Not one ESL player in there Drifter? That is like reverse bias. Equal first on points and not a player in the team of the year so far.

B Connors is number 4 for OW, his brother Grant is number 14.

Great Effort at that team Drifter. Proves your knowledge of D2 is as 'expert' as it gets.

Yes there are no ESL players - just following orders on that front:D

To confirm also G Connors the big left footer is the one I want in the team

Id suspect there would be 8 ESL with some claims on spots - some certs amongst them

Other than that - its as genuine as I can get

I will be drafting my previews soon

I only have one complaint, can you please not refer to us as IA? We dropped the Assumption 2 years ago, its my pet hate.
As far as the team goes, looks pretty good (i'm no expert), but as Akka pointed out, you've downplayed your boys, considering 2 of them made the C-D4 rep team, i'm surprised they can't get a gig in the D2 team?????

They lost to South Melbourne Districts last year at Lindsay Hassett. The year before they missed out by percentage on playing finals, but did have a lot of injuries. I think in their history of VAFA reserves they have won 2 flags.

Emmaus St Leos OC

Position: 3rd (8-1)

Best Game: Probably Bentleigh at Bentleigh (Round 8) - played a full 4 quarters for 1st and only time this season. Won by 119 points.

Worst Game: Round 9 win over Old Paradians. Just couldnt get any system going - scoreboard flattered us - seemed especially poor following the Bentleigh game

Leading Goalkicker: Ben Ellis 27

Leading B & F (prediction): Half a dozen in the mix

2nd half of the year
Key games: Banyule (H-Round 14), Werribee (A-Round 18)

Predicted finish: 1st

does anyone know anything about Banyule? every other team seems to get a mention on here ( 2 teams out West more than enough) yet they are sitting pretty having lost only 1 game and appear to be a mystery. What are their weaknesses/strengths?

Banyule - massive premiership threat - pity they aren't on this thread

Standout players are Drapac and Braddy (switch onball/wing - forward) who are gun players and Tom Shepherd and K Shepherd-Mueller swap between Ruck and Ruck Rover add some strength in the contests.

They are tough - almost impossible to beat at Banyule - and yep very underrated

The game against Werribee next week will be a cracker
 
Old Westbourne AFC

Position: 6th (3-6)

Best Game: Vs Therry Penola away. Dominated first half, and then withstood some questionable tactics in the second half, to run out 70 points winners.

Worst Game: Werribee at home. We were actually very good in the first half, but utterly pathetic in the second.

Leading Goalkicker: Ben Hutton (17)

Leading B & F (prediction): Hutton most consistant so far

2nd half of the year
Key games: Rd 16- GE away, Rd 17- Ivanhoe at home.

Predicted finish: 4th-6th
 
Bentleigh AFC
Position: 9th (2-7)

Best Game: Vs St. Mary's Salesian away... the boys really gelled together to come away with the 4 points in a must win game. A lot of passion in the game and everyone put in a solid performance around the board, with only one left on the bench from 3/4 time due to injuries.

Worst Game: Ivanhoe last week... another must win game and we just let it slip away. Have to get them back on the return leg.

Leading Goalkicker: James Robertson

Leading B & F (prediction): James Robertson and Kyle Swinden

2nd half of the year
Key games: Rd 12 v. Therry, Rd. 13 v. Old Westbourne, Rd. 15 v. Ivanhoe, Rd. 18 v. St. Mary's/Salesion.

Predicted finish: 5th - 8th

They don't post but they definitely do read it. They will only get better in the second half of the year, won't they CS;)
 
Tips this week FWIW

OP v GE: OP's aren't the worst going around, and knocked off GE in round 1 at GE. OP's are young and quick. GE need to rebound from last weeks debacle, and I think they can. Too strong and too much to play for. GE by 1 goal.
I v ESL: Ivanhoe travelling well at the moment, and have proved they can win without Pace. Despite Drifter not rating ESL's performance last week - I'm going to tip them by 2 goals.
BAN v TP: Banyule could be flying under the radar, not a lot of talk about them. They are 8-1 and one of the genuine flag favourites. TP just going - although very good win last week, however this week without Bannister won't have the fire power against quality oppostition. Watch Drapac - arguably the best player in the comp.
We v Ben: One word - Werribee. After a scare against Ivanhoe, they responded the best possible way beliting GE last week. Bentleigh haven't even been just going, but are desperate for a win. Werribee by 25 goals.
OW v SMS: I said it last week - and still think that OW are coming. They fell just short against a quality banyule outfit, and should beat SMS quite comfortably here. OW by 6 goals.

Anyone from TP - be great to get a match report from your game this week as nobody has said anything about Banyule.

theyre not flying under the radar. its just that none of their players come on here to blow their own trumpet.
we all know they are good. we can all see the results each week. they are 8-1 and came 3rd last year from memory. they were never going to be outside of the finals this season and have lived up to expectation.
you dont need people talking on here to realise banyule are a good D2 footy side, its in the results every week.

Slight correction Red & The Blue

Banyule did not play finals last year - I think they came 5th

It went SMD, Aquinas, Werribee, ESL then Banyule, GE, SMS, Bent, Will, St Johns

Absolutely agree they are a premiership contended

They have have a new coach this year who knows his stuff. Pitty they didn't have him last year.
