master.
I'd suggest Jordan is actually underrated by the board.
Hes to me, uber talent.
The next big thing for us if he gets middle minutes.

That's my hope with Scott, Adam, Taylor, Maybe even the Rock one, or it will be some long winters.
Is winter coming?

He's had 2 seasons and shown improvement so I think he's tracking fine. Jury is still out if he becomes elite but I'd rather give him a shot here than see him tear it up at a club like Richmond. He'll get better with age and opportunity as the team builds around him.

Free agency compensation almost certainly will be scrapped next year, meaning any big names who are out of contract now could be traded if their clubs don't think they will be there long time.

Rockliff and Fyfe the two most obvious ones here.

Agree 100%. Kid will be a gun clearance player & some on here will have egg on their faces.

It is never going to happen but I would trade him for Jack if we are serious about getting a flag and make other appropriate moves. (bringing in rockliff and Motlop)

Settle down, with the limited young talent we have on our list and lack of good draft picks this season there's no way we should look at moving DeGoo on? In that scenario we still have issues with our backline so we won't be contesting for a top 4 berth so just doesn't seem worth it.

Trading can radically change the time frame to top four. Look at Geelong with Danger.

Players like Wells, Rockliff, and Riewoldt accelerate it.

In an 18 team competition you have to be bold to win a premiership. Time for the club to be more bold, to be the big club it thinks it is.

It's got nothing to do with falling in love with a player.
We got exactly what Greenwood always was. A decent player who is no world beater. Exactly what we are doing with Mayne this year. I bet he will be worried what we may try to do to him in 2 years as well.
If we had visions of him turning into a champion then that's our stupid fault. He is giving us what he has always given. Same as Jessie White. Just because they wear our jumper doesn't mean they should improve 30%. I think it's poor you don't. That's fine.
Good to see we've learned a lot from this and have offered a 32 year old a 3 year contract and a borderline spud in decline 4 years, on lucrative coin too...

I reckon Jordy is chronically underrated. Second year player who had near on identical stats to Heeney this year who everyone insists will be a superstar, yet people are constantly bagging him out and calling him overrated...
If you aren't a superstar in your second year of footy then you're suddenly overrated on this board. It's lunacy.

On Mitch Brown. We need to ask ourselves if we would be even remotely interested if his brother didn't play for us. I suspect the answer is no and if it is, the family connection should be irrelevant.

I don't want him, as I don't think he's any good. I'd more happily use our last pick on the best state league full back in the country (must come with reasonable kicking skills) and just put him in.

We can focus on a young kpp with a higher pick.

His wife plays for us...

Except as far as Adams goes...we are based in Victoria
Doesn't mean we cannot get him to us if we can offer more game time. With our backline very thin he would get games. Cannot see him getting games at Eagles and If Hamling signs at Freo he would not be first 22 at Freo. After all, there have been players wanting to go home and end up elsewhere....

On this one, Walter, I'd suggest the Goo is part of the puzzle working in our favour.
Favourite of mine, put it this way, Rockliff v De Goey no contest the Goo boy every time, not even close.
Just my opinion ofcourse, greatly respect yours too.

Marcus Adams from Doggies wants to return home to WA.........Lonagren is uncontracted at Cats. Could we perhaps swoop on one of these to sure up our back line?
Marsh now unlikely to get any takers.

Lonergan an interesting one. Uncontracted and has been significantly lowballed by Geelong, according to his manager. If he came to us, can we just forget the welcome thread and just create a roast thread ?

Umm...yes it does

I agree, but defensively we are going to struggle if we go through with a number of trades proposed this season, an injury or two in an already injury prone defensive line will spell disaster regardless of who we have up forward but yeah, being bold pays if you're in that space, don't think we are though. Also, it would really hurt us in 4-5 years time I think, we'd want to be confident we are in a window.
