Draft questionnaire for Monocle and AsterixTheGaul and whoever else wants to have a crack (ArdentEagle or Wedgetailed Westerner);

1. If you could select from any player in this draft for West Coast who would it be and why?
McDonald, because Allen and McDonald = jizz.

2. If you're Rohan O'Brien (insert Dark Sharks gag here) with our current draft hand for this year and next year, what would you do come draft night?
Keep as is. It'll be a relatively boring night for Eagles fans, but this time next year we'll all be jizzing together.

3. If you're the crows who are you taking at pick 1 and are you bidding on Jamarra?
McDonald and yes.

4. Who would you take with the Bombers three top ten picks?
I hate the Bombers, so 3 spuds.

5. Being reasonable, if we didn't pick trade on the night and kept our current picks who would you ideally want to slide to us?
Durdin.

6. Give the top 5 players drafted this year, who do you think it will be where do they end up?

I have some small intel that suggests we're interested in cedric cox (possibly at a rookie level). Apparently he's been invited to train with the club.

This time last year I had Hollands as #1.
Given our needs I would take Hollands if I had the pick of any player.

Why double benefit best mid and the most pressing position of need for us, plus he is plug in ready to play day 1.

I would be monitoring the sliders and if one that I rated highly slid I would be considering my options.
The players that I would be closely monitoring would be: Macrae, Ford, O'Driscoll, Carroll, Trew, Poulter.

3. If you're the crows who are you taking at pick 1 and are you bidding on Jamarra?

With out question I would bid on JUH.

Taking Hollands, if it was me. So they probably go Thilthorpe.

4. Who would you take with the Bombers three top ten picks?

Essendon are in a brilliant and unique position as they have two KPP available to them through the NGA in Cody Brand 196 87 KPF and Josh Eyre 198 88 ( left footer ) Utility KPD.
This assists the way they shape their draft.
They need help everywhere but most urgent is midfield speed and a big bodied mid.
After which they get KPP players to replace the ageing Hurley and Hooker

Pick . 8 Bid on Campbell if matched then take Perkins.
Pick . 9 Take a tall here and that would be either Cox or Reid ( assuming that all of JHU, McDonald, Thilthorpe, DGB are off the board )
Pick 10 Bid on McInnes if matched then take Phillips if available if not then O'Driscoll.

Suspect it looks like this for Essendon.

8. Perkins
9. Cox
10. O'Driscoll ( he isn't the best mid at this point be he is the best big bodied mid and would suit Essendon to a tee.

Then top up with Brand and Eyre.

5. Being reasonable, if we didn't pick trade on the night and kept our current picks who would you ideally want to slide to us?

And I guess you want Saturday Nights lotto numbers too.

Who slides ........... guessing.... playing types as listed and in order.

Mids :
O.Davis, Ginnivan, Trew, Pedlar. In that order

Talls:
Lane, Neale.

General:
Stone, Winder.

6. Give the top 5 players drafted this year, who do you think it will be where do they end up?

1. JUH - Doggies
2. Hollands - Adelaide.
3. Mcdonald - North
4. DGB - Sydney.
5. Thilthorpe - Hawks.

A question that you haven't asked: Which players do I see as having the most upside in this cohort:

Perkins
Cox ( this kid is so exciting he could be the very best in this years draft )
Macrae
McInnes
Ford

Apologies the above reads and looks like a Longshanks reply.

I like it Monocle, I'd be pretty much the same on most of that!

Yes, good question RE still plenty of upside.

I agree with Perkins, Ford and Macrae!

Cox looks like he's kept growing, now 200cm so yeah with his kicking and athletic ability he's changed my opinion. He looked 3rd defender type last year, but he's grown in the perfect size.
McInnes I don't rate as highly as others, I still really rate him but I just think I have him in power rankings at about 18-21 odd.

I think Braeden Campbell could end up being the best player in this draft, or very close to. The kid is an underrated weapon and I think at AFL level he'll just keep getting better. If I could pick anyone in the draft, it would be either him or Hollands then Phillips (always go goal kicking mids first!).

Oliver Henry, could be anything!

Brayden Cook is another, he shown some very very promising glimpses and once in the AFL system absolutely take off.

But Jamarra has such raw ability, once he develops his body with his pace and agility will become possibly best player in the AFL one day or if not certainly best key forward. Dogs are very lucky to get him this year.

Henry is all class and I was rapt that GWS got the three firsts of the BODE as I had, pre trades, Henry going to Geelong.

Agree Cook has come from nowhere to be a very classy prospect...... has Fremantle written all over him.

Campbell I agree the kid is already special and has a very promising career ahead of him.
Sydney have been blessed: Heeney, Mills and now Campbell.... FM ........ how goods that.

Also how fortunate are GC with picking up Davies and Jeffery for a free hit .... straight onto their main list.

RE: Cox - I haven't EVER seen a young player at his height and speed with such sublime foot skills, either side and also uses either hand as well.
Plus he already has a massive tank on him ...... going to be a scary prospect in a few years.
Reckon he starts on a wing.
He could play any position and once he fills out ( 3- 4 years ) he is going to be an absolute star.
I cant underplay how exciting a prospect I find this kid.

Does anyone else feel we should stay out of this draft completely and not try to trade up on draft night using future picks? WA & SA kids have been watched more closely this year then any other year. Those obscure later selections we occasionally nail would have been noticed a lot more so unless we see something that the other 17 clubs don't see its a good year to stay the hell out of it and only take 1 later selection.

Yep, it's on Instagram, him working out with Duggo and X.Oneil on an oval somewhere. A good pick, I reckon - some more indigenous speed.

I reckon Freo would have been a fair chance for Cox if the Bulldogs hadn't stitched them up with the bid on Henry last year!

Shame :p

That said Cox is over 192 cm so that in itself, would count Fremantle out on using a first rounder on him.

I’m at work but I’ll give this a crack later tonight.
Looks like a bit of fun.
