Ryan is similar to Haynes from GWS.
LuckyLee I'd add:
Player type: Seems to be a natural across the half back line - not a hard runner with the ball like Noble, more of a sit back and dish off player
Best attribute: Each time I've seen him play I've been impressed with his ability to read the ball off the foot - more like a forward than a back in that respect. He's very quick to make position to intercept, takes a lot of un-contested marks as a result of his ability to read of the play.

He's a keeper and barring injury he looks to me like he's a 150 game plus player.

OUT: Moore - De Goey - Hill
IN: Ryan - Sidebottom - Macrae

FB: Quaynor - Frampton - Maynard
HB: Noble - Murphy - Markov
C: J. Daicos - Crisp - Sidebottom
HF: McCreery - McStay - Mitchell
FF: Elliott - Mihocek - Howe
FOLL: Cameron - Pendlebury - Adams
INT: Ginnivan - Ryan - Hoskin-Elliott - Lipinski
SUB: Macrae

I think Macrae as the sub with the strategy of relieving Mitchell, Pendlebury, Sidebottom or Adams.

I think they saw the impact Howe had up forward against Carlton and were hoping to hold it off until finals.

They copped the whack of Sicily tearing us a new one but weren't going to allow Stewart to do the same thing.

I really think Howe can become our most impactful forward in the finals as he gains more confidence over the coming weeks.
Good point, last Friday was the first time I've seen Stewart in two minds regarding positioning - seemed to me that he was unsure of when to leave Howe and when to mark him.

If we are talking a sub, I’d pick Carmy, simply for his ability to kick goals

We held Stewart significantly below his usual output in terms of marking and overall touches of the footy. Huge W with how much he has punished us previously. If Howe could make Andrews second-guess himself this week it would be huge

Eh, I was pretty unimpressed with how slow Carmichael looked when he played this year. Just not sure that's what I want from a sub - slow and unreliable skills is a risky combination. I think Macrae is better

Chugg and Harrison say hello
In the instance of Chugg, I have no idea what we ever saw in him. He came to the attention of recruiters after shutting down Zorko in a training run the Lions had against the Devils and had raw athletic ability so was drafted. He was installing a garage door when he was drafted.

Harrison was ready. He was rated internally and producing at VFL level. At that point, producing more than Ginnivan.

Sounds sensible to not play them given they have injury concerns. We can win without them.
There's more injured than I thought. Might give me some opportunity to post in the game thread.

Sounds like a terrific addition to the Club. Thanks for the insights!

He can run though as his combine results show:
"Was an impressive performer at the Draft Combine with his mix of speed and endurance eye-catching, recording a time of 3.01 seconds on the 20m sprint and 6:15 for the 2km time trial."

As he develops we'll probably see more of that - he has plenty of good attributes.

Damn.. another couple of injuries... Hopefully short term, reckon if we were playing a final DeGoey would have got up.

Happy for Ryan. Looking forward to seeing him play.

INS: Sidebottom, Ginnivan, Ryan
OUTS: Moore, DeGoey, Hill

Would make one of Carmichael or Macrae the sub.

It’s a bad trio of OUTs but a surprisingly strong set of INs.

I’d also have liked Cox to replace Cameron but think I’m in the minority on that one and perhaps it would be too many changes in a single week.

Maybe Fin gets a crack at it
I don't know about having a 'crack'. If he plays, and many have been preferred to him throughout the season, I will be really surprised if he makes much impression in the middle, though naturally, I will be delighted if he proves me wrong.

I feel we need his height but he's not in. There's been no indication of this and I think even he accepts he'll be unlikely to play finals.

Geelong were so far ahead of the pack last year, it wasn't even funny. We played the game of our life in the QF and still couldn't win.

This year there are 5 sides with legit claims of winning the flag. Team cohesion is far more important that resting players. They can miss a training session or 2 if they need a spell.

David King is the same bloke that loaded up on the Pies/Daicos double at the start of the year and is now crying because that ticket is in the bin.

That's a decent argument. Don't agree but yes, I can see it.

Having said that, De Goey and Hill are injured anyway.
