Must hurt getting beat twice by a 3rd tier club!Essendon is starting to act like the Kangawhos. Their demise to the rank of a third tier club has happened sooner than I expected.
Clubs should not be allowed to rename stands.
One end should be (permanently) Lloyd, one end Reiwoldt upon retirement IMHO.

If Essendon owned the Dome then sure.Well consideing the stands are not named anything at the Dome maybe Essendon should name them the Lloyd and Hird stands and then they won't ever get renamed.

It's our home ground. We don't need to own it. We will be nice and let the Sainters name one stand after one of teir greats.
It's our home ground for our home games. We'll do as we please. Thankyou for your concern.
It's not your home ground actually. It's a stadium you rent to play some games of football at. There will be rules as to what you can do with it when you use it.
I'm not sure of the details of actual ownership, but I know that Channel 7 and the AFL would have had some say in how the new owners could treat the facility. The AFL were the ones who originally called the ends Lockett/Coventry. Probably had very good reasons for that decision. I also expect they would have told the new ground owners what 'naming rights' they could sell (EG: the stadium name) and what they could not. For example, I'll bet they can't call it 'The Channel Nine Stadium', no matter how much Eddie pays.
If the Ground owners are allowed to make the changes suggested here, my respect for the AFL plummets even further.

Dunno why you'd name ends after guys who never played at a ground. Was a way for the Dome to ingratiate itself with the game I spose.
stupid idea
do we expect commentators and opposition fans to refer to them as "the lloyd" end, etc
if so that is very arrogant of the club

I've never heard a commentator or any other person for that matter, refer to then ends as the Coventry and Lockett end.
Don't stop. All of you.
I'm enjoying this.
You must not watch or listen to a lot of footy played there.
Me too, I love to see essendon pwned
I would not have the faintest clue which end is the Coventry end and which end is the Lockett end. I bet you in six months time I will know which one the Lloyd end is though
