Since when has he been cooked? I saw no indication that he is cooked prior to this injury

Really?? He couldn’t jump, couldn’t run and was over weight so he wasn’t that effectual. Its only downhill from here

If Freo take Jackson, let’s steal Meek on the cheap. Good ruckman.

Absolutely what I would be doing. Get freo and Jackson committed and come in with a good offer on Meek. Only issue is Freo has Meek contracted till end of 2023. Freo won't let him go cheap. However if we get to end of next year and slide a 3-4 year deal in front of him then it either A. Gets us a player we want and we won't be playing nice with freo or B) has freo with about 2.5 million worth of cap space tied to darcy, jackson and meek.

This year to get Meek it would highly likely cost Ports second. Next year our third rounder would do it.

Lobb will be part of the trade + Freo first pick and future first and second Rd pick thrown in somewhere .
* probably unders but don't know Freos draft picks and they have NGA players everywhere available.

Yesterday ABC Sportstalk said Lobb’s partner now back in WA.

Good chance he won’t be chasing trade this year.

If anyone is paying that money then it is on the assumption he becomes the top KPF in thr league.

I agree with you though, all we know at this stage is he's a ruck forward.
I'd want him to be able to solve world peace as well as playing CHF. Before his contract is up. Otherwise it's overs.

Regarding Nic, I firmly believe that he could play for up to another 3 years, if the club gets honest with him and he gets honest with himself: he is out of shape, is presently too heavy, and his aerobic fitness needs to be improved

If he could drop anywhere from 5-10kgs I absolutely believe he can play at AFL for longer then expected

My guess at a trade.

Freo give their first round pick (~16), their future first round pick (~16) and their future second round pick (~34).

Freo get Jackson and Melbourne's future third round pick (~54).

I think freo can get away with trading out of next years draft as their have some young gems that cant get games right now (Erasmus, Johnson, Amiss etc).

Melbourne would feel justifiably robbed.

Really?

Was pick number 3 and you want to give 2 late first rounders for him?
No chance.

Not sure what else can be done. I doubt Meek and/or Lobb being traded would bring in picks better than their firsts. Perhaps they can include an under the table sort of deal where freo adjust Angus Brayshaw's contract so Melbourne would get a better compo pick when he likely leaves at the end of the year?

You can only trade what you have and this is very beneficial to freo at this stage as he is uncontracted. PSD is there as WCE could pick him there. I don't think he's worth the money. The next 3-4 weeks will show if that's the case. Also remember that these dollar figures are always inflated. It might be a 7 year offer and the highest season of pay might be 1.5 million.

Freo can literally only offer two firsts and then Melbourne need to try and get a significant player to want to play for them from the dockers list.

I really hope WCE are out of the running, no matter how much he shows in the next few weeks without Gawn.

Lobb would have to be included in any trade you'd think.
Pretty sure he won't go through to the PSD.

I thought Lobb wanted out because Freo were looking basket case-like. If that's the case I reckon he'd do a 180 on that decision based on the season so far. And the Giants don't look like world beaters.
Yep, I reckon Lobb is on that bandwagon. Yee-hah!

It will come down to cash for Lobb.

He’s on overs are the moment so if he can get $800,000 and more years elsewhere, I doubt he stays.

Which might not be a bad thing for Freo since he’s playing good footy now, but hasn’t exactly proven that to be a long term thing.

You wouldn't think Freo would be making such a hugely ridiculous offer unless Lobb is out the door. I also don't see Freo having the cap space for it with him there as well.

Also hard to think GWS would be willing to part with their second rounder for Lobb. Draft picks are worth exponentially less the deeper in the draft they go. They may be willing to offer this and next years third for Lobb. Maybe a best scenario for freo would be a swap of 2023 second round picks with GWS however if you trade your first rounder out of a future draft you can't trade any of your later picks in that draft so they still wouldn't be able to ontrade that pick to melbourne without AFL permission.

He's contracted, so same as last year, Freo has the upper hand.

Pretty sure no club will pay $800 000 for Rory Lobb.

All Australian and Worsfold Medalist in 2020 and 2021.

Imagine what an effectual ruckman could have done.
