If this trade goes through the amout of resentment for Baker and owies will be huge .

I hate them already
Couldn't agree more, they're going to come under huge amounts of fan scrutiny due to this trade.

Purely as expectations are now really really high, Baker even more so.

I don't hate them, I hate our list management.

If this was our approach a competent list manager probably would of been able to get Shai Bolton and Baker for 3.... instead we got Matt ****ing Owies.

Just remind them we have won 2 and lost 2 premierships since they have won 1
That all doesn’t matter, time to stop living in the past, we are nowhere near the same powerful club we used to be so it’s all irrelevant, let’s focus on the present and future where we are completely ****ed on and off the field..

Because we’re not fielding a team for one year and then never again.

Well we would if I had my way, but you know what I mean.

No, we're not drafting another small fwd until after Owies retires in 7 years.

To the people trying to justify this trade please stop

You cannot spin it positively in any sense of the imagination

Both players were OUT OF CONTRACT

We could of literally got both players for FREE

This trade will set the club back years
We could have got Owies for free but not Baker. Still, it should have been no more than an F2. Clearly Richmond were aware of whatever deal existed between Baker and West Coast to be making unreasonable demands from the outset.

Eh, I'll wait and see what happens with Barrass.

I think it has been pretty clear over the past few seasons that we need to raise our floor, Baker Graham and Owies does that, no question. You can argue against any of those three individually sure but not as a collective.

Then... moving from 3 to 12, it seems this is the draft to do this such is the even nature.

Fingers crossed we can manufacture another pick or two in the first two rounds.
Great take.
I’m hoping we get 2xF1 for TB and trade one back in (Sydney?) for another throw at the stumps this year.

At worst, we’re replacing our bottom 3 players with quality senior players. Even if they aren’t in our next premiership team, they’re going to play a role to develop the kids coming through.

We fkd this entire trade period, but it will be okay… I hope.

Could we be looking to trade with GWS? Two of pick 15/16/21 for one of the F1st's that we get from the Hawks? Or, similar deal with Sydney for 19 and 22?

I really want Hawthorn to walk away from the TB trade with a "lol psych" leaving us with nothing draft wise.

Then see how the corporates explain the next decade of mediocrity to the fans that they've just consigned us to.

We need to keep 12, if we can snaggle another pick or two in the 20s somehow and bring in Dev we can salvage something, it's not perfect but it's something.

Okay looking forward to how our side may look in 2025, we obviously have a heap of small/mid forwards.

Assuming we play Oscar, Waterman and JWilliams as a backup ruck/3rd forrward.

That leaves, Ryan, Brockman, Long, Cripps, Owies, Dewar, Hutchison, Hewett, Baker, Rawlinson all competing for those last spots in the forward line + other roles.

Who do we think can move into other roled from that crop?

Personally, I think Hutch showed he could be an option as an inside, ball winning mid. Baker and Hewett will also spend time, mid/forward.

Dewar is the other one, that I think should be trained as a wing/half back. His skill level is elite and could potentially fill the role, that Lewis Jetta left in 2020.

Iv been so annoyed at work because of this deal, two of my workers are Carlton supporters and they’re both laughing at me and sympathising with me at the same time, even they cannot believe they bent us over like that. One of them said it’s as bad as the Kelly trade and I said na this is so much worse in every aspect.

Kelly was a star and we were chasing another premiership and then Covid hit, that was all just bad timing but can’t blame us for trying. This one is mindless because we’re rebuilding and desperately need midfielders but we go out and blow our draft capital on an average midget and another below average delist material midget.

I’m getting angry just writing this 😭
Exactly. There was justifications around the Kelly trade because he finished top 5 in the brownlow, and we had just won a flag a year before. In hindsight it was a bad deal. This one we can only hope it's the opposite, but from the get go, this is a bad deal.

Everybody, is questioning the trade. For good reason.

Just grin and bear it guys , it can’t be undone now ..
We will get a good player in Baker and Owies who will be able to to play Mcqualter’s faster game plan ..
Hopefully Allen or Tatau will be there at Pick 12 ..

Small mercies are:

  1. With Owies coming in, Owies, Long, Dewar and Ryan = see yah Brocky, we can put this experiment to bed and BTW, don't hit the lamp post on your way out to the Beagles; and
  2. Freo supporters can no longer claim WC supporters have not faced adversity.

Ryan HBF? Provides good run, and he's a decent kick. Not accountable enough though?

Honestly it's like a fever dream.

We have done the worst possible things
1. Trade TB for future picks
2. Split 3 for small people

Seriously did we say **** the youth in the trade period?

Are we planning to draft anymore elite mids and is the big at the club looking at it when tassie comes along

Really only had pick 3 and 26 to make something happen , you cannot expect much ....

Pick 26 for baker.

Owies for free.

Wait and trade 3 for 6 and Richmond’s 24

Instead we overpaid, be seen as amateurs which will affect future negotiations as we are weak.

Next minute, pick 12 for Deven Robertson.
