Agreed, watched the Williamstown/Eltham clash on Saturday and Eltham didn't seem to have an aswer for the CY's running game. Top 4 appears destined to comprise Pen, Ban, Willy & TP.

Seagull,

Did you get to see the Glen Eira game the week before? Would be interested to see who you would select in the GE v Turtle game this week.

I did see a little of that game and GE appeared to be a bit more competitive. Not easy to compare games given the 10 goal breeze that was blowing down at williamstown on Saturday but GE for mine.

crazybear,
thanks for the moron call, but Twiggy was making the point that peninsula was effectively "rewarded" with relegation:

"Cheats never Propsper" - maybe in this case they will!!!

spending a whole year simply trying to get back up a division is no reward..

Peninsula V Willy easily game of the round this week, followed by Westbourne V Banyule.. Expect the west' boys to surprise Banyule and put them away by over three goals..

hey boys everyone seems to think that akkas team to the half way point seems to be pretty spot on bar a few doubts im not asking for a complete side but 5 or 6 players you would see as a danger from your respective clubs an the oppoition

Agree with Seagull...Glen Eira were competitive the week before, and with that loss and 2 wins in their last 3 games should be too good for Eltham. The Turtles were nowhere near the outfit that accounted for Willy earlier in the season.

Not much going on here. Surprising with a big week coming up

From the top

Peninsula v Williamstown - Is Willi the real deal? The pirates seem to be reaching their peak at the moment so should win this one. I'd say if Willi can get within 5 goals it should give them some sort of confidence to beat them on a neutral surface come finals time. Will be interested when the scores come through for this one.

Old Westbourne v Banyule - Can the Warriors keep hope alive? Westbourne probably need to win every game from here to get a finals birth, and are an outside chance of doing that. They have 4 home games to trips to OP and GE. I'm going to tip them here in an upset.

Old Paradians v Therry Penola - Can Therry get off the ropes? Seem to be treading water at the moment. Therry need to get the season back on track if they are to make the finals. A loss here will see them on very shakey ground. But I'm tipping them to turn it around and get back in the ring.

Glen Eira v Eltham - Will Glen Eira stay in D2? My Saints can get ourselves further away from the drop zone and just about qualify for D2 in 2010 with a win over the Turtles here. GE should of won in Round 1 at the Turtle Dome and will be looking to seek some revenge on them this week. GE by a goal.

Yarra Valley v Ivanhoe - Can Ivanhoe fight for D2? The loser of this one will move down to the 12 team comp next year. Both teams played well last week against in form teams with the stand out be YV 3 goals adrift of 2nd place Banyule at Banyule. For this reason and the fact that they are at home I'll tip YV.

Good luck to all

Let’s see if I can back-up my 5/5 from last week.

I am going with all the home teams.

Peninsula are the best side in it and I think they will beat Willy comfortably at home. The Pirates by 40 points.

Old Westbourne – a different side at home, and had Banyule’s measure last time. Massive game for both teams. Think we can hold them off. OW by 1 point.

Paradians had a lapse in concentration last week (as I tipped) against a very determined GE. Don’t think they will make the same mistake against Therry, who’s form has dropped considerably. Parades by 15 points

Glen Eira – very hard to beat at home, now that they are up and about. Elthams away record isn’t great. GE by 4 goals.

Yarra Valley – we are the only team they have beaten, which astounds me. Ivanhoe weren’t great last week, it will be interesting to see if big Ang Pace plays again. I’m tipping Yarra Valley by 10 points.

Some very interesting results on the weeked. With 3 of the top 4 losing!!

Although I tipped the Yarra Valley v Ivanhoe result, that scoreline is ridiculous. Ivanhoe were up at hafl time only for YV to pile on 12 unaswered goals in the third. What happened?

In regards to our game v Banyule. Judging by the twos side they put out I'd say they have some serious injuries. Their ones was a very different side than last time as well.

