I don't think we'd consider it - but if Hawthorn really want Reid that much, what else do they have to give? This is when lower Victoria teams with more draft picks (ie other teams' future picks) would come into play but I don't know exactly who might be trading up for our pick 1.

Edit:
Hawks as it stand have 1, 32 and 51
Roos have 3, 15 and 40
Demons have 7, 17 and 26

The others have a lot of trash we ain't considering.

I'd entertain it if Roos and Demons give us their three top picks - but they certainly won't.
Hawthorn have the Dogs 2nd aswell.

If Hawthorn want Reid you tell them to give you pick 2, their future 1st and something else.

If that’s not on the table, you don’t even entertain trading him there. They’ve-tanked for him and traded all their veterans largely for him, they will pay up.

Time to fix the draft tampering taking place by managers and clubs.

1. Extend the rookie contract to 2years +1 extra year club option.

2. Allow clubs to trade player to their club of choice, not the players if they are contracted.

3. Make it illegal for any mid season contact between managers and clubs on contracted players.

4. Implement a fine system if clubs deliberately breach rule 3.

The AFLPA will jump up and down and say the restricton of movement and players being forced to play where they don’t want is unacceptable but at what cost do we allow the mental patients (players) to keep running the asylum (AFL)?

The players want record money and they want free agency but are not prepared to concede clubs should have a right to be able to protect themselves from being bent over a barrel by other clubs.

The NBA has implemented some of these measures in recent years which has allowed small team towns to keep players like Ja Morant, Zion Williamson, Lonzo Ball, Tre Young, Giannis etc etc

It’s about time the AFL stops burying its head on the sand and pretending nothing is wrong

Good and fun talent but if we take a 170CM small forward with pick 1 or 2, I might give up on sports
I understand why everyone is apprehensive about taking “The Wizard” but I’m hoping he smashes it at AFL level for who ever he plays for. He’s such a talent.

Not true. bolded

But i would assume if we are to get Reid it'd include our first & future first.

Future first could probably be a top 5 pick, but we could also bank on improving with Reid & McCabe in 2023.

It'd probably be that and maybe a future 2nd or 2nd included somewhere.

Guess it won't cost you the $3k to permanently ban Ochre, mod privileges and all...
If I had a dollar for every time Keys threatened to ban me I could probably pay the 3k myself.

I reckon we have to do everything to get Harley Reid here. Lay out a plan for him to become the face of the club like Nic Nat as been. Every motherf***ing whopper bill board in the state put his mug on. Set up a HJ’s in his home town. Buy each of his family a franchise. Private jet. Perth Now exclusives. Fish Watch hosting rights.

Anything he wants he must get.

Convinced DGB is a spud personally but yeah, could do worse I guess.

I’d still take Reid though unless another prospect can separate from the pack.

Need Moir to get going
Unless he really has been struggling with injury don’t see Moir anywhere near it atm he’s sliding quickly.

I’ll have a fifth go.

If we don’t do the pick split last year, which you’re insisting was a mistake, who ends up getting drafted pick 1 and who do we take with pick 2?

A lot of jumping at shadows going on here. Not being excited about going to WA for work doesn't mean he would chuck a hissy fit about it, or not get used to it in time. Why would he be excited about the prospect of WA?

If he's the best player and we have pick 1, just pick him and forget about all the 4D chess moves trying to figure out what he's going to do in 2 years time. We'll burn that bridge when we come to it.

Absolutely right

Ashcroft
Sheezy
We take Cadman

Wormkilla keeps insisting we shouldn’t have done the trade and should’ve drafted Sheezel regardless of whether he was or wasn’t a flight risk.

He wouldn’t have been available, but that’s a point that the poster is unwilling or unable to comprehend.

I’ll keep trying.

Why give a ****, just move one and process future hypotheticals

Reid's answer stunk of being coached. Whether it's his manager or his daddy and mummy, someone has been in his ear to start dropping hints about his reluctance.

I say we draft him anyway then trade him to Tasmania if he keeps complaining, they'll have the draft picks to trade for him or take him in the PSD.
