The Blues have also picked up picks 63 and 68 from West Coast in the deal, which will help them to match bids on father-son duo Ben and Lucas Camporeale on draft night.

So we helped Carlton get their father sons in loose our own NGA in the process. This deal is so ******* bad for West Coast. For what really? Two 27/38 year olds who most definitely won’t be around when we are contending next?

Well, he'll be at Freo and not WCE, for starters.

Second, I have doubts he can average more possessions than Chesser at AFL level.

Unless they manufacture a deal to get Warner before 8pm tomorrow, nothing will make this right with Eagles fans.

It also ensures Baker arrives with no goodwill from a large group of fans and, rightly or wrongly, probably removes a fair bit of McQualter's goodwill because it could be viewed that he's sold the farm to bring a mate in.

The optics are terrible. Unless we bolt out the gate and these fellas are playing like rockstars.

It won't take much of a reversion to mean for the knives to come out though. We currently look like the Richmond reject superannuation fund.

Not seen much special from Allen at this point, just another dime a dozen player from what i have seen so far.

This, if true, is a massive part of our cultural problem though.

We think guys in the early teens of the draft are absolute bargains because we rate them highly, but we are yet to really have one work out (Hewett if he gets on the park, if not he ends up as big a bust as Brander).

Brander, Chesser, even Duggan - we have to chase game breakers not a really even squad of good quality footballers (Brander excluded). Will end up like the saints or bombers

When you consider Owies would've been delisted and Baker isn't worth 14, the answer is yes.

Owies wasn't going to be delisted he was just asking for too much money apparently he was asking 800k

I don't think a player who kicked 33 goals as a small forward would ever be delisted ?

High potential of not just stuffing up draft and talent capital, but clogging list and salary space as well.


This better work out - because if it doesn't the outcome will be a complete bottoming out during Tasmania draft compromisation with a squad that is unable to be turned over easily.


The risks here are so extreme, yet it appears the club has gone all-in on it.

I don't think so. Freo will have to give up a lot for Bolton. I think both pick 10,11 will be needed for Bolton and I reckon Eagles giving pick 14 for Baker part of the deal is for Richmond to be firm on Freo pick 10 and 11. Bolton is a gun and should demand that.

No other club will take Allen before pick 12.

Unless we get something from Hawthorn for Barrass, yes. If what we get are future picks, then we've traded out of a deep draft for Baker and traded into a seemingly shallower one. Hard to see any logic in this.
