Compared to the bottom team 1 and 30……. Current scam they will have 7 first rd picks in 2 years…

That’s an impressive result in any sporting league in the world.
And that's after 7 first rounders in 2018-19 as well. Including picks 1, 2 and 11 (2019), and 2, 3, 6 and 23 (in 2018).

Ugle-Hagan offered 10/11 yr deal by Richmond/ Hawthorn up to 15 million contract but set to accept a two year deal at WB for two million .
Very talented player and will improve further but very generous contracts .

Mate 15M over 10 years, and he accepting 2 years only? He better be well above 1.5M pa for that, and closer to 2/2,2M if taking the lesser deal.

Thats alot of money to be walking away from and a HUGE win for the dogs if true.

That doesn't allow for an equal competition though, which is what the OP was asking for.
LOL. When it comes to equalisation, not all clubs are created equal. Money thrown at specific clubs in the name of equalisation. Not sure West Coasts needs or interest in equalisation are ever considered.

West Coast has to travel the most, but still manages to get dudded a lot when it comes to away trips all over the place. West Coast makes too much money, but can’t spend any of it at the risk of their dollars being unfair.

Draft manipulation constantly at the expense of particular clubs, including West Coast. Worst team ever (apparently) and still only managed its second pick at around pick 30.

lol, your happy to pontificate away, while not giving two sh!ts about the different circumstances of different clubs, and why things are the way they are.
LOL, back at you buddy. Difference is I hardly comment other than in jest, you like to come on here mansplaining all elements of AFL drafting and particularly academies.

I am comfortable in assuming the AFL does not give two shits about the WA teams is that it already has a captive audience, all the while doctoring the competition to pander to big Vics and its pet northern projects.

So, if my posting history on the Eagles Big Footy does not demonstrate any degree of balance or care about what the circumstances of other clubs is, I absolutely do not give a shit. Did not care to respond to any of your other shit.

I don't disagree with any of that. I wasn't arguing against anything to do with West Coast.

My club was at the bottom when both Gold Coast and GWS came in to the competition. didn't see you guys going in to bat for us being screwed over at the draft. The only reason we didn't finish last a couple of years in a row, is because Essendon were stripped of their players and got pick 1 after the expansion drafts.

I'm only replying to people having a crack at something. Someone having a crack at the academy matching system, so I post they are reviewing and changing the system, but that bit gets ignored.

Very few posters care about any other team, apart for their own. Happy to crap on other teams when they're on top. Cry about the inequities when they're at the bottom. That's the nature of sport the world over.

Sorry to be a bit of a numpty. Can someone please explain how kids like Maric and say Culley get through and are taken at the MSD and not the national draft? I understand mature ages are taken from the VFL and that make sense. But someone like Maric, excellent skills and obviously AFL level wasn't taken in the national draft? Same goes for Culley to some extent.

Did they not nominate from national draft at the time?

Late developers, Maric used to be a fat **** and lost a bunch of weight, all sorts of reasons

2010 Ladder 2010 Draft

We didn't exactly get the red carpet treatment from VFL House and GC in 2010, but thankfully some very good selections with what we were left with

Both were eligible because they nominated for the ND and weren't selected.

I'm trying to find info on a player I liked last year from Vic Country called Michael Rudd.

He looked like a classy left footer but never got selected and can't find where he's playing in 2024.

Anyone know? and would he be an option out of the blue?

Was communicating with his dad over the off-season.
He's playing for Carlton VFL.
I honestly prefer James Barrat from this year's contingent.
Kicked three goals this afternoon (from eight shots). Needs to work on his accuracy but otherwise he is elite at recovering once the ball hits the ground for a tall forward.

Looks to be playing local footy in Geelong: https://www.playhq.com/public/profile/b67d09ae-5a7b-40f9-b39f-cf9b5a8e738d/statistics?tenant=afl

Edit: also with Carlton’s VFL side as eaglespremiers said.
