Witherden is no world beater, but the pillioring you've dished out says more about you than it does about him. Furthermore, to suggest that the Witherden trade somehow reflects the fortunes of both clubs is just stupid. There are many and obvious reasons why Brisbane is where they are compared to us, and Witherden is so far down the list it hardly warrants discussion. .
It says exactly the right thing about both clubs.

West coast take a spud even at a discount and play him for years at the detriment of our side .

Brisbane seeing witho is too slow to defend and his best attribute his kicking is inconsistent to say the least moved him on .

West coasts list management and trading has been the worst in the afl bar Gold Coast for years .

Brisbane has been top 3 for years .

The witherden trade perfectly highlighted this .

Only think Dev has a bit of extra size.

Garcia is a clean hands beast and the type of player we need.

🙌

Players who are ground ball dominant, especially loose balls, and with quality hands, is absolute priority number 1 for all things player acquisition this off season.

If Macrae stays put at the Dogs because they can’t get a deal done with the Saints I think Garcia will come to WCE. Hopefully the trade would be straight swap for Petruccelle.

Yeah nah

Might be too optimistic for this thread but gee if we get Chad and starcevtich next year, draft well this year and natural progression from our young players then we’re probably only a McGovern replacement away from contending for a premiership in 2026

Whilst optimistic this is why I'm so determined that we hit this draft hard and then worry about the established players next year.

Do it well and finals is possible in 2026.

Told we are looking at Brisbane Prior for the Witherden role

If Kelly has a repeat of 2024 next year, whats he worth as a FA?

Will be 31, probably fetches a 800k salary on 3 years? Itd have to be 3 years to get him to move, unless it was across town to Freo, who he would be a decent fit for imo.

I presume we would offer him something regardless, so to move it'd have to be worth his while.

Don’t think he is a free agent. Hasn’t been at the club long enough

He’ll be . Not going to be getting any long term big offers you’d imagine to make it worthwhile moving interstate especially, unless we don’t want to keep him

Ask him to decide now if he will stay on reduced coin or get him to pick a place and we can ship him off…

Reid’s been burned enough by this guy

Won’t be a free agent needs 8 years of service. Another team would have to trade for him. Knobel and Freo’s 1R next year will be fine.

Ah true. Forcing it to be a trade is much better for us.

Take that 1st off Freo and send it to Sydney with the Hawks F1 for Warner, easy money

The only way he leaves is if the Dockers offer him more years than us. He isn't uprooting his family and his two special needs kids. I suspect this is a play from his management to spook the Eagles into getting a quick deal done.

I'm fine with this going either way tbh.

A Hough / Stracevich back pocket lockdown duo would be special viewing.

Surround them with ball users from half back and that’d be very fun defensively and offensively.
Hough is tracking very much like early career yeo .

Yeo was a taller lock down defender on smalls at his time in Brisbane. Then became a running HBF then midfield.

Give hough more attacking role next season then deploy him in the midfield 2026 with stracivich taking the lock down role
