Slight correction Red & The Blue

Banyule did not play finals last year - I think they came 5th

It went SMD, Aquinas, Werribee, ESL then Banyule, GE, SMS, Bent, Will, St Johns

Absolutely agree they are a premiership contended

Thats actually pretty interesting Drifter.

The four new teams in the comp this year have slotted right in between GE and SMS in the ladder above. Proves that D2 is a very compeitive division. With the promoted and demoted teams coming out obviously.

I dont know that much mate:D but certainly know 100 times more than you about D2 footy sides.

Why dont you get some other posters to rate D Lee compared to Cam & Trent

Different player and different class of player

Drifter i do agree that D. lee is a different player to the Lee brothers.
Although he is different he is still the better player. Can play tall or short and never misses.

Centurion if D. lee stayed at Werribee you would realise he is a better player than the Lee bros. In between sizes as a forward but will end up taking any teams best defender and still kick goals. More importantly not junktime goals.

Very interesting post

On what i have seen the past 2 seasons I think he trails the other boys in ability. However I will reserve judgement if D Lee's best is yet to be seen in D2

Crazy Bear - what in your opinion makes the new Banyule coach better than his predecessor other than results which back that up.......

You've gotta be kidding me don't you? Have you seen zuko play much?

i'll admit he is a very good and versatile forward in that he can play small or tall but to suggest he never misses is silly. i understand you don't mean literally but some of the worst sprays i have seen down at werribee have come off danny zuko's boot

oops yes I remember now they were up and about early in the season and their form dropped away toward the end. any threat of this happening again?
anywho it looks like we're in for a wet weekend in town and that usually brings the scorelines a lot closer. could any side be identified as playing particularly well in the wet?
I recall the week where it rained very heavily was when bentleigh played GE, getting a 5 goal jump on them early, only to be roped in when the rain set in for the rest of the match. we thought with the talk of GE being a "tall" side that the rain would help us on that day but no.

On to Round 10

Werribee to dismantle Bentleigh - only wet weather can stop a massive margin here. Will be interesting to see how many Daniel Lee can kick to back up Phantom's claim that he is the best of the Lee boys.

A clash of styles as Glen Eira's size travel to Garvey to take on OP's quick hands and speed. Too much at stake here plus some pay back for Round 1 - GE to win by 3 goals.

Well done on the milestone to Shane Oldfield at SMS - top bloke. Surely this will lift the boys from the combine. However Im totally with Kibe and think OW are a really good side. If they dont show it this week its curtains for 2008. OW by 30 points

Therry Penola travel to Banyule - the toughest place to win in D2 footy. Therry did very well in the wet against us if conditions turn that way but Banyule crushed OP that wet day also so i guess i dont really have a point. Banyule are a very good team and will win easily here by 7 goals plus

Massive ask for ESL as we take on inform Ivanhoe - who have won 3 of 4 and were every chance of beating Werribee in that 1 loss. Add in Wamba's detailed scouting and we have a tough day ahead. We have to keep pace with the top 2 however so i think we can do it. ESL to win

Tips this week:

ESL to beat Ivanhoe. Easily match of the round, and we need Ivanhoe to lose. ESL by three goals.

Werribee to obliterate Bentleigh, Robbo getting 60 touches and kicking 10 is there only hope. Wallert will go to Robbo, he was in the best last week and did a good job on Diamond from all accounts.

OP to do the double over GE in an upset. GE will be on the rebound, but OP arent all that bad in my opinion. Plus we need GE to lose one soon, this could be it. OP by 5 points.

OW over SMS. They beat ran away with it in the last quarter when we last played them. We are fitter now and playing a lot better footy. All are must win games now. OW by 8 goals.

Banyule vs TP. There best players were down last week against us, and they still ground out a win, very good side all round are Banyule. Banyule will be far too good for TP. Banyule by 50 points.

They have have a new coach this year who knows his stuff. Pitty they didn't have him last year.

its amazing what a new coach, that knows his stuff can do. Credit to them.
red and the blue, ive come down recently and watched your boys play.... looks like a strategic nightmare.....ive seen chess pieces been moved to better positions....what r ur thoughts

tips for this week
Werribee to beat Bentleigh....lets just hope the boys out west get on the piss tonight so the game can be somewhat competitive
Glen Eira to just win, in what i think will be the closest game of the round
SMS to get up against OW. the milestone game should lift them over the line
Banyule should have a comfortable win against thery and
ESL are proving to be the force in D2 football this year and should easily account for the Ivenhoe side
good luck to all

What is going on today boys?? Its Friday, surely there is something to talk about. Where have TT and the Chump gone??

Tips

Werr over Bent
ESL over Ivanhoe
Banyule over TP
GE over OP
OW over SMS

Good luck for the weekend, hopefully we have some upsets, give us something to talk about next week.

I did hear that Matty Antonello is out with a broken wrist, could be 7-8 weeks? Any truth in this Werribee boys?? And when is Aaron Taylor back?

