Cyril Rioli second in the Rising Star!

Rioli was robbed. Palmer only gets credit cos he's a midfielder in a team with non existent midfield talent. Palmer can't even kick well for crying out loud. Rioli contributed to our wins and would hav had more trouble maintaining his place in the side.

Ripped off. But suppose you gotta give Freo something.

Cyril should had won it, Palmer may have had more disposals but what he did with those disposals was nothing compared to what Cryril did, but Congrats to Palmer well done.
Go hawks go Cyril Rioli...............:thumbsu:

Good on Cyril, to stand out in a team full of talent takes something special.

Atleast he'll be playing finals, can't see Freo doing that for quite some time.

To be honest, I'm surprised it was as close as it was, a lot of the judges rate Rioli it seems. Congrats to both players though for sweeping up the votes.

Palmer's a more than worthy recipient of the award, let's not turn into Carlton supporters here.

Seriously though, Palmer deserved it. Rioli wasn't robbed, he was second by a street (to third) - a just position.

Well done to Palmer, and congrats to Rioli for being runners up.
We've won the Coleman medal lost out on the NAB Rising star award but there are still two available, the Norm Smith medal and of cause the Premiership cup...lets hope.

No complaints here. Does make you wonder what a small forward would need to do to win it though...

If Rioli averaged over 2 goals a game, I think that would have done it. But his average is like 0.9, or 0.8. His exquisite disposal made everyone pay attention... but without the goals he couldn't have won.

Well done to both.

I very much look forward to seeing Cyril and Cameron tear it up alongside some other incredibly exciting players in your team for some time to come. :thumbsu:

No sour grapes boys. :p

Yeah it's a shame our boy didn't win it, however being up there with Palmer well ahead of the rest is a bloody good effort. :thumbsu:

Exactly. Fair result.

Well done Junior and congratulations Rhys Palmer on an outstanding debut season. The criticism of Palmer's disposal is over the top. The kid can play.

Well done Rioli but remember he has a far bigger prize at stake than just the RS Award this September.

Good luck in the finals lads - I am sure we will be seeing you and the Cats thump it out and you will have my support in that game.

He was just unlucky - Palmer had a freak year for a first season ...I think Rioli would have won it in most of the previous seasons.

Pretty much, Palmer was outstanding and there is no shame for Rioli comming second to him, would take Palmer in our side in an instant, runs like a little bateman:thumbsu:

Nicely posted, mate.

I would have liked to have seen Cyril's year recognised, but I would give up every award, including the Coleman and the Brownlow, for a shot at the big one.
