If we did win the spoon and Harley pulls a full Sheezel schnitzel on us, would we consider Hawthorn’s first for this year and next? 2 and 20 this year certainly doesn’t cut it, but considering they’re like to be terrible again next year, their future first could be tempting…

I could be wrong but I don't think Hawthorn have their second round draft pick. That is going to the us (the Swans).

Half a mill for a 30 year old mediocre defender during the peak decline of our current list - is this satire?

This club has completely lost the plot

Are you perpetually stupid?

From that article

His manager Colin Young famously pushes a hard bargain for his clients and would be able to secure a three-year deal on more than $500,000 for Broad if he left.

Despite speculation West Coast would be interested in Broad he hasn’t engaged in talks with rival teams.

Colin Young is his manager who’s Plan A in any upcoming contract negotiation is to create the impression there’s a high demand for his player from rival clubs at an inflated contract value

“Speculation West Coast would be interested” - by who and why?

As a club we’ve been notoriously tight lipped on potential trade targets so the likelihood we’ve allowed interest in Broad, if any existed, to be known is low

Young is simply laying the groundwork for a good contract for his client who isn’t interested in leaving

Also from the article

Richmond plans to start contract talks in round 11 with Broad, who at this stage is keen to stay at the club as he and wife Tayla Damir await the birth of their first child.

But as one of the best unrestricted free agents on the market he now has significant leverage even in a year where he has turned 30.

If Broad is at West Coast next year I’ll retire as mod

Have you got any factual, objective evidence indicating he wouldn’t have come here yet? Didn’t think so 🤡

Sent from my iPhone using BigFooty.com

I’ve had four goes at explaining this to you now. It’s not a homesickness question. 🤡

Would he have been available to us?

Noting that the quote above is from thge article quoted by Keys, not the opinion of Keys.

If he's one of the best UFA's on the market this year then it's it's a pretty low quality pool.
To the point where if he's the best, when it comes to 2023 UFA's it's a case of 'walk away, nothing to see here'.

Unlikely we finish last so unlikely HR is a draft option for us. Lots of knicker twisting for an unlikely outcome. But I guess that's BF.
I don't think anyone can say it's unlikely at the minute.

It's a three way race and unlike the other sides we have an injury list the size of my arm with a squad which wasn't that good to begin with.

Without a single notable injury we were still a bottom 5 side - Arguably Norf, GWS and Hawthorn worse, plus GC having a perennial glass jaw.

You take out 1500 games of experience week in week out and it isn't gonna be good.

At this point we have, at worst, a 33% chance of the spoon. Those numbers will fluctuate pretty heavily if we lose to Hawforn on the weekend.

33% = possible

50% = probable

On the other hand, we were the worst we've ever been last year and North still finished below us. With games against us and Hawthorn to come for North they have the experience to out-last us.

And while it's laughable to say we have a home ground advantage currently, we have a home ground advantage which could combine with a few players back to snag a win or two late in the season (aside from the North game).

I'm good with us coming last if we can't get off the canvas due to injuries, but I just don't think it's the most likely outcome.

Kids need to be reminded of how the draft works or to not bother nominating. Every number 1 pick goes to a 'basket case' of a club.
If there was incentive like you sign an afl contract to go in the draft and here’s 500k for being pick one and minimum 4 years contract to move interstate suddenly there is a reason. Issue is these kids don’t have to move because there is no incentive to.

Don’t want to move fine we will keep the 500k and give it to another kid that wants to go number one. See what Harley’s response would be if he had 500k dangled in front of him.

Not sure if serious?
If you are then it's definitely NFW from me, not even ballpark.

I don't think we'd consider it - but if Hawthorn really want Reid that much, what else do they have to give? This is when lower Victoria teams with more draft picks (ie other teams' future picks) would come into play but I don't know exactly who might be trading up for our pick 1.

Edit:
Hawks as it stand have 1, 32 and 51
Roos have 3, 15 and 40
Demons have 7, 17 and 26

The others have a lot of trash we ain't considering.

I'd entertain it if Roos and Demons give us their three top picks - but they certainly won't.

I hope if we have 1 we use it on Reid, if they do look at trading it sounds as if only really GWS are close with what they have.
