Is that necessarily a bad thing? If they're out the other side, doesn't that mean less infected travelling here?
I read world news and formulate my own views . . I do adventure outdoors a lot , contrary to your assumption . I've been to Exmouth , Coral Bay , Denmark and Gracetown this school holidays . The folks up in Exmouth appreciated my family wearing the mask gave us free gifts for wearing them .Well if they are like you I’m guessing they are scared to go out the front door so I doubt they will get it from anyone.
Exhibit a) on what McGowans scaremongering has done to people.
Mark McGowan blah blah blah.. “There is never an excuse to be rude to staff – not now, not ever. It’s not the Western Australian way.
Jail threat for anyone who harasses staff over vax proof
Frontline staff policing Australia’s broadest proof of vaccination laws will be backed by tough new penalties that could see anyone who ‘threatens’, ‘intimidates’ jailed or fined from Monday.www.perthnow.com.au
I feel bad for this guy’s family. He listened to a bunch of right-wing shysters who are almost definitely vaccinated, tried to make some grand political statement by refusing a safe, free and effective vaccine, and now leaves behind a wife and four kids. Sorry your dad didn’t love you enough to protect himself during a deadly pandemic.
Dr Khorshid flags more restrictions needed in WA due to Omicron outbreak:
In related news, he's also been removed from the Christmas card list of a fair few let 'er rippers.
Doctor says 'more restrictions are going to be required' for WA

This is why people get tied up in knots when they are trying to argue a "side" rather than just calling balls and strikes. When this bloke came out against McGowan's backflip he had to be dismissed. Now he has come out wanting tighter restictions he's back in the good books. What he is saying about restrictions on nighclubs and other density related curbs are just common sense (ie unlike alcohol mandates).
This is your take when 8 out of 10 doctors say the state government has dropped the ball on preparing the health system (but more than half of them are still realistic enough to say that the border should come down)?
Doesn't make sense why should they be closed when only the vaxxed can attend? The same people who are griping about not being able to do quarantine-free travel will unquestionably also be whinging loudly when significant restrictions come in and their favourite bars and restaurants are closing due to Covid outbreaks or have cape on how many people can be there at one time.
Is it just me, or is out outbreak looking quite different to SA's outbreak at a similar point?
I mean omicron is clearly getting around but the new cases have remained pretty stable since we had that first big day.
I'd say opening up right at the point where other states have just about bottomed (end of Feb or early March) might work out very well for us from a number of deaths perspective.
Incredible gaslighting by Perottet’s spokesman saying “The NSW government’s top priority is and always has been the health and safety of our people.”
The fact that this is considered less controversial and newsworthy than the WA government pushing back the reopening date by (most likely) a couple of months really shows what kind of angle a lot of the media is pushing here.
I've been expecting an explosion in numbers, but it hasn't happened. It's bouncing up and down a bit but has so far maxed out at 24 I think. And this is since pre-Xmas. What could the reasons be? Less dense living than over east? A recently vaccinated population??...Is it just me, or is out outbreak looking quite different to SA's outbreak at a similar point?

Why?? Perottet is an elected who official who was elected by the people and accountable to then when the next election is due in NSW. He was installed as leader to lead during the pandemic... Its up to him to listen to advice and then make a decision not blindly follow health advice from unelected bureaucrats many who don't have a clue what they are on about eg: closing playgrounds in Victoria, pizza box lockdowns in SA. Heck McGowan makes his own rules up as he goes along hence we never see Andy Robertson daily or doing interviews with anyone.

Have you got a comparison? I'd be interested to know what our testing numbers look like compared to somewhere like SA at a similar point in their exposure to Omicron.
Good old CovidLive shows us testing at a lower rate to SA during that week compared to our last week.

Testing numbers might be low but the majority of the positive cases are linked to the main clusters. I'd expect a lot more unlinked cases than we've had so far.
I'm definitely not looking forward to my first test. It's still very foreign for WA folk to get tested at all. I won't be surprised when cases sky rocket here and it turns out quite a few were self diagnosing and thinking they just had a cold or flu. Or they incorrectly use a RAT to clear themselves.
We have a slippery slope of Covid exposure and education to endure this year.
If it wasn't a risk to clogging up the forum with more Covid stuff I'd be curious to start a few polls. Who has had Covid, who has a family member who has had Covid, who has been tested for Covid?
I'm definitely not looking forward to my first test.
