AFL Trade Radio’s list of 45 players up for trade

Paddy Dow, Jack Billings, Deven Robertson, Zac Fisher, James Harmes, Jordon Sweet, Daniel McKenzie, Liam Ryan, Brandan Parfitt, Liam Henry, Tom Doedee, Jarryd Lyons, Nick Haynes, Sam Hayes, Mabior Chol, Hunter Clark, Zak Jones, Finlay Macrae, Brodie Grundy, Shane McAdam, Brandon Zerk-Thatcher, Elijah Hollands, Jackson Mead, Denver Grainger-Barras, Esava Ratugolea, Lochie O’Brien, Tarryn Thomas, Ben McKay, Khai Lohman, Todd Goldstein, James Jordon, Scott Lycett, Matt Flynn, Ivan Soldo, Dylan Stephens, Braydon Preuss, Jade Gresham, Caleb Marchbank, Nick Coffield, Hugo Ralphsmith, Tyler Brockman, Adam Tomlinson, Orazio Fantasia, Tom Curley, Trent Bianco.

Guessing this is just rehashing old rumours or saying the Eagles should trade him and cash in on his value

Jeez Trade Radio would be hoping for a couple of big surprises because half hourly updates on Day 27 about potential landing places for James Jordan, Paddy Dow and someone called ‘Daniel McKenzie’ is not exactly grabbing the headlines is it.

I don't think it was ripped up, just more years added at less money.

AFAIK restricted free agent contracts can't be altered on an earnings per year level.

Definitely gamed the system but that initial short contract at high dollars would have been honoured. They would have had to pay that dollar amount in each of those years. It can't be 'smoothed' or averaged out after the fact.

Ah... reminds me of the time when we draft pick(s) for another team (Syd?) whilst they paid for a matched bid then traded them back for a small fee.

Does anyone remember which draft that was?
Think they changed the rules after that loophole use.

Now that Brockman has nominated WC as his preferred trade destination. Is he any good? Tiny sample fo games to go on but we are now the destination club.

That’s part of the problem for any of us to get excited about, because the sample size of game footage is so slim.
One thing he has shown is that Yes he has some special trick, however they are few and far between.
The Hawks faithful keep telling us he is a future champ and would be in our best starting 22, however he hasn’t always been picked when available for the Hawks, so we can take their grandiose claim with a a grain of salt.

What also worries me are these two things:

1. If he is that promising a young player then why did the Hawks only offer him a one year deal. That’s not the sort of tenure that a alleged future young best 22 is normally offered.

2. He does seem injury prone.

Is he any good ?????

TBH I really don’t know and I am ambivalent to his acquisition to our list.
Provided we don’t pay overs I am happy to punt on him.

There's a lot to like about him, despite Ranges dominance in the midfield he was often doubled teamed (or even triple teamed) in the forward line but has a good spring and he always tries to take the ball at the highest point. Currently listed at 195cm this makes him a difficult match up. Also has a consistently good kicking action so at least in recent times he looks like a more reliable set shot than Walter/Caddy (and the wind was swirly at times at the QEO on Sunday). This means that he can often make the most of limited opportunities (like two weeks ago in the wildcard round when he kicked 4 goals from 6 disposals).

Despite this it will be interesting to see how he goes with a less-than-dominant midfield kicking to him. This is a particular consideration as he presents as more of a stay-at-full forward type of tall, I haven't seen him typically go on long runs up the wing, he plays kind of like what we saw with Allen or Larkey at times this year, however, this might be more how he has been utilised by the Ranges rather than reflective of his overall limitations. Given his additional height I could understand if he was a more appealing prospect than the shorter Logan Morris despite their similar roles and Morris' better form this year.

Some shots from Sunday indicating a number of marking contests he competed in. The first photo was a mark and goal. I honestly think Geordie Payne (#4 for Tasmania) was given a clear directive to intercept and spoil against him.

He has the perfect legs and hips for AFL. You can see it, wide pelvis, big tree trunk legs . A lot to be said about draftees that can mix it physically straight away.

Take a punt is right, we have just delisted many that we took a punt on. One replacement is ok, given that draft picks in themself are speculative (taking a punt)

Can’t see Hawks being happy with either of our picks in the 50’s considering that the draft is going to be quite shallow. And I’m guessing we are going to want to keep our picks in the 30’s, It might be a F3rd for Brockman.
Brockman was a pick in the 40s originally.

He hasn't increased his value with his 15 games average 11 touches 2 tackles and 0.9 goals a game

Sure he has potential but he hasn't produced anything consistent. He was subbed out twice this year for failing to impact a game .

SPS had way better form and was a top 10 draft pick we paid pick 55 .

Also if norf tried to PSD stevens we should 100% take him

2018

Eagles would have taken Brockman in his draft year so we were keen . Now after two years at Hawthorn, there still isn't a lot to know , but a burst player and not a big possession winner .
Eagles have committed , so on our list nearly 100% .

2018

Ahh memories of the big pick swaps on the second night of the draft. Here's how it panned out.

West Coast - pick 28 - XON - delisted
West Coast - Sydney's 2nd round - used for Tim Kelly
Sydney - pick 25 - Rowbottom - 93 games

And then in 2019...
Carlton - pick 19 - Liam Stocker - now at St Kilda
Adelaide - Carlton's 1st (pick 6) - Fisher McAsey - delisted
Carlton - Adelaide's 1st (pick 8, turned to two later picks) - Brodie Kemp (23 games), Sam Philp (2 games, verge of being delisted)

Sydney proved the eventual big winners as they used that 2018 trade to secure Blakey.

Don’t think he’s really lost value either. At his age you’re looking for glimpses of potential, which he has shown. Plus we seem to like demonstrating to players that if you choose us, we get it done. Goodwill is worth something I guess. Maybe 38 for Brockman and 48 gets it done.
Depends on what we have to cough up if Dev chooses us too.

This is absolute gold. I hope you’ve posted it on the North board. Grab a deck chair and the popcorn.
My thoughts exactly.
