Smith was a number 6 draft pick, Wells a number 2 pick why is one languishing and one setting the AFL on fire( for a 1st year player from interstate) Am I reading too much into this or is Wells a much much much better prospect?
And when talk of trade comes up will D Smith be high on the list?

Dylan in his first year suffered with a spate of hamstring problems and a few minor injuries and most first year players usually taper of in their first year if they go flat out from the start.

He just has to keep working at it and he will eventually get a gig.

But wells is alot player as he has one thing smith doesn,t and thats pace.

I like Dylan Smith alot as a footballer and am disgusted at the way he has been seemingly completely shut out by Laidley this year, particularly after seeing all but 3 or 4 of his VFL games this season.

But i think if we're being realistic here, then it needs to be said that Wells has ALOT of things Dylan doesnt have, pace certainly being one of them!!

Ummm...1 was a genuine 2nd draft pick and the other was a mistake. There is no comparison between the players - not fair on Smith. Quite simply whoever decided to use the early draft pick on Smith ****ed up. Round 4 selection is probably a better assessment of Smith in hindsight.

Am not knocking the kid - he has a dip, but lacks the skills. I know there are a heap of Smith supporters in here - but face it...his days at the club are numbered. If the match committee thought he was up to it - he'd be getting a game.

When a first year player is leading the AFL in smothers (Wells) with one of his team mates (Makepeace) then I think it says alot about that player.

Smith, well, I don't know. Just hasn't worked out for him at Arden St, and I am wondering if it ever will, would love it too.. but?

Go Roos

Having seen a little of Dylan and hearing him speak at 1/4 and 3/4 time he is a natural leader.
He might'nt have the pace but " HE GETS THE BALL AND GIVES IT OFF " ( see G.Williams & S.West ! )
If he does'nt get a go and ends up at another club we will live to regret it.
