Didn’t this bloke only poll 4 Brownlow points in a team that had next to no one else taking votes?

Pick 6 for a HBF from an 18th placed team is crazy talk
How often to HBF poll well? How often do HBF in a team that got well beaten every week and won 2 games poll well....

Wouldn't really be using award performance as a criteria

Hmm….

So he played on Higgins in Round 24 when he tore them a new one? Ginnivan in round 22 when he did the same? He kept Bobby Hill to 1.4 in round 21.

Saads a good player but let’s not pretend he plays on and shuts down the best opposition small forward as well.
Saad also looks better than he is because he runs fast, he then usually bounces the ball after 2 steps, runs into trouble and gives it back.

Saad is a good player, Rioli is clearly better and more flexible.

Stats, please. Saad plays deeper and generally on the most dangerous small forward, Rioli often doesn't have an opponent at all.
This is where you are making this mistake

Saad when he was at Essendon was not as good as he has been at Carlton
He went up a level and is now a lot better player than he was at the Suns & Bombers

16.5 at the Suns v 19.9 average disposals a game at Carlton, certainly improvement not sure it qualifies as “ a lot better”

He was off broadway to some degree at the Suns

Dont just look at stats mate , He is more reliable and making better decisions
fact he made AA at Carlton would back my comments i would have thought

Saad was a target version of Houli prior to going to Carlton now he is a good player

Don’t forget Saad also kicks the ball so hard it makes that WOOF sound, even on his little dinky kicks!

My guess is Pick 6 for Rioli, with the Tigers picking up a significant chunk of Rioli's contract to justify the higher pick, because the Tigers have the cap space and would rather use that cash to get a higher pick.
Well pick #6 is the deal for Rioli and we all acknowledge that and if itis not pick #6 then there is no trade

Now for the Salary component !!
That is separate to the #6/Rioli deal

How much salary GC want covered will depend on what extra pick they are prepared to give up
cap space is not steak knives its extra value

Sorry mate I'm just popping in a guess in this thread so that I can come back to it later to see if I'm close or not. Obviously I think I'm close to right, because that's the guess that I'm making in this thread, but I don't have inside information and I don't really care either way. You could be right, "if it's not pick 6 then there is no trade" could be the case. The Tigers could demand more for Rioli, they could get more for Rioli, the Suns could haggle the Tigers down for less, I don't know and I'm not pretending to know.

I've seen you pop up in a lot of threads and you seem like one of those posters who takes things personally and gets really intense about arguing on a trade forum and I'm just not into that.

I'm just guessing because it seemed like some harmless fun.

The truth of it all is we have no influence at all and most posters here including myself are Bias towards our teams
But there are indications that point to pick #6 being the corner stone of deals like valuations of prior trades and word coming out from clubs.

The Adam Saad deal is probably the most like for like deal except that Rioli is contracted and a better player today than Saad was when traded. Wayne Campbell & Dimma saying what they have indicates its getting done no matter what and the what will be pick 6 and why should Richmond accept less.

But i also see posts that say this and that and the old team pay $$$
we can say that easily as a throw away line but clubs look at it in greater detail and consider the cap contribution as a separate asset and have valuations on that asset

We all witnessed how much Gold Coast had to pay to get $500k off their books when the Bowes trade went through
2 years at $500k equaled pick #7

Richmond wont just pay a players salary without something significant coming back and this goes for the Bolton trade also with his $1.2 mil x 4 year contract

Bowes was 2 x $800k. But keep going 😉

It’s pick 6 or it doesn’t happen. Both clubs know this, there’ll be something of a late pick back or Richmond will pick up some salary. The noise out of both clubs suggests they both know this. Tigers would keep Rioli ahead of Bolton and baker if they could so they will demand pick 6 is part of it here. Otherwise Gold Coast can focus on John Noble and wonder why they stay irrelevant.

Irrelevant equals wooden spoon.
Pick 6 for 2nd round pick returning with Rioli is what I would deem fair however with our track record that will not happen.

lol, that wont be happening. This trade will not be about what’s fair. 6 will be minimum and then some.
I honestly think a fair trade and win win for both sides is

GC- pick 6 + 20

RICH- Rioli + f2

Suns get Rioli and stock up for next years academy since there's 4 of them and 1 in the top 5 at least.

Richmond gets 2 first rounders for what sounds to be a strong draft in the 1st round
