No mention of where he is going.

Re: Please dont take Dave Misson with you Ross

He is going to Melbourne 'apparently'. Looks as though Ross has nothing to do with it.

He is going to Melbourne. Ross has nothing to do with it.

Of course it has something to do with Ross.

If Lyon was our coach next year Misson would most likely still be alongside him.

He's done a great job and will be a big loss but he's not the only fitness expert in the country. If somebody is no longer committed to our club it's best that they don't remain. And that goes for everybody associated with the club.

The only thing that would tear the club apart would be to have more doomsayers like yourself hanging around the place.

Harden up.

Re: Please dont take Dave Misson with you Ross

Actually, it increases my suspicion that Ross was heading to Melbourne too.

Well trying to look at the bright side, we can find someone pretty good for the money we saved in not paying Ross what Freo offered

I want someone good, but I also want someone who lets the team practice their kicking, seriously.

We've got an extra 4 weeks for pre-season this year. You'd like to think the players will get to round 1 fitter than they've been for a long time. And yes, surely the new coach will identify disposal as a massive weakness and get the footy out early.

I was inferring that Misson wasn't going to Freo with Ross.

And you can't know for sure whether he would still be there is Ross was going to be staying. Maybe Ross knew that Misso was looking to get out?? Maybe many of the Staff are looking to get out? I wouldn't hang it all on Ross. And you're right - as tough a period as this is, if people aren't committed to the cause they're just driftwood if they hang around. You guys will bounce back - almost all Footy Clubs do.

Yes, that will be huge to guys like Roo who just need to give their body a rest.

Though I was referring to the fact that it was Misson that stopped them practicing their kicking. ;)

Very disspointed, hope we have learnt out lesson though and the soft tissue injuries continue to be low.

I wasn't aware of that. I know a lot of clubs are reluctant to let their players have too many shots at goal because of the risk of injury but didn't know that it went as far as not allowing them practice their kicking.

I guess it shouldn't come as a surprise when you look at the skill level of our players.

Re: Please dont take Dave Misson with you Ross. Update: Misson gone

Not all that surprising that he has left, and I'd hope the club would have been on the look out for a replacement at about the same time as looking for a new head coach

A breath of fresh air through the place ... did wonders a couple of years ago!

Or the change at Sydney becoming afar more attacking club and us adopting the Sydney model with Ross & Misso on board, it's more than a little coincidental.

Regardless, habits would have already rubbed off on the club re limitation of injuries (soft tissue varieties and prevention / identification) which would be tweaked under any new personnel, so arguably Mission is not a huge loss so long as the entire medical department stays relatively together, as simply bringing in a new head brings in different techniques on the same instances and practices with differing limitations.

Re: Please dont take Dave Misson with you Ross. Update: Misson gone

Disappointing but not totally unexpected when he was one of Lyon's offsiders. Hopefully they can find someone of the calibre of Misson to replace him, a good fitness/performance manager is almost as important as getting a good coach.

No doubt this will give the vultures in the media even more reason to sink the boots into St Kilda and trot out their "club in crisis" rubbish.

Re: Please dont take Dave Misson with you Ross. Update: Misson gone

I wonder...

Does this open the door for Neil Craig to come into the club, considering he has a great knowledge of fitness advising and sports science?

Re: Please dont take Dave Misson with you Ross

Shit! Anyone want a second hand copy of "The Bubble" I dont think I can ever read that crap again.

As far as kicking practise goes, maybe the likes of Raph should avoid it ( depending exactly which injuries it avoids ) but we have players like DalSanto and Montagna who I dont think have had as much as a twinge in their career.

I just hope we get someone reasonably qualified. I'm convinced Misson is very good at what he does, but I think there are others out there too. Just don't skimp on it like Butterss/Thomas did.

Re: Please dont take Dave Misson with you Ross. Update: Misson gone

These fitness guys are overrated IMHO. A lot of them are trend followers. Watch how many go with the Arizona/High Altitude thing over the next couple of years. It's the one who comes up with something new before everyone else catches on that gives his club the jump on the competition.
And if Misson was so good, why did we have to watch a proppy Riewoldt struggle through the season tarnishing his hard won reputation. I just hope that playing him injured all year hasn't done irreparable long term harm.

Stick Fat True Saints.

Re: Please dont take Dave Misson with you Ross

Was confused with some info earlier about senior coach, its actually brand new coaching panel which will be announced internally (so probably be leaked) in next 24-48 hours

:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

http://www.saints.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/5315/newsid/123811/default.aspx

The St Kilda Football Club has today appointed a selection panel and a specialist advisory group to recruit a new senior coach.

The selection panel will meet for the first time tonight (Tuesday) with members of the St Kilda Football Club executive team to commence the recruitment process.

Re: Please dont take Dave Misson with you Ross. Update: Misson gone

New coach would've just cut Berba anyway. Misson though is a huge loss. But the players don't just forget how to prepare themselves.
