Round Six - At Home vs The Bears

Happy Monday Wazzas, and welcome to another weekly review and there's a lot to like let me tell you!

After getting the f*ck outta Dodge with the four points and our sanity barely intact, we were back at home for a joint Heritage/Wasp Round where we hosted the Las Vegas Bears. And as it turned out it was an entertaining if subdued week, and I'm not just saying that because the bar was set so low that you had to dig to find it. The Bears have picked up a certain quirkiness that made for a decent week in the match thread. So it was almost a let down when game day came. But come it did, and it was anything but a let down.

For possibly the first time this season, we kicked the opening goal of the game thanks to FurTheWin's first of the day. And the goals didn't stop there - 12 in the first half meant that even though we only kicked three goals in both the third and fourth quarters the damage was already done, cruising to a 28 point victory to give the Van Cortlandt fans a first home win of the season, and our second in a row overall.

This means that we have jumped to 11th on the ladder, leapfrogging the Phoenix and the unfortunate Bears and are now two points off fifth spot and mere percentage off seventh spot, where next week's opponents currently sit. A real eight-pointer coming up.

Another week where a bunch of you had season-best games, this time it was Dinsdale FurTheWin Mofra Raveneyes spudmaster The Half Back TheInjuryFactory & toxic who achieved the feat.

Our half back line is the in form half back line in the league. toxic (29 disposals/8 marks) led all comers in disposals & DT points while Mofra (18 disposals/8 marks/2 tackles) & The Half Back (23 disposals/6 marks/2 tackles were also prominent.

Our midfielders put in decent shifts with Agent93 (22 disposals/6 marks/2 goals), SBYM (21 disposals/6 marks), FootyGuy13 (21 disposals/6 marks/2 tackles before going back), TheInjuryFactory 15 disposals/8 tackles/ 6 frees for/1 goal), pantskyle (12 disposals/5 marks/2 tackles/2 goals before also going into defence), spudmaster (18 disposals/8 tackles/4 frees for in a rare run in the guts) & the ruckbob all standing out.

Up front Dinsdale led the way with four goals, could have had many more with some better kicking but laid some elite pressure with four forward half tackles. Purple7x08_24 & FurTheWin kicked three goals each while Snuffaluphagus joined A93 & pants with two apiece.

• SBYM is still leading the DT/Exie point double (in the top 10 league-wide for Dream Team points no less!), as well as a joint lead disposals with FootyGuy13 and overall kicks;
• The Half Back has the most average kicks in a wonderful come back to qooty;
• pantskyle is still the tackle king and is looked upon favourably by the qumpires;
• Four frees against for Agent93 sees him take the lead in frees conceded, but is still a dead eye in front of goal with four straight and is near the top in disposals;
• Leading the way in goal accuracy though is Purple7x08_24 who has kicked twelve (12) goals straight, and is one of three Wazzas in double figures for goals joining FurTheWin (10) and full forward Dinsdale (18);
• Mofra is continuing his stellar season at CHB by leading the team in marks along with having a healthy disposal & DT point count.

Round Seven - At Home vs the OOFs​

It's the Grand Final holiday and I'm late for the pub so imma rush through this one.

We hosted the Ophidian Old Boys. They are snakes. It was the first time we've played them, they were a bit of fun.

The sim did us dirty again, gave us muddy conditions then let the new team win. We kicked straight though, otherwise it would have been a lot worse.

We dropped a spot on the ladder, and now have only one spot left to drop.

Round Nine - Away vs The Wombles

(the return of a club legend was not enough for sh*t to blow up again)​

Welcome back Wazzas to another review. We returned to premiership qooty after our first ever bye, having tuned up for the game with a win over a team made up of Wazzas from our inaugural season (season 18 for those playing at home).

We travelled to the Colosseum to face the West Coast Wonders, a team that were on a winning streak apparently and in all honesty a better posting unit than in previous seasons. Low bar, but a gain's a gain. Wonder what changed for them??

Anyhoo, the highlight of the week was the return to the club of inaugural Wazza and season 21 leading goal kicker (for both us & the league) Reginald Perrin after a five season hiatus. It's great to see him around the place again, and I'm looking forward to more goals & sh*tposts from him in the future!! And who knows - Reg's return may fire up the likes of fellow inaugural Warriors Stronzo Smoooothy Lord_Flashheart & the great man Frankston Rover to get back up and about!

Sunday rolled along and the qooty happened. It was an absolute shootout, with 38 goals scored in total. We managed to have two more scoring shots, and although our 18 goals 10 behinds is a decent accuracy this week's simhousery gave the hosts supernatural accuracy (20 goals 6 behinds) to end up 8 point victors. Thankfully the Bears & Furies also lost so remain equal last on points with us, and although we are two games out of the top eight there's only four games to go in this shortened season.

Despite the result there were plenty of season-best performances on the weekend, and that includes Reginald Perrin 's one kick-one goal masterclass in efficiency. Dinsdale FurTheWin Mesc Moo pantskyle Snuffaluphagus & TheInjuryFactory all had season-high DT scores, while Dins Piggy Smalls & SBYM all had season-high goal tallies.

Round Ten - Away vs The Swamprats​

Welcome back Wazzas, and a special welcome back to me. Got a couple of weeks worth of reviews to catch up on, so let's get cracking.

Round 10 saw us bring out the shovels and dig our way to the Underground Stadium to face the Swamprats. There doesn't seem to be a lot of argy bargy left in the season, maybe because there's no more sh*ttrucks left to play or maybe the season is beginning to wind down. Anyhoo, it was a pleasant enough week - there was Bogansport on the TV, dad jokes on tap and fires started. We also had a pretty decent turnout posting wise, which was great to see.

The game itself was doomed before it began though as one of our opponents (who also masquerades as an admin) filled in for absent match posters which was a triggering event for us, particularly those Wazzas who either lived through the events of season 19 or are otherwise students of history. We managed to take a first quarter lead but after that did literally three quarters of f*ck all to end up 43 points in the red and still stuck in 13th place on the ladder. Unlucky for some.

Best on for us this week was Agent93 with 24 disposals, 4 tackles and a goal in a season best performance. Others to have season bests were Mofra (23 disposals/9 marks), Reginald Perrin (11 disposals/2 goals) & the returning WaywardSonSon (22 disposals/10 marks). FootyGuy13 Mesc SBYM TheInjuryFactory & pantskyle also did some good stuff, while Piggy Smalls was the other multiple goal kicker from a pocket.
