    Round Three - At Home vs The Phoenix

    Happy Monday Wazzas, it's time to take a look at the week just gone. It was a big week where a lot of us gave great effort, only for that effort to be somewhat unrequited.

    We were at home for the first time in season 35, hosting the fire chickens who were fresh off the bye. Weeks with the Phoenixeriteians are normally low-key affairs, but nobody told us as we regaled the visiting East Siders with many tales. We also had a couple of milestones, with silent bovine Moo putting in 50 Warrior games and oldmate doubling that.

    Game time came and, like the trees at Dinsdale Ranch & Casa Bob, it all came tumbling down. Much like the rainy conditions that the recently recoloned philreich gave us for the second round running. Conceding the first five goals and ten of the thirteen kicked in the first half is a strategy reserved for the foolhardy or criminally insane. Which of those relates to us I'm not sure, but that's what we did. To our credit we outscored the visitors in the fourth quarter, but there are only four quarters in a game of qooty (which is why they're called quarters) so by the final siren we were 38 points in the red.

    The loss saw us drop from fifth place to tenth place. Thankfully we cannot drop that far this week because there's only three more places left to drop, but we can certainly rise more than five places so we should probably try to do that instead.

    Despite the conditions both Dinsdale and Agent93 had a game-high 23 disposals each, with the goal Dinsdale kicked the only real thing separating the two. TheInjuryFactory had a nice game, while pantskyle had the better of the ruck duel before giving Mofra a turn with the hitouts. Moo came off the bench for the second game to great effect, kicking three goals to be our only multiple goalscorer.

    The other one is more of a joint effort. Started by Raveneyes and jenga'd on top by TheInjuryFactory Dinsdale and others, it was the conversation around various World Cups which some took more literally than what was intended but descended into elite tomfoolery. There's too much to copy in here, but I'm sure you can find it if you know where to look.

    Round Four - At Home vs The Vegans

    Hey cool, it's another game preview!

    The Las Vegas Bears came to visit last week. There were two engaged teams with the visitors celebrating a couple of milestones, they introduced us to their new rapping minstrel, and we saw the return of both SBYM from a harsh European winter & Lord_Flashheart in an Attenbouroughesqe depiction of ursine mating patterns. What was also great to see was the engagement of 20 different Wazzas over the course of the week!!!

    As we all know however, activity has zero impact upon qooty. Game day duly arrived, carried on the shoulders of friend of the Warriors philreich for the third consecutive week. He didn't bring rain this week, what he did bring was pain. CursingFijian kicked the first goal of the match which was his first in Coney Island colours, however the Vegans kicked eight first quarter goals to race out to a 35 point quarter time lead. We outscored the visitors by 7 goals to 3 in the second half, but the damage was already done as we finished 18 points adrift at the final siren (admittedly inaccuracy from our opponents made things more respectable), with the Bears treated the four premiership points like a pic-a-nic basket and pilfered them back to Las Vegas.

    This means we drop one spot on the ladder, where thankfully the winless Swamprats & Demons keep us from the bottom. They play each other next week, so we'll remain above at least one of them for another round.

    While there were no obvious standout performances, there were a few worth writing about. Dinsdale was probably best on for us with 23 disposals, 4 tackles & 2 goals while spudmaster (21 disposals/3 marks/3 tackles), pantskyle (24 disposals/13 hitouts/1 goal), TheInjuryFactory (20 disposals/3 marks/1 goal), FootyGuy13 (14 disposals/4 marks/2 goals), Snuffaluphagus (17 disposals/5 marks) The Filth Wizard & Piggy Smalls (3 goals each) all put in an honest shift.
