It’s unlikely Fin comes in at any stage for one of Mitchell, Pendles, JDG, Adams etc. because in that case we’d shift Crisp or Adams or Pendles inside more and pick a Ryan or HH or Ruscoe to replace the one that goes out. He needs two of that group to miss in order to come in.

Could equally move Pendles to HB and add Macrae.

Who are you dropping from the HB line with Maynard returning? That would leave us with IQ, Noble, Markov, Maynard, Crisp and Pendles rolling off HB… Maybe if Hill goes out late Pendies shifts that way, but I suspect HH and Ginnivan were emergencies for that scenario.

I mean sure it's Carlton but you can't be serious that you'd rather the 2nd place team that's hot on our heels win than Carlton who's been largely irrelevant for the year. Win/win for sure, but some wins are bigger than others.

You know, someone’s got to finish second, and in terms of home and away ladder position, it doesn’t even matter if it’s us.

That’s definitely possible, but gut feel is he’s closer than that on the basis of Fly’s comments mid week. Unless that was fluff to keep him hungry which is possible I’m just not convinced.

Port have 7 outs this week, Grundy was just dropped for the Dees to tinker with their forward setup and there’s no Dunkley at Brisbane. Things will settle over the next few weeks barring serious injury in game because training will become more about freshening up than contest.

I can't believe the AFL STILL hasn't made the sub naming a thing. I didn't even know Mitchell was sub until I read this thread. I just assumed he was being rested.

Suspect he gets subbed on for someone else in need of a rest (like an Adams) or likely Sidebottom, depending how the game pans out.

Our clearance stats have risen this year because of Titch’s ability to get first use. If Crisp and Adams were capable of getting first use like Titch, he would never have been recruited.

But twitch is being managed. I'm not saying that twitch shouldn't play, just looking at alternatives if he gets injured

They aren’t. My scenario requires a HB or HF rolling up to cover the mid we lost. How can that make our scenarios the same if your suggestions is a mid rolling back to HB? That would leave us a mid down on our current preferred setup. If a HF or HB went out I don’t think we’d be shuffling things to make room for Macrae and was being generous with my concession he maybe gets in ahead of HH or Ginnivan.
