And on another note, Changerooms in D3. Powerhouse and Elsternwick please take note. Your rooms are shockers. I can understand Elsternwick being built in the 30`s or something but Powerhouse your pavilion was built not that long ago and the rooms are a big as a glovebox on a motorcycle, Shocking. Facilities don`t have to be Hilton eske but we at least need room to get changed without having to rub skin with the bloke next to us.

This brings me to my July poll: WHO HAS THE BEST FACILITIES/LOCATION IN D3.

I would say Monash have the best rooms I've seen so far.
Havnt been to La Trobe yet, cant remember what they are like. All I remember is that ground is way to big to be playing on hung over.
Swinny's rooms are pretty bad, but they are identical for both teams. In some cases its not the clubs fault, rather the council who takes upwards of 5 years to make a decision on whether or not to install another lightglobe - Little own upgrade a whole changeroom!!!

He tried to put a whole team on report earlier in the season after one player expressed their disappointment at his blatantly biased umpiring when he got Hawthorn over the line by a goal.

This fella sounds as bad as the reserves Sth Melb umpire from last year. No hiding at all, flat out cheat who did anything to get them into finals...Poor form:thumbsdown:

So what's the drill to do something about poor reserves umpiring?

I mean, its all well and good having a bitchfest on here, and I've said in the past that a quiet word with Benny at HQ will get action happening on the part of official umps, but how do you handle unofficial umps?

Reserve umpires have to be accredited, but once they have their ticket, who looks after them? Have any of them ever been taken aside and spoken to, or lost their accreditation? Everyone seems to know who the bad eggs are, but that seems to be as far as it goes.

Is it a problem of not wanting to rock the boat, as it is hard enough to get guys to pick up a whistle in the first place?

Is it a problem of not wanting to be seen to dob someone in, thereby getting a "low dog" reputation for the club?

I've seen a lot of umps be called cheats, where they would more properly be called "not skilled enough" "need better training" "not up to it" "didn't duck fast enough when the team manager was waving a white top around", but at least they're out there in the middle having a crack.

I'm intererested in this, because I have a similar situation with my boys WRFL junior footy on a Sunday morning, where one particular umpire does blatantly cheat and has gone so far as to alter best'n'fairest vote cards after the game to give his son the points. Not only does it stuff up what should be an enjoyable contest for our kids, but he's not doing his own kids any favours because when it comes to finals and they get league umpires, they will be completely lost without the dozens of unwarranted free kicks and stooging of the goal umpires. They'll get trounced and come off whinging about how the umpires are being unfair and have got it in for them.

Haven't been to Kew yet then?

It is disappointing in that respect and the only thing the league will do is watch one or two games when the umpire in question is officiating. Unfortunately they behave themselves for those games and then revert back to their bad habits.
Yes we know the clubs need to supply umpires in the two's, all anyone really asks is for it to be fair both ways. it is a minority i'm talking about here, but still it is frustrating from a spectators point of view.

West Brunswick have 2 rooms for visitors with a doorway in between only problem is that you can only fit about 8 players on each side. Best away rooms would be Monash for size. Best Social Rooms would be Ivanhoe. Best Away ground would be Kew or Ivanhoe.

Hmm you must have seen Ivanhoe earlier on in the year. That middle is baaaaaaaaaad. Lucky they got some good showers to wash it all off with!

:D

can i get some people thoughts on who they think may be a chance for the league medal???

Should be Brett Connors from OW. He's had an awesome year in a side that should poll most if not all the votes in their games!

Only prob might be others from OW stealing votes off him cos he's not the only one who's had a great year from OW!

