What about we do

Darling + F3 for 40 + F4
Gotta be carefully trading out the F3 (even more so if F2 goes to Hawks in the TB trade). Might miss out on getting the bargains with matching Walley, Banfield ect next year. Sounds like only the top 3 rounds will be worth points.

Sounds like a lot of teams will be scrambling next year for points too

Interesting trade hypothetical. I doubt Houston chooses North but they have been desperate to land a ‘big fish’ for years so would throwsignificant cash and picks if it was possible. In the article:

Freo don’t land Bolton (unlikely) so retain picks 9 + 10.

Freo trade 9 or 10 to NM for F1 (likely top 6 pick)
NM trade 9/10 to PA for Houston

Freo then hold F1 (NM) F1 (Freo) to go after Warner end of 2025

Removing Freo from that scenario and inserting WC could look like…

WC trade Barass + F2 to Hawks for 13 + F1
WC trade Darling + pick 13 to NM for F1
NM trade pick 13 to PA for Houston

WC could still look to split pick 3 for 2x R1 this year eg with Richmond for 6 + ?

2025
WC hold F1 (WC) F1 (NM) F1 (Hawks)
Use 2 of the above or 1 + F1 (2026) for Sir Chadwick

Would have to be pretty certain of landing Chad next year to trade a R1 out of this draft, but much rather us than Freo. Really hoping we get at least one end of R1 priority pick this year to bolster our draft hand and trade flexibility.

My fear with all this chasing 'the chad' is we make the same mistake we made with trading for TK.

In a deep draft, I would hate to not have a crack at 5 picks this year inside the top 40.

I agree on being worried we chase a ready made and do not rebuild properly.

Chad is great but in an ideal world, we chase him next year.

I have an interesting proposition. How about we nail our picks in the first place and then we do not have to give away multiple R1 picks for WA talent that we overlooked. And lease Massey, I hope you have thrown away the Pieman's love of athletes who cannot win contested football

In the scenario i posted Lalor was off the board.

He (Lalor) has been more impressive up fwd than through the midfield this year. I think mostly due to not being in peak condition. He definitely uses the ball well but i guess if there was any criticism of his game its that he hasn’t posted big numbers consistently, so probably a question of his consistency and also he does seem a little injury prone which sometimes can be purely luck but also can be a concern.
Lalor has never done a pre-season because he has always played high level cricket
He will improve so much once he gets conditioning into him
Iam starting to want him as our first pick now

Agree re Lalor, however he is a risk, which is why we need atleast 3 top 30 picks. Can be like last year when it's Harley then nothing till speculative phase.

How about we do a poll to see where we are all sitting for pick 3. I'm going Draper. I know Twomey has him at pick 8 but I can't see Adelaide passing on him and to me he compliments Harley's game style. You can guarantee that if we split Pick 3 we miss out FOS, Draper, Lalor and Smith and end up with Smilie as I don't think we want Murphy Reid.

That's Twomey's power rankings not a phantom draft.

He has Draper as his 8th best player in the pool - not saying he goes at pick 8.

**** no, he's good on the lead, takes pack marks and is good on the deck. I'd just back him to improve his set shot
Whatever gets him in the team quickest, really. He would be able to swing forward once established in the side, but it’ll be easiest to get him in as a KPD in the first instance unless he overtakes J Williams as Fwd/Ruck.

There’s bound to be a time when Gov or Edwards misses a game or two, and it’d be nice if he were able to slot in.

Me too . 👍

On FOS form this year (lack of accumulation averaging <20 possessions form) there is no justifiable reason to select FOS over Lalor.

As a pure FWD: Lalor >>> FOS (Form this year)
As a pure MID: Lalor > FOS (Form this year)
On ceiling Lalor > FOS

For a so called great HFF/Fwd FOS is Lalor shits all over him.

I'm with you. Lalor @ 3 all the way

Lalor's being under-rated in the popular online draft discourse. I reckon plenty of recruiters probably have him pushing number 1 on their boards, and I genuinely wouldn't be surprised if come draft night he's firmly in that conversation for Richmond's pick.*

Needless to say I'd take him at 3 in a heartbeat; though his natural midfield craft is just too good so we're probably not interested. Don't want Langford.

*the caveat being I'm not factoring in the unknown (to me at least) significance of the hamstring injury.

Sid Draper or Sam Lalor be happy with both or FOS
The rest not so much as those 3
Sid Draper reminds me of a cross between Luke Shuey and Dayne Zorko
Sam Lalor just love his beastly inside game his monster tackles and his physicality,
he also has good forward nous

I am a campaigner that should uppercut myself in the throat, but I would have no problem with us trading pick 3 for 9 and 10. I find it hard to believe that whoever we take at 3 would give us more wins over the next decade than Tobie Travaglia and Xavier Lindsay.

Many ways to rebuild ‘properly’.

Worst idea I have ever read on here, you must be an insider.

Yeah I agree, he's what recruiters love. He's a talented footballer with the size, speed and power to be a difference maker. Obviously I disagree with you on Langford though

Second to the coach, I hope we invest heavily on development coaches and kick out the nuffie no names in the assistant coaching departments. So many athletically gifted players that tend to be underwhelming in their development and end up just plugging spots, petch and Rotham a good example, brander back in the day
