I don't think we'll be able to upgrade 28 or 31. Everyone will prefer to have less higher picks, as we do. That's my prediction anyway.

Yeah would be very difficult, a team like GWS I assume would be willing to trade 22 for experience, but that's it.

We'll be going deeper in the talent pool by taking our selections in the rookie draft rather than the national draft.

This year we will go deeper. However after pick 30-40 this year it is a crap shoot anyway. We would rather have those players on the rookie list than the main list.

Next year it means we can have more earlier picks in a stronger draft, where there is more recognised talent.

Why would we rather have the players on the rookie list?

Why will we have more earlier picks next year?

^^^Because they're less likely to get a game in 2014 than Bennell or Tunbridge.

We'll likely take a couple of project players in the rookie draft, or possibly one project and one mature-age WAFL player.

Rookie list would then be:
- Sinclair
- Newman
- Project player
- WAFL guy/project player.

Adelaide might be open to trading 23 for 28 & 31

Still it won't happen as we will use one of those picks on Yeo

28 + rosa for GWS 22 is the only thing I find plausible, but even if rosa did want to leave he'd probably rather go back to Melbourne.

Both will be gone by pick 11

Melbourne-Sheed
Collingwood-Acres
West Coast-Egg on their faces

The way i see it this is the worst way the draft for us could go given our wants/needs imo. (this is not a prediction its what wce wouldn't want clubs to do)
1. Boyd
2. Aish
3. Scharenberg
4. Kelly
5. Billings
6. Sheed
7. Freeman
8. Mcdonald
9. Acres
10.Bontempelli

Takes out a lot of the players most suited to us but still leaves options.
Kolodjashnij, Lennon, Salem, Crouch and Mccarthy all still available.

And that would probably be the worst case scenario for WCE as far as finding an inside mid with pace and skills.

I would be very happy with that deal if Rosa was indeed keen on leaving but St Kilda are knee deep in a rebuild.

I don't think Rosa would calculate into their plans.

Yeah it was a bit of a hail mary. Though Rosa will only turn 27 next month, and he'd be a decent replacement for Dal Santo on a wing.

"West Coast finally secured Brisbane’s Elliot Yeo for pick 28, and are hoping to acquire Carlton’s Josh Bootsma for pick 31." This is the deal I think will happen shame though we need MIDS/MIDS and 1 tall (utility def/fwd a Johnson or McPharlin type) and that's not Bootsma.

Actually, that list does not seem all that unlikely . Are there any obvious ommissions?

Although would be chuffed if Kolodjashnij is still available at 11, and judging by our new coach's presumed fetish with versatile HBF's, so would he I imagine.

Collingwood will take Lennon I think.

Worst case scenario is Aish, Kelly, Sheed and Acres all available at pick 6 - none available at pick 11.

Strongly worded letter will be written.

Yeah I'd have to agree.

I think in general, any chance we'd have of packaging one of them with 1/2 picks in the 40s would be trumped by Brisbane who may have a few picks around 25-30.
