As someone mentioned to me the other day. It is like putting your fire trucks near clear bush in preparation of a fire on the opposite side of the national parkl while trying to put out the raging bush fire on the other end of the forrest with a garden hose and some buckets
Great analogy, I will steal that one

I mean the fact that the state government was willing to pay for multiple police choppers (that's not a cheap exercise) along with all of the costs to the economy associated with shutting down restaraunts, businesses, schools, etc but were at the same time paying unskilled labour $18 bucks an hour to manage the most critical part of the process still beggars belief.

Anyone Know if construction will stop in Melbourne. Partner has a job lined up for Monash freeway imminently and we have to move from nsw.

As far as i can see there has been zero consultation with industry.
Dan seems to think its just a matter of walking out and locking the doors.

I agree it takes just one person to spread it, and really most of this comes down to luck (ie. 1 person can spread it to 30 and be a super spreader, while 5 people could come into QLD and not spread it at all).
But so far, there’s no signs of a super spreader event here with the current cases.

2000 close contacts of the 2 who snuck in tested, only 3 positive (the sister and the one couple identified).
700 tested at the school that was potentially exposed, all negative.
And 104/105 patients tested at the aged care facility that was potentially exposed, all negative.

50,000 in total tested since Wednesday when we had our first local cases for 80ish days.

The high risk contacts have been tested and confirmed negative so far, if we can keep that up for a week we’ll be back to a solid position.

If you do everything correctly under stage 3 ( with masks ) you probably won't catch it from the "one spreader".

From those numbers, we can see Its not some "super virus" we just need to stop the dickheads.

Just measured out 5 km on Google Maps from home - still allows for pretty good bike rides.
That’s about 80 square kilometres to play with. Could be worse.

What's happening in Victoria is such a mess, and it was entirely avoidable too. Has anyone actually being held responsible for the quarantine blunders? I'd be genuinely surprised if no Ministers or Department Chiefs haven't been let go yet.
Hotel quarantine inquiry starts talking to witnesses this Thursday (6th) I believe. We should save the finger pointing until after that’s suitably resolved.

Another one , straight from Dickhead central.
a random Victorian crossing into NSW, has only 1 in 5000 chance of carrying it.
But someone who goes so far out of their way to do the wrong thing, ( Dickhead ) and lives in the hot area, ....i'd give him 50:50.

VICTORIAN MAN FINED IN THE ACT
A Victorian man has been slapped with a $1000 fine by ACT police after crossing into NSW from Victoria on July 24.

The 38-year-old Laverton man was required to self-isolate after entering NSW but police were unable to find him when they went looking for him the following day.

He was later tracked down in Canberra without an exemption to enter the territory.

He was slapped with a Criminal Infringement Notice for breaching the ACT’s COVID-19 directions before being escorted into NSW, where he will be required to self-isolate for 14 days.

I think QLD will be very lucky indeed if they don't end up with community spread from the actions of those rather silly ladies earlier in the week.
I am hoping QLD manages to dodge this one.

It's important to realise in times like this, that deadshits are everywhere. One is in the High Courtnow trying to force his way in to WA as we speak.

Hard Borders sounds like the title of a Porno btw.

Oh you knew moron security guards were going to fu** the quaranined travellors?
We hadn't f’ed anything up in april.

Its not a wave !!!! its a bloody virus that you can catch if you get too chummy with other people who have it.
If you said in "April" we had f’ed it up, then that's jut proof that you were guessing. There was SFA in the community then.

You know the AFL have their own protocols over and above QLD right?
They have been enforcing them too. ( Nathan Buckly will be personally paying his share of 50K. )
I think you're wrong.
You had the meatworks cluster and another cluster.

you guys were opening back up on the strength of daily local transmissions that shut west oz down

Every day it was like 10,15,21,9,12, 20 - And your premier was under a huge amount of pressure to reopen by the idiotic opposition who now seem to have forgotten that they were screaming to open up.

To put it in perspective wa and sa had over a month of zero local / community transmissions before we relaxed any restrictions.

Nah they were returned travellers, wa/sa had no cases because you didn't take travellers.

The blame for this is entirely on hotel quarantine

The actual problem wasn't going to lighter restrictions.
The problem was people ignoring the restrictions that remained in place.

Honestly I'm sure that people who normally hardly ever left their homes started driving 50km to mingle, simply because they were told not to.

Victoria has had 985 cases from returned travellers
WA has had 576 cases from returned travellers.

per head population WA has taken more than Victoria

Don't forget the pressure from Eddie and the AFL as well!

Comparing positive cases is not the same as total number