Gee Werribee are travelling damn well when you consider their injuries!!

They seem to be missing a quality half dozen every week

Well if he doesnt play tomorrow we'll find out

To tha man, i have seen D. lee play and yes he is a class player.
I'm taking it Zuko is D. Lee's nickname. Of course he doesnt nail every
goal but he hits far more than he misses. Especially from set shots he
kicked 7.2 against Glen Eira. That is a very good result.

You must know him. Going by the fact you use a nickname for him.
Are you a team-mate of his? maybe a disgruntled one at that who is
running around in the magoos? If so i would keep comments like that to myself until i was a regular senior player.

Sorry Centurian, Had a bit on today!

Werribee will have a win this week. no idea of who is in or out.

Good luck to all on the weekend.

Go tigers

Sorry Akka, but for local rivalry and nothing else, i hope OW get done!

ESL (best team that I have seen so far) over a depleted Ivanhoe - 5 goals. The Chump to have a day out
Werribee over Bentleigh by 7 + large ones.
GE to bounce back and knock over Op's - 3 majors.
OW (to start a big push towards the four) with a good win here by 7 goals.
Bears just over Therry - 14 points

The chump.

Thanks to those with the updates on Banyule. Tried some external research of my own and have been told a big inclusion for Banyule this week.... Gayfer, what does anyone know about him?

Youre f*cking kidding me

That is MASSIVE NEWS

Im not happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Apologies for my previous post all - I got carried away but Gayfer returning is pretty significant IMO

Now Akka I see you have tipped 5 from 5 - great call on the OP result

That has opened up 4th spot a fair bit with a few teams eyeing it off....

Match report

I had no idea Ivanhoe Park was so wide - we started slow but managed to get over the top of the hoes.

The game was still alive at 3/4 time which is a credit to the Hoes who are missing half a dozen very important players.

The ground was chopped up a fair bit too so was surprised by the high scoring game.

Phantom - D Lee not amongst the goals yesterday - did he play up forward???

D.Lee was paid very close attention to by one of bentleighs young backman! he did a great job on lee. He did have a few easy shots on goal..and only kicked one...he also had a rough time with the torment of the bentleigh boys on the far wing..... unfortunately did his hammy late in the 3rd quarter..
it was a surprisingly great effort by the dees, definantly in it at 3/4 time ( only down by 2 goals)...however a lack of fitness resulted in the werribee boys running away with the game....#2 lee was also kept quite by another bentleigh youngen.... #23 on the wing continued to towl up stat after stat and imo was the igniter of the run in the last...
hope that answers ur Qns drifter

Dont want to jump ahead but everyone is quiet

3 D2 observations

*OP & TP are stabilising mid table and must be given some more respect by all teams

*OW currently are my tip to take 4th spot - GE struggling at the moment IMO & OW % indicator of their quality

*Banyule hosting Werribee - with the 3 teams up top this home and away season - stating the obvious by saying this is one of the real games of the season with big ramifications

Cheers:thumbsu:

Banyule would go in as favourites i would have thought. Being at home and the small injury crisis at Werribee at the moment.

Will be interesting.

Akka, just like Chinese female swimmers, OW appear from no where. Should WADA be contacted to investigate the emergance of the Warriors? Or where they just really good sleeping pills that the giant has taken?

Yeah thanks Drifter, The OP v GE result was great for us, as was the ESL v Ivanhoe result as well.

Mathc Report.

For the first time this year we were able to use our number one ground, and reaped the benifits. We controlled the play for most of the day and (aided by the breeze) were nearly 10 goals up at quarter time. SMS put together a mini comeback, and by that I mean kicked consecutive goals, mid way through the last quarter but were never really in the game.

SMS struggled to contain a forward line that was missing Jeka and Horsburgh, and really struggled to keep the ball in their forward line when it got down there. We were pretty good throughout the match, but I can't imagine SMS were happy with their efforts, they didnt really fire a shot and I don't think we are a 20 goal better side than they.

Very interesting next few weeks. Massive game vs ESL this week, will be hard to beat your boys on your own turf I think Drifter, but we will have a crack.

Really don't know what your talking about there TT. Few blokes back from injury, you know how it is.

Just trying to get some conversation going on here mate.

YOUR GIVING US NOTHING DOWN THERE!

In the last 5 rounds, you have come from the bottom of the Ladder, to knocking on GE's door for a spot in the finals. the GE boys must be sweating at the moment.

Apparently the finals race was over according to many in this forum a couple of weeks ago, now its open again!

Talk yourselves up, Take on Emmaus this week and come on here and give me crap. I thought OW were looking premiership favourites 5 weeks ago for the 2009 D3 season, now it appears you will have a crack at d2!

Seriously though, the OW defence must be going ok. considering you gave up 171 points to werribee, in 10 rounds you still kept the score against to under 1000 points.

The D2 season is alive again, and its great! (unless your from GE)
