We're not getting pick 1 anymore. Keeping a lid on things, I'm assuming we probably finish around 12-15.
Isn't it crazy to think that North Melbourne, the club that's received close to three years worth of first and second round assistant picks, will likely finish last again.

Every time I watch Chad Warner play, I imagine Harley Reid dishing a handball to Warner as he is running forward and I then have to go have a cold shower. This is very bad for my water usage bill in all honesty

Can't remember how many but I think someone posted a list of Nths players that were inside the top 20 of their draft year, was a shed-load of them!
Was looking at todays team vs Hawks for comparison since Hawks have so many non 1st rounders in the team. McKenzie and Weddle from last years draft is the only 1st rounders they picked that they have in the side. Just 2. They got DGB, Day, Ward, Watson all missing and before Granger-Barass they went 3 years without a 1st round pick

North on the other hand have Sheezel, Duursma, LDU, McKercher, McDonald, Powell, Phillips, Simpkin all playing (so 8) and that is ontop of resting Wardlaw (so 9) and thne having traded in 2 first rounders in Stephens, Corr and then having Logue, Stephenson, Goad, Colmenan-Jones, Hardeman, Dawson as other 1st rounders either not playing

That makes 17 1st round draft picks on the list. Insane to think about

100%. Id take him at pick 1 if we ended up with pick 1. He is the style of footballer we are desperately missing along with the fact I kind of expect him to be the best player in the draft still myself.
I thought draper was injured? In any case the write ups and highlight here and there is firming up who I want to draft in 2024. Already I am trying to play out the year;

Norf 18 (Smillie?)
WCE 17 (FOS)
Hawks 16 (Smith?)

There was talk Draper would slide to about 5 and 6. So it could work in a favour if we split 2 and get Pick 5 + Pick 11-16?

North couldn’t ask again could they?

Obscene isn't it

What they don't have is a slew of players who have tasted success at the highest level for their young talent to lean on & learn off - players like Yeo, Gov, TB, Cripps, Cole, Ryan, Sheed, Gaff, TK, Darling, Duggo, Hunt, Normboy for stoppages.

Not all have been stars, or are still stars - but they know how to win, and what a successful team looks like. It's intangible and hard to quantify, but the value is massive.

Also, you know, helps that Reid is an absolute freak

Durr, we should have traded Yeo so we can get Dylan Stephens bro. He younger and a earlier draft pick

After watching clay hall in the wafl you can see he is a long way off playing in his natural position as defensive on baller at afl level .
Willem Drew from Port is a very similar player type both in size and position .

Drew played 2 years of sanfl before playing 10 AFL games in his 3rd year .

I can see hall having a similar progression unless we have another slew of injuries.

They're in this position because of their own doing though!

We went all in for premiership 2020 (Kelly) and shit didnt work out. Norf/Hawks stripped the team back to get as much talent as they could e.g early GWS days.

They went too hard. We are lucky we still have players playing and some around the club (Boots, Duggan, Barrass, Yeo, Gov, Kelly, Cripps, Flyin, Cole, Sheed, Gaff, Darling) to help and provide advice on the little things and expectations in all facets of the game, albeit only for the next 24/36 months.

I still look at tossing Brent Harvey aside before he wanted to go as a beginning of the end moment for them. Put trading in Marley Williams ahead of letting an absolute legend retire on his own terms. Glad we didn’t do that to NicNat or Shuey

If Yeo goes down who is his replacement? is it a midfielder from the WAFL or do we move Petch/Duggan in there and bring in a fwd/def? Im leaning toward moving a senior body into the midfield.

Hall might need a couple of injuries to inside mids to get a senior debut at this stage

Sheed for sure, but would be a case of Ginbey having more centre bounces and Sheed being more in Ginbeys utility role

Unfortunately I reckon Yeo will get a week for his tackle. If that is the case you would have to surely bring in Trew. He has been our most consistent WAFL performer this year's and plays the same inside mid position.

What tackle is Yeo in trouble for?

Barrass might get done for is but can’t remember Yeo doing anything untoward

Feel like Rotham is winning himself a new contract if he keeps this form up which probably puts someone on the delist pile.
Rotham is fine and I remain a believer. He's such a lovely user and if he can stick to a limited role of closing down his man, helping the talls and using it well out of defense he should get a contract.

Look at Carlton and Geelong. Some great players across every line but they've also got some pretty good average players who simply play their role.

Maybe culley ? Definitely more physically developed than hall .

Ginbey plays more inside ?

Trew is more ready in that role than hall but much lower ceiling .

Hewett coming back ?

2024 List cuts:
Gaff - Retire
Cripps - Retire
Jones - Delist
H.Edwards - Delist
L.Edwards - Delist
Trew - Delist

2025 List cuts:
Sheed - Retire
Darling - Retire
McGovern - Retire
Hunt - Retire
Jamieson - Delist

Possible retirements of:
Yeo
Kelly

The worst performer of:
Baker & Dewar

And the worst performer of:
Barnett, J.Williams & Livingstone

Honestly wouldn't be surprised for Rotham to play adequately for the remainder of 2024 and then get cut seemingly from nowhere.

We've got options each year to turn some spots over. Hopefully with Reidsanity taking over the league, we can attract high end FA's like McCluggage or JUH to come get a premiership.

Only two locks for 2024 should be Gaff and Jones at the moment.

We're also not going to be retiring McGovern, delisting Harry Edwards and Jamison in the space of two years.
