Yeah I agree, he's what recruiters love. He's a talented footballer with the size, speed and power to be a difference maker

The misconception is that it's about the big powerful beast stuff, and that he's a dynamic forward with some midfield potential, like the Bailey Humphrey of this year's draft.

It's his genuine midfield ability that's the thing; he has terrific awareness and anticipation around stoppages and is very, very good by hand, both off the ground and disposal-wise. We badly need players who get to ground balls first and when they do who have the ability to reliably release nearby teammates into space, which is what he does.

The question mark may admittedly be conditioning, but it's certainly not his prospects of transitioning into the middle.

Good to see the Lalor wagon gathering steam, though; make it happen BOND 007

I am a campaigner that should uppercut myself in the throat, but I would have no problem with us trading pick 3 for 9 and 10. I find it hard to believe that whoever we take at 3 would give us more wins over the next decade than Tobie Travaglia and Xavier Lindsay.
TT and Lindsay are fine prospects that would tempt me as well. You’ll probably cop crap on this post as many of our posters only have a superficial understanding of the non-headline acts

Could probably guarantee 1 of TT and Lindsay with 13 then something different with 3?

All potential picks at 3 have question marks. Splitting down mitigates risk. I have studies saved on my computer at home that show that teams are overly risk averse when it comes to trading down from a top 5 pick.

TT is a hard nut who intercepts well above his height. X is one of the best kicks in the draft and I am highly confident that he is a genuine mid at AFL level.

Do you found it hard to believe/difficult pill to swallow that so far:

Wardlaw/Sheezle >>> Elijah Hewett+ Ginbey on output. Because that actually has occurred.

We are in no position for slow burn types.

The reverse is true the lower the draft pick the bigger the risk you get a dud or injury risk player.

Travaglia and Lindsay will be the two best value picks in the first round of the draft and to the surprise of absolutely no one are my two favourite players. If we can find a way to get both I’m all for exploring it. 3 for 6 and 9 may well get us Lalor, Travaglia and then Lindsay at 13.

3 for 9 and 10 probably means we miss Travaglia and end up with Lindsay, Berry and Allan.

Then if it isn't a salary dump why don't we pay a portion of his salary to improve the draft pick? It's by all accounts a deep draft and we don't have a 3rd rounder, surely it makes more sense to go that route instead?
Probably because north have space to pay themselves and don’t want to give a good pick.

9 means we get TT but 9 means we don't?

Travaglia, Lindsay and Berry all seem like very good players in positions of need. I'd love any of them. But I'd also love a genuine difference-making midfielder, and there appear to be several in the draft - Smith, Lalor, Draper, Langford, FOS (I'm not sold on Smillie). Even later, there might be some very handy bargains - Moraes and Gross are very tempting around pick 23. All in all, I think it should be hard to stuff this draft up. I really hope we don't overpay for Baker. This isn't the year for it.

Even if we didn’t take a top 6 pick but walked away from this draft with TT, Lindsay, Berry and a promising KPD I’d be beyond happy with that haul.

Yep very excited to see who we can snag with pick 23

Seems a bit too kind to us just 3 for 6 and 9.

Maybe 3 and 23 for 6 and 9 is fairer?

6 Lalor
9 Travaglia
13 Lindsay
59 ??
64 ??

Would be awesome!!

We’re not here to be kind. If Richmond are that desperate to pair Jagga and FOS then we leverage it. If push came to shove add our F2 rather than 23 but as I’ve posted if I was putting money on it I think Tigers will deal with Norf for pick 2.

But if we did the above deal and got the best KPD at 23 which will end up 29-30 then that’s a very good result. 59 and 64 are most likely going to pay for Champion but I’m still hoping we can gets players or picks for Petch and Bailey to beef up our 3R hand more. Garcia is in Perth this week so I hope we’ve sent our most charming staff member around to the Garcias.

I just think this year's draft is too even, last year 3 for 6 and 9 but not this year imo.

Very intrigued what we'll do with 23 and onwards. Their will definitely be a kpd in there. I wouldn't be surprised if malakai slips through to the rookie draft but agree those latter picks leverage us well to bid shall he fall late thirties

My fear with all this chasing 'the chad' is we make the same mistake we made with trading for TK.

In a deep draft, I would hate to not have a crack at 5 picks this year inside the top 40.

This... lets at least see whether we can pick some ripping talent in this year's draft as we have more holes to fill than a pager user.

If yes, maybe we consider multiple picks for a star next year.

Worst idea I have ever read on here, you must be an insider.
