This isn't last yaer. We can't be satisfied with a gutsy loss. Win or die in 2023.
There is a lot different to this year. 1st for a significant portion of the year, top 4 locked up for almost 2 months, a bit more health, best % in the competition (huge difference to last year!).

last time these teams played - collingwood were missing: Sidebottom, Degoey, Howe, McStay, Elliot, Melbourne were missing: Oliver and Melkshem (who is being replaced by McDonald in the finals) - I cant see Lever and May being as dominant as they were against McInnes and Johnson.
Pretty significant adding 1040 games of experience to the side

I also think Howe will play back, we were undersized down back in this game on queens birthday, Moore and Murphy were being forced to defend Fritsch and Van Rooyen (Murphy giving up pretty much 20kg difference) and Maynard was undersized against Smith. They bring in McDonald for this game - I expect Moore to pick up McDonald, Howe - Van Rooyen, Maynard to remain on Smith and Murphy to pick up Fritsch, which will allow Moore and Howe to intercept and play off their slower opponents. Quaynor will lock down Pickett and Markov to pickup the remaining small , most likely Chandler

If this wind keeps up, it too will be a factor.

Was just thinking the same. Been some very strong gusts today.

I hate it when the wind has an influence, unless it’s a 10 goal wind we kick with in the first quarter, and then it dies for the rest of the game.😊

One of my game day rituals, when I get to the MCG, is to look at the flags on top of the stands to see how they are flying. If the wind is strong, I get worried and then obsessed with us winning the toss.

It works for me…

Doesn't wind tend to swirl around the cavernous MCG? So no real "with the wind" end to kick to?

Some of Oliver’s kicks may not come back to earth.

One player for the Dees I’d like us to pay more attention to this time is Lachie Hunter. Was almost the Dees best on KB and doesn’t get mentioned much. Reduce the impact of Brayshaw, Salem and Hunter and we’ll be well on our way to beating them.

It does swirl around, and with the solid stadium circumference at the G you don’t get the same effect as you would at an open ground. But the wind can still impact the kicking.

Time to bring out the poncho ;)
