Victoria and especially New South Wales are on current trends looking likely to double confirmed cases every 3 days. Those two states are not doing ok at all.

We are in a period of accelaration when comes to COVID 19 transmission. Check the graph and reconsider your assessment that we are "flattening the curve" with current measures.

Im not under playing this (I don’t think they should play at all) but surely more rigor needs to go into those numbers?

What impact has the call for returning Australians had on the curve and how many of those cases are from accounted sources

Once we have significant uncontained cases (and that’s inevitable) then all bets are off

The most successful countries are going to be those that can maintain self isolation measures for the medium term and continue testing extensively

Lol. The PM went to the rugby. He's an idiot.

I'm guessing you're a tier 3 folk. You're either happy with that, or you're not.
The PM did not attend a Rugby League game - one that was open to the public based on the medical advice at the time. Rugby is a different game.

Not sure what you got right, how many shops did you visit today to hord pasta?

Bullshit. The people who stay inside are less likely to get it.

The super fit professional athletes will get it, feel no physical effects, then spread it around the country while they're flying interstate to chase a ball around for an hour or two.
Some do seem to be confusing risk of contraction with risk of serious health repercussions. Everyone can get it and then spread it, including super fit athletes and kids. They're just not likely to be seriously ill from it.

1. Orthopaedic surgeons aren't idiots - they have extensive surgical training and part of that surgical training generally includes exposure to critical care units. You make it sound like they haven't seen a ventilator before and they would not be managing anything more "medical" without input from a treating physician.

On a side note - if your mum was intubated for several days would you like her managed by an ICU consultant or an orthopaedic surgery consultant?

If she needs a hip replacement I know I would choose the surgeon.

Horses for courses - this is why you will consider a program to specialise in after your intern/HMO/junior reg years, right?

Leaders need to be decisive.

How can we be nearly 24 hours from the opening game, and still not know whether it's going ahead or not?

There is only one feasible position - suspend the season until we come out the other side of the virus.

If it eventuates that the season ends up being cancelled, so be it.

Friggin debacle.

No it hasn't

England and Ireland raced on the weekend
Haven’t they? OK then;

It is 12 months that is it. It’s not the world ending we aren’t going to see the world go up in flames. For most of us it’s purely a small cold that goes away in a day or so. Have no reason to stop working during this period albeit some may be at home.

Fast forward to October this year and it should almost be past with a vaccine to fix it.
Out of interest, what do you do? You’re in a privileged position re work.

Again you are missing the point. A lot of people are going to be unemployed. I have friends who have already lost jobs. People’s freedom to do as they like has been stripped away from them in an instant as well. We look headed for a recession. That is going to destroy many peoples savings. This isn’t just some minor occurrence.

Find me one credible source that says we’re going to have a vaccine for everyone ready by October. That is a ridiculous prediction.

You are extremly naive.

It is almost 24 hours until the season is scheduled to start. Scott Morrison said hours ago that it is up to the AFL. Yet, they still have not made a call.

Make a call with a disclaimer if it is yes, and if things change tomorrow then you can change the call. If you don’t want it to go ahead, then say no already.
