am I right to assume the starters are:
PRAHRAN (relegated from D1 - won 5, lost 13 in 2009)
EMMAUS ST LEOS (relegated from D1 - W3, L15 in 09)
THERRY PENOLA (W12, L6 in D2 in 09)
BANYULE (W12, L6 in D2 in 09)
OLD WESTBOURNE (W10, L8 in D2 in 09)
OLD PARADIANS (W9, L8, drew 1 in D2 in 09)
GLEN EIRA (W6, L12 in D2 in 09)
ELTHAM (W6, L12 in D2 in 09)
BENTLEIGH (premiers promoted from D3 - W16+2 finals, L2 in D3 in 09)
ST MARY's SALESIAN (promoted from D3 - W12+2 finals, L6 in D3 in 09)
Im an interested on looker at bentleigh.
the club finally broke through for its first VAFA premiership winning in both the reserves and seniors. that would suggest the clubs list is in good shape with alot of depth. I will suggest now they can finish somewhere from 3rd-6th as they have a bunch of quality youngsters in their low-mid 20s who are ready to gain respect at levels higher than D3. "robbo" leads the way back into a league where he has previously won the league b&f award but will be looking for much more than that in team success.
looking forward to a grand final rematch against st mary's as a healthy rivarly continues. sparks could also fly at bentleigh v therry. I recall a fight amongst spectators last time they met. bentleigh had the wood over therry in 2008 beating them twice, so its interesting to see how high therry finished in 09.
will this league be a walk in the park for prahran or will they and st leos be fighting for finals spots with the rest of us? hopefully this gets some discussion going

Bentleigh also have a few talented youngsters coming from the 19's so its looks all good down at arthur street. if i can recall, the youngsters that played 19's in the morning stepped up and played in the arvo against therry and what a mighty surprise therry got that day

Word filtering to the old dart, is that my old boys have been on a big recruiting spree and may have picked up some of the biggest names to ever play D2 Football. Vodka and Cranberry seems a knowledgable OP supporter, any truth in the rumour Vodka that they have picked up a player straight off a 2009 AFL Senior List. A player who played several senior games. The OPs also appear BOUND for big things in 2010.

Im a regular on big footy for local sides in the west.i dont play though as im over the hill a bit now but know a few things from around mot clubs and have chatted to a few people connected to Old Westbourne,word is they are looking good in the recruitment department.some good players coming across to play with mates from successful senior clubs.Anyone know any more details on who where etc.
Also that rubbish about bentick hartlett and pattison,get fair dinkum its d2 ammo's.they would not waste their time.would be way to easy for them thus would not enjoy footy.any thoughts?

Like all things in October mate I wouldn't read too much (if anything at all) into recruiting rumours. The said AFL player needs to be delisted first let alone come across. It is probably more plausible in a few years time when his career winds down and comes back to play with mates.
Apart from that there is a pool of exciting names been thrown around but again - until signings happen you take it with a grain of salt as I'm sure every club would agree.
Recruits or not, the current playing list has vastly improved and gelled together the past two season so that alone should hold them in a reasonable position.
This thread is starting to remind me of a certain D3 thread around this time last year.
You'd think that Bentick & Hartlett would try there luck again in the VFL, since they spent most of 2009 in the Bullants. I tried to guess them as the recruit being team mates of Boundy's.
Pattison I'm not so sure that a VFL team would pick him up. Personally I didn't rate him at the AFL club that I support. Maybe, if delisted, he'll chase money in the leagues that pay big bucks. But I wouldn't be surprised at all if he was to pull on a green & purple jumper. Time will tell after all it is still October

wow bentleigh mouthing off already, thats not like you guys? Actually looking forward to some friendly banter on bigfooty from the bentleigh boys this year.............
Therry were a completely different side this year from the side that bentleigh beat twice in 08, so i hope you boys aint hanging onto this form or use will be in for a rude awakening.
Therry did finish 3rd last year and werent that far away from going up to d1 in fact perhaps if the cheating pirates werent around then things may have been different.
Good luck to all teams for the upcoming season.
It will be tough for Bentleigh competing into D2, coming up against St Leos, Paradians & Banyule (teams they've never beaten). Throw in Prahran, Therry & Old Westbourne & there's stiff competition, apologies to St Marys.

Correct weight. Pattison has been delisted and if he is not picked up by another AFL club will play at Parade, or so I have been told. I believe he is a fabulous young man and being an ex Paradian he just wants to play with his mates. What a great story if it happens. Boundy if he comes back (strongly rumoured) will launch the club in to a new era. I have never met the boy but I believe he is very close with many of the Paradians and is a tremendous young man with a fabulous family who support the club. Loyalty is very important to him. Time will tell if they are only rumours or not. Thanks V and C for the update and good luck for the year. Pattison and Boundy would make a huge difference.

David has had ample opportunity to play for more money and he has never gone down that road. He left to play for Bullants to play at a higher level of footy and knocked back far bigger offers. Even while at Bullants he continued to play for our club when he could. His loyalty and quality of character could never be questioned.

Bentleigh is searching for a new reserves coach, an assistant coach (preferably two different roles) and a Club 18s coach.

Player revolt.. didn't rate how he helped us win 2 flags
Na on a serious note, the word is he's overseas for 6 months next year which is unfortunate. The players took like ducks to water with both of the new coaches in 2009.
So when does everyones Pre Season start??? We at SMS are kicking off on the 18th November. Looking forward to getting back into it!!!!
