So the Port Board believe Summerton has to play and that an AFL player will sit out if they are all fit. When were those rules invented. The rules stated AFL players have to play first. Therefore Summerton should miss if Port are fully fit.

We can't not follow the rules. Our understanding is that Summerton has to play as our captain. A Power player would therefore be forced to sit out.

If fully fit we will have 3 Power players that have to miss an entire week of footy (I would think you guys could have the same conundrum if you're injury free). However it is likely Hartlett, Hombsch and Boak might still be injured and no player misses out this week.

I have just confirmed with the SANFL. Port must play all available AFL players. Unavailable players include held back Emergencys and injured players.

Fair enough, thanks for confirming that. Will have to see what happens then if the Power list has anything under 3 Injuries. This week is an exception as we play at basically the same time so we have 1 emergency + a possible pregnancy emergency + 1 injury that kept Summerton in, but next week it's theoretically possible there may be zero injuries and Summerton will miss with 2 Power players forced to skip a week of footy.

Is there a reserve team that they could go back to? Or is it just bad luck if they run out of positions to fill?

We do have a reserves squad as well, called the academy team. However the SANFL made a rule that no Power players can play at that level. We got special exemption for Howard to play at that level for 3 qtrs as he was coming back from a knee record, but no other player will be allowed. Would be quite a story to think a fit AFL listed player could actually be forced to miss out on playing completely for a week.

Port could ask the SANFL if it was possible to play those players, it would then be up to that competition to either approve or not approve keeping in mind whether it's reserves or league, it's the clubs that are playing for the premierships in those competitions that could be dissadvantaged. So maybe the SANFL would need to go back to those particular clubs that could be dissadvantaged by a team playing outside the rules of their competition and ask for their approval.

If the sig keeps on his upward trajectory will he get a game this year? He looks like he could be a weapon with a strong team around him
No he is green as. Does remind me of a young Cassisi though.

Full credit to Port and the fitness staff being able to fill 2 sides with listed players. We were in the same boat last year so we know how good it feels
First in best dressed.
