Where's Travaglia at? Is he in consideration for this week?
Played VFL but who knows how he went given the deplorable Sandy media presence

After watching Xavier Lindsay on the weekend, I kind of just want to throw Trav in and see what he can do. Ross didn't seem very impressed with O'Connell so could be possible. Also could come in for Jones if Henry isn't ready

But to be fair Bassett and a lot of the board that told us to trust them we are doing it right this time when they brought Ratts in, are the same ones telling us we are doing it properly this time. This is a 14 year rebuild can understand 100% why supporters are getting p1ssed and not buying memberships

Read some of Bassetts emails telling us we are building for sustained success this time when he brought in Ratts - Leathlean and others years ago
Paying a membership fee doesn’t entitle us to success though. We’re one of 18, soon to be 19 clubs and unfortunately the AFL haven’t managed the equalisation mechanisms to ensure everyone gets a lick of the spoon.

What the membership fee does entitle us to is the club doing everything in their power to give us the best shot we can get at a flag. What we have done the past 2 years has been night and day to the decade prior and there’s no logical way to dispute this all things considered.

It is early days but we are no more entitled to success than any other club and will only come as a byproduct of doing things the right way. Which there is a blue print for.

At least it was only the 4th biggest flogging of the round....

Seriously though, it was a tough watch. The thing that struck me (out of a lot of issues) was how much better structured they were at stoppages, like they seemed to be better set up both behind and in front of the rucks so regardless of where the taps went they just used the ball better.

We did ok in clearances but sooo much of it seemed to end up 'flick handball backwards, receiver runs sideways for 5m then kicks blindly across the body' for an ineffective F50 entry or ineffective kick to half forward.

It's a bit silly singling players out but Clark was such a disappointment to watch. There was a play in the (4th I think) where he got up for a mark on the wing and couldn't quite hold on (there was a fairly clean spoil from behind); ball spilled to the wing where a Crows play got it and he did not chase at all, absolutely pulled up and decided to just casually jog in a defensive direction. When you've really only just come on that kind of conditioning is inexcusable.

At least the commentators noted several times that we had 7 best-22 players missing (and I think with the exception of opinions re: Butler's current form that's accurate); you could have said effectively 8 since Marshall was obviously seriously hampered most of the game.
Re Clark and it’s the same re jones ro Arie , like when you have that many guys who have not played any praccy matches and missed lots of the pre season, unfortunately it’s gonna happan.

I mean realistically

Hall
Arie
Boyd
Sinclair
Ro
Clark
O’Connel

All first practice games/first games.

it’s not an excuse more an explanation.

In addition guys with interrupted pre seasons

Camaniti
Wood

Lastly no wonder we had so many times defenders went third man up and didn’t impact or slipped tackles.

Hastie
O’Connel
Shoey

Super inexperienced and it showed. IDC if we had the same number of players under x games. These guys were playing on walker and Fog etc.

Matty Lloyd looks and sounds like Derek Zoolander, played by Ben Stiller in the eponymous movie, that takes the piss out of the modeling industry, “Zoolander”.

Every time I see Matty attempt to sound serious and he stares straight down the barrel, all I can see is the cretinous Derek giving us his signature look, “Blue Steel.”

Then he opens his mouth and sounds as stupid and vacuous as Derek as well. At he thinks he’s really, really, ridiculously good looking, as Matty and Derek both know is all that matters.

No supporters like me show up and get rewarded with putrid football.

Supporters like me are sick and tired of the excuses. Sick of the same old shit coming out of the club.

We have heard that we will come good in a few years for far too long. It's like Homer Simpson with the flying pig.

St Kilda fans are far too accepting of mediocrity. Collingwood fans don't. Carlton fans. Why should we? Why should we not demand high standards?
We should be demanding success now and that success be sustained.
Carlton fans don’t except mediocrity ? Hahaha are you having a lend. They’re as bad as we are and they r got a list 20 times better then us.

Didn’t we beat them the last two times we played them ?
We are actually usually very good against the Cats at Marvel, but that was with a really well-organised defence and we would counter punch them. What we saw on the weekend it's hard to imagine restricting their scoring.

We also don't have the perfect Battle matchup for Cameron anymore

Cordy will get smoked by Neale

7+ goals between them while Caminiti does fk all

Cats by 50+

Wilkie’s done the job on Cameron before (was his match up kore often than Battle was). Neale and Henry are going to be struggle though. Webster will likely have to take Henry but that leaves us vulnerable for Stengle and Miers to dominate.

the thing that frustrates me with caminiti isn't his lack of marks/goals, but just his general footballing skill, kicking/handpassing etc. Would prefer to see him playing back if he's gonna play anywhere, cordy out, cam back, keeler forward
I actually think his handballing is good. Believe it or not but at times I feel play slows around him - he's really good at finding the right handball to a guy flying past

But agree, his kicking is poor but as long as he simplifies it I think its fine for defence

Ultimately, there's a reason why he was a SSP signing, not a first round pick

He’s holding the fort for Keeler(forward) and Barrat (Defence). Tauru for either. Hurry up guys!

If we send Wilkie to Cameron then our intercepting is in the bin because they'll be up the ground most the time

I'd rather send him to Henry and chuck LOC on Jez since he has the mobility and is relatively stronger than a Hastie

Webster just has to take Stengle

If Miers goes crazy then we can always send Windy back too and move Sinc or Nas higher up the ground. Speaking of Nas, I'd love for us to start giving him more midfield time - it seems like he's gotten stronger and might be able to match it inside with the bigger guys now

Nah mostly injuries actually - injuries in that experience bracket:

King, Dow, Henry, Owens, Sharman, Phillipou, Carroll

Not to mention interrupted pre-seasons for Clark and Caminiti leaving them underdone.

The main problem yesterday was that we were missing most of the players who should be able to drive our improvement this year. Unfortunately that's not going to get fixed any time soon.

Phillipou isn’t in that bracket nor Owens and Henry. The players we are missing are between 23 and 27. We moved on a bunch of players and didn’t upgrade them. Injury didn’t help but sides like Adelaide are moving forward because a bulk of their list is starting to hit that age of peak consistency. We will have to back fill and fast track kids to compete and hope it’s enough. Lethlean absolutely rooted the list. And we’ve done heaps of drafting to fix it. It’s still going to leave holes.

A full strength North got beaten by a Bulldogs team more understrength than us, but you keep building them.up.

They also got a whole bunch of free draft picks which they used to pick up good kids and trade for some experience.
With the legups they got, like Gold Coast they should be dominant.
When do we get the leg ups? The free NGA's or our CEO goes to the AFL and grants their ex club a bunch of free draft picks because they purposely destroyed their list.
You compare our drafting with theirs while we have one hand tied behind our backs.

North are a young bottom out, they will come good. Pretty sure you said the same when I said Brisbane would jump us. North will catapult at some point, maybe not this year but will. We are a patchwork and are trying to do a Geelong style build on the run but without a range of ages.

Need Stocker back.
He might at least make them earn it.

O’Connell would get murdered by Cameron. Doesn’t have the defensive skill needed to play on a superstar like Jezza.