He might miss a couple with injury too.

let me guess what club your from....Old Westbourne?

i was involved in elst v haw game, not a swear word was said and not a single punch thrown. we just had the misfortune of being a couple up with 10mins to go

I do believe your talking out of your ar~se whls5.
If you were really involved in the Elsternwick vs Hawthorn game, you would have seen the reported player (#5 for the Wicks) get a yellow card in the 1st quarter, then get a red card in the last quarter for striking a Hawthorn player in the back of the head, then after walking of the ground, abusing and swearing at everyone within earshot, turn left instead of right, go over to the Hawthorn bench, punch number 41 for Hawthorn, then try to headbutt him!!!
No swearing or punching.... HA! Thats funny...
Also, it's interesting that the reported player's name was Matthew Wheelan and he was number 5. Could this be "whls5"?

What a load of crap. Maybe you should concentrate on the footy or join your club's committee to make up for the perceived shortcomings of your club. Every club in D3 has some issue that does not present the ideal 'AFL like' environment to the players.

You obviously haven't been to Swinburne yet. Did you get out the tape measure, the measurements would be pretty similar to almost all other D3 clubs. Noticed you didn't mention the facilities upstairs at Power House, but then again, you were probably too busy sooking about downstairs to join Power House for a beer - nice bloke you are. Which club do you represent - you're a little bit prescious aren't you?

Vege,

I did happen to go into powerhouses "function rooms". Beer in the pot for $2.50. Furkin ripoff cos we all know its Geelong Bitter. From a players perspective, i was making the point that its nice to have room to get changed before the match without having to smell 'maccas' breath from the big night before. And on another point your 'canteen' has *** all variety. Lets face facts Powerhouse, upstairs its allright, but as a bloke/footy player all i`m worried about is whats downstairs.

How come the results of this matter are not on the website yet? Is there an investigation being held into the incident?

In any case Hawthorne's Ump is far to quick on the cards, He needs to realise that a yellow is only meant for audible obscenity, not for when he sees something and decides "yep that bloke needs to go off"

Hawthorn - 4/10 Ground 4/10
Ivanhoe - Missed the game
Elsternwick - 4/10 Ground 3/10
Swinburne - 4/10 Ground 4/10
La Trobe - 8/10 :thumbsu: Ground 8/10 - wet 1/10
Powerhouse - 7/10 Ground 6/10
West B'k - 6/10 Ground 7/10

give me a break you tool.the fact that you didnt go upstairs and have a beer/soft drink after the game with the opposition shows what sort of person/clubman you are.if everyone took your shit attitude when playing away then all clubs would struggle financially.if you want variety in the canteen then go to the local smorgys im sure you have been before.if its too cold and small downstairs get changed at home and do your warm ups in your car:thumbsdown:

Prescious,

The beer is Carlton so $2.50 is good value.

What would you like at the canteen? A roast dinner???? Pretty much the same as what's on offer everywhere else.

And take special note about the comments about councils - very appropriate especially for Power House and it's proximity to the Grand Prix track!!!!!

Let us know when you're next down and Power House might provide access to both rooms, while they get changed in their own chilly marquee out the back. Maybe they will sort out your own private gym, spa and sauna, ice bath pre-prepared for after the game, and couch on the balcony to watch the other game as you take in the magnificent views over the lake towards the city. Would that be enough for you?

He is actually up on 10 charges.

Wow 10 charges, thats impressive in this day and age.

Since I missed the hawthorn game at the start of the year I will wait until next week before expressing any opinions on the Hawthorn Ressies umpire.

Hopefully he isnt just a blatent cheat as it should be a good game in the two's otherwise.

Go Razors!

So after a terrible round 10, lets hope I can add more than 2 to my total of 31.

OW to beat Ivanhoe by 55 points (could this be the demise of my first bandwagon?)
La Trobe to beat Kew by 36 points
West B to beat Monash by 11 points in a close battle
Elsternwick to beat the House by 20 points
Swinburne to beat Hawks by 7 points in match of the round (can this bandwagon continue??)

Good luck all

Fosters, if ur correct in saying it was me, perhaps u could tell me what was said to get the yellow card. I'm not a sniper to hit someone from behind, which is what someone who aerates crap before knowing all the facts would do. Just as u are doing in your quote. If i hit someone they'd know about it, and i wouldn't need to try headbutt him coz he'd already be on the deck