With my boys Glen Eira winning again I thought I would do a form ladder for the second half of the season. This is the 'form' ladder includes Round 10 onwards

1. Peninsula 4 wins 159.3%
2. Glen Eira 3 wins 120.6%
3. Banyule 3 wins 118.3%
4. Old West 3 wins 118.0%
5. Old Parade 2 wins 133.6%
6. Williamstown 2 wins 118.3%
7. Eltham 1 win 85.3%
8. Yarra Valley 1 win 74.2%
9. Therry Penola 1 win 73.7%
10. Ivanhoe 0 wins 46.6%

Clearly shows the dominance of Peninsula at the moment, with the 2 unlikely positions being Glen Eira in 2nd spot and Therry Penola in 9th.

If only the Saints had won more games at the start of the year!

Great effort by OW, akka. In the true spirit of your ground there must have been gale-force wind blowing to one end? If the scores are correct there wasn't a single goal to one end until the final quarter, and only two for the match?!

Agreed Akka it was ridiculous. Taking nothing away from Yarra who are to be congratulated on their game but that effort wasn't so much an indication in the difference of the two sides in ability, but more of committment.

We've just have to take our medicine now!!!

Yep. The Hoes put in an absolute shocker. Although extremely undermanned at the moment, we should still have accounted for Yarra Valley on the weekend. To lose by the margin that we did and to allow them to score 12 unanswered goals in a quarter of footy was unacceptable.
Possibly the worst game I have been involved with during my short time at the club. Hopefully we can turn things around this week at home against the OP's.

Correct as per last post just forgot reference

What's that Buddy? A 20 goal win to the OP's instead of the expected 10?

Just wait and see Bryceyboy. A few blokes back for the Hoes and after a solid sesh on the track Tuesday night, I reckon the boys will go alright. They're keen to make up for the shocking effort in round 1.

Anyone else give the Hoes any chance at all?

Our meanings of a 'solid sesh on the track Tuesday night' must differ buddy. I didn't think beers at the pub qualified as a 'solid sesh'.

Another faultless tipping performance last week with 5/5. A few harder games this week though. Hopefully the results fall in the warriors favour!!!

Eltham v Peninsula. The turtles will be looking to attune for their disappointing loss to Glen Eira last week, but face a very hard task in Peninsula, the ladder leaders. Eltham are a 5 goal better side (at least) at home, but I think the Pirates have too much class in Rees, Payze and Coglan, and will win by 34 points.

Williamstown v Banyule. Game of the round easily. Very interesting that both these teams, who sit 3rd and 2nd respectively, are coming off losses. Not often do you see that. Shows you just how close our competition is.

Banyule’s spot in the four is pretty safe, but Williamstown will be eager to clear themselves of the fast finishing sides such in Old Paradians and Old Westbourne. Banyule’s injury list is starting to take its toll it seems, and beating Willy at the Fearon is hard to do with your best team. Willy will bounce back for mine with a 25-point win.

Ivanhoe v Old Paradians. Ivanhoe had an absolute shocker last week. They are a proud club and I’d imagine the faithful at Hoe Park will accept nothing less than a win this week. Paradians are in form though and will be very tough to beat. Having big Ange Pace back in the line-up must give Ivanhoe some confidence. He hasn’t done much in the last two weeks, but make no mistake, he is a gun. If Ivanhoe can isolate him they can win. I reckon they are a chance. And for the sake of getting Paradians off our backs, I hope they win. The hoes by 5 points.

Therry Penola v Glen Eira. Therry have lost 3 in a row, whilst Glen Eira are on the march, with two W’s on the trot. This could really go either way. Therry will be happy to be back at home, but they don’t seem to have a huge home grand advantage as a lot of the other teams do. Bannister is nearly TP’s only avenue to goal, and they need to change this if they are to keep their spot in the four. Glen Eira will battle hard and I think, and hope they have what it takes to knock Therry off. Winning form is good form, hopefully that continues. Glen Eira by 15 points.

Old Westbourne v Yarra Valley. Yarra Valley got us last time, and we are very keen for some retribution this week. Our big name players seem to be coming good at the right time of the year. If we can continue our good form, then we should win. Artic Park has been a fortress over the last few weeks (barring Peninsula); let’s hope that it continues. The warriors by 1 point.
