Re: The Age: Fev deal done

This is so awesome for Brisbane

They won't trade Bradshaw.

Don't forget that Bradshaw can play full back and that JB can roam the ground or play a Quarterback type role from centre half back. Or they can go all out and put them all in the forward 50.

This gives them so much flexibility.

Voss is a smart man. He played Carlton for fools. Bradshaw and Risk were never going to leave

HAHAHAHA

Stupid Carlton

Re: The Age: Fev deal done

Maybe the gun midfielders will kick the goals? Look at WCE midfield of 05-06 or Geelongs now. Everyone is so quick to put the knife into Carlton they don't actually think.

Re: The Age: Fev deal done

Carlton must be ruing the fact that jumped the gun early and gave up 11 for McLean. I bet that wish they could have used that pick now to work out something in the forward line.

Seriously, if their list doesn't change from now, Carlton will average about 50 points a game for the year... Not including finals because they won't be there.

Re: The Age: Fev deal done

Has anyone noticed the only ones critical of carlton are the bitter baboons that follow collingwood ??? :D

Much happier with the previous deal, much rather Hendo then Bradshaw, and pick12 over a selfish, soft cry baby like Risky telly :D

Great work Swann and Icke :)

Re: The Age: Fev deal done

Vossy's not going to die wondering whilst he's still got Black, Brown and Bradshaw. They're definitely going for a flag next year when you add Fevola to that experience and quality.

Would have thought Sauce Merrit would have had a mortgage on that spot.

Re: The Age: Fev deal done

Great deal for the Blues.

Based on what we learned yesterday, Bradshaw's back is not good (2 years at best - maybe 30 games) and Rischa's form has tapered (according to all those Brisbane posters who said they'd be happy for him to go).

Much happier to get a young KPP who has 10 years good footy (taken pick 8 in the very strong 2007 draft) and the prospect of another good young KPP or just the best available at 12.

Also, Bradshaw and Rischa would have had a salary of 600K minimum between them (Bears signed Rischa at a premium to ward off the Dons). Henderson would not be on as much and pick 12 certainly won't be. So we also now have a swag of room in the salary cap to front-end long-term contracts for Gibbs, Kreuz, Murph etc.

Well done Icke and Swann.

I am happy with the deal but I wouldn't be too upset with it if I was Brisbane. Leigh Matthew nailed it in that, for at least next year, Fev will be on his best behavior and will be an absolute gun.

I reckon to all the people knocking Voss - I say good on him and Brisbane for having the balls to have a genuine crack at the flag.

I'm sick of listening to clubs and supporters crap on about re-building etc etc etc (inc Carlton).

Refreshing to see a club say ' we are going to try and win the flag !!!'.

Of course, but against a few clubs you need 2 full backs - i.e. against Hawthorn or St Kilda

Point is this gives them huge flexibility. Plus they are covered for injuries and can give any of those forwards an extra week or 2 rest when they do get hurt rather than being forced to jab them up to get them out there every week

Really happy with this result. Didn't want to lose Fev, but we got a pretty sweet package in return. Brisbane must've really rated Riska if they figure pick 12 or Henderson is of equal value. :thumbsu:

Big opportunity for Waite and Kreuzer next year. The forward line will be all there's and they'll have sublime delivery.

Massive win for Brisbane. They have been very active time will tell if they can manage to get the team to gel with so many new players that will all probably be in the starting 22.
Carlton must have really wanted to get rid of Fev if they were happy to do that.
To bad Burgoyne didnt want to go to Carlton they appear easier to deal with.

Oh dear, Carlton has no forward line. By the time Henderson is properly up and running. Judd will be 29 and had his groins removed.

Game over for Carlton. :) :thumbsu:

I still can't get over this goal to goal line.

FB- Bradshaw/ Merrett
CHB- Merrett/Bradshaw
C- Black
CHF- Brown
FF- Fevola

Just Wow.

Let me guess, you're one of those people that hasn't seen Lachie Henderson play, aren't you?

We'll play him forward. He is a versatile KP player taken at pick 8 in an exceptional draft who has done nothing wrong in his first two years of development.

Will be a very, very good player. If he had played in Melbourne for the last two seasons, he would be rated far higher.

I never, ever thought that we'd be able to get pick 12 AND Henderson. I always thought it would be one or the other with steak knives thrown in, but to get both is fantastic.

Far far better deal for the Blues than the previous one. They should be thanking Bradshaw & Rischa for saying no.

Basically getting 2 first round draft picks as Henderson is raw but a 1st rounder none the less. Bradshaw had very few years left & Rischa was just a good average player.

Where does this leave Bradshaw in a forward line of Fev & Brown? Back to defense I guess. Possible trade of Bradshaw to Sydney on the cards?

Why's he a selfish, soft cry baby? Because he wanted to stay at the team he's already at? Ridiculous.

Yeh the blues midfield is all class and will only get better over the next 2 seasons. I do think they will miss Fev though, there's only 2 100 goal forwards in the game at the moment and to draft another one will be difficult or at least take 3-4 years (barring trading one in).
Having said that the blues do have other tall options but there not yet of the calibre of Fev.

Providing we get Warnock on the park.
